Let's convince Nintendo to go region-free!

Someone needs to draw Reggie with a "My body is region free" caption.

Thanks for the great idea! :D

Another contribution: who would have believed zombies, of all creatures, to endorse this?

Finally, even a certain space bounty hunter opted in for this cause!

If this actually goes through (hopefully), I may actually consider buying a WiiU.
Petition signed. Good luck guys!

I will "yeah" every single Miiverse post supporting this cause I can find. It's nice to see that each community I've been too has these posts somewhere in the most popular sections.

I can see this happening, as sad as it is. Nintendo really don't want people to import/pirate their games.

Not sure I see the connection between importing and pirating. Don't publishers still get their money when games are purchased via imports? Why should Nintendo impede that? I'm still unclear on the value of region locking.

How about localizationbombing DQX's Miiverse? And Yakuza 1&2 once that's up?

You'd have much more chance of them listening to that sort of thing.

A campaign for Platinum to make Starfox

A campaign for online play in Wii Sports U & Super Mario 3D World,

..a track editor in Mario Kart.

a HD port of F-Zero GX/AX

Those are things they'd consider..this isn't IMO. People would be better off focusing on realistic things they might actually acheive.

Even though this is arguably a harder objective to achieve if compared to more down-to-earth suggestions, I can't entirely understand any defeatist attitude.

As many people have already pointed out in this thread, no one would have believed in a VC western re-release of Earthbound one year ago. Nowadays we have so many opportunities, methods and ways to express and share our arguments, letting consumers' preference be heard clearly even from a big corporation like Nintendo.

Not only it doesn't hurt to try, but given certain recent events in this ever-changing industry now is the perfect chance to make an attempt.

Thanks, but that's the same negative song and dance from you again. We're trying to achieve something positive for gamers. Not for paranoid bean counters.

Thinking it's a complete waste of time that could better spent elsewhere isn't negative...

..it's a positive suggestion for concentrating on achieving the achievable.

Just dropping in to express my support.

Nintendo shouldn't design hardware in a way that prevents a person to import a Japanese game that won't ever see a release outside Japan and that he/she can't even read!

(Kidding aside, I'm doubtful whether Nintendo will ever reverse their policy on region locking, but I would surely welcome it.)

Yeah'ed a bunch of posts, will contribute more later.
Good going so far, guys! Nintendo has surely noticed by now.

I think my avatar does a decent job at showing how I think about region lock.

That has NEVER happened on Miiverse. Ever.

The only things that Nintendo has removed posts for are:

Profanity
Talking about MODDING your system (that's way different from region lock)
Sexism
Racism
Suicide Threats
Posts about religion
Bullying
Spoilers (if your post isn't marked as one)

People say "PS3 rules!" on Miiverse all the time. Has Nintendo ever removed those posts? Nope.

I look forward to the naysayers, defeatists and apologists eating crow when Nintendo ends region-lock.

Been doing my part with this internet slacktivism. Been keeping relatively up to date on yeah'ing the posts that need it.

You guys are better off petitioning for New Waluigi U bros or Nintendoland 2 with no online.

Nintendo does what Nintendo wants. And, you don't agree you better butt off!!! Thought you knew this from the SNES days.

There is NO WAY Nintendo will go region free. They don't even give a damn about what their competition is doing so I suggest you don't even bring Xbone/PS4 up.

You know I understand that you don't agree to what we're trying to accomplish here and that's fine. However, I don't understand the insistence that we should just give up, it just seems a bit petty to derail and demoralize people just because you don't care about it.

As an European Atlus fan, I live in constant fear that a game won't make it here. Region free systems help relieve that "anxiety." That's why I prefer Persona and SMT on PlayStation.

Region-free Nintendo would mean I'd have nothing to worry about anymore :)

I think Iwata said that his favourite GBA game was the 1st Rhythm Tengoku which was never released outside Japan. Someone smart could use this.
