Let's fix Driveclub. #NODCSUB

I would say completely misunderstanding the issue people are having and blundering into thread to shout at them, is closer to what is wrong with this world.

And this is how gaming is in the state that is in,in the first place. People letting dangerous precedents slide. People dident fight hard enough against Bullshit Microtransactions in full priced titles, people dident fight against Day one DLC.

Lets just let all the gaming companys buttfuck us.

There is nothing wrong and no one is trying to butffuck anyone. If Sony would have wanted to they would have joined Micosoft and together they would have shoved universal DRM down our throats.

This is again an out of proportion blown issue with one single PS+ deal that isn't as wonderful as some hoped for and that was communicated as being more than it finally turned out. So what? It is neiter a trend nor the end of the world.

You've messed up your quoting there, that first one was mine.

Aren't they though? If you pay ~£45 for the digital version (cba to do the actual conversion). Then if we assume this gen goes on for another 7 years then to keep playing Driveclub, a game that you bought you have to pay £503.16 in PS+ subs. (£5.99 per month).

If it was £5 off for the digital version like any other game everyone would be happy.

People dont like to feel... like they have not been smart enough to see what was about to come.

If the reality doesn't get as someone hoped for, better blame someone else instead of learning something. Basic law of life.

Companies do things I don't like. I know that. There are lot of things companies do which are even worse. I can still take a stance on this issue.

Even though this may seem like a small issue to many, to me its a horrible idea that really needs to be shot down early. If this becomes successful, you will see it become a Sony standard practice. I already left one console because of the horrible way they decided to start treating players and I will have no problem jumping ship to PC. It can only get worse if we let this kind of shit start seeping into the ecosystem. If nobody complains now, we will see more crazy decisions being made that don't benefit us as paying customers. These companies don't care about the players, they just want to squeeze you for everything your worth and they will if you let them. A $10 discount tied to a subscription fee has no real benefit to anyone but Sony and is a horrible deal especially considering the deals they usually offer to plus.

This was one of the games that I was looking forward to after I saw the re-reveal, now I wont support it, and I hate that because it looked genuinely awesome. I really really hope they reconsider this.

I agree completely. One of the reasons I switched from 360/Live to PS4/PS+ was that PS+ was offering much more value, while Live was offering very little and spamming me with ads.
I am absolutely prepared to go full mini-ATX PC/Steambox if Sony start screwing the pooch.
Give me an attractive discount and I'll buy. Tell me that a $10 discount tied to a subscription is a good deal, or "giving gamers new options to experience their content" and I'll give them an "exciting new options to experience the next generation" of online consumer disgust.

Just reading most of the comments here and its no surprise this was done. Sony wasn't giving this game to plus for free. The whole plus edition was like many mobile games is a lite version.

Drive Club is like any other game. Its not a free to play or single player only. Look at this game just as you would look at FIFA, NBA, or Madden. You can play single player but to utilize multiplayer or online modes. You need Plus ... Simple.

I Have plus till 2018 the upgrade would work for me. I be so done with this game way before then. But keeping things simple have plus offer some perks. But as much as they give people will want more. I think this offer would be a tab better if the purchase plus edition was 15 usd and not 10. That being said they need to untie the whole paid plus edition out cause as some expect to exploit the loop hole of buying the full version. That's clear from reading most of these post.

In some ways I wouldn't doubt some of the delay of Drive Club was about this issue.

The 'upgrade to Plus edition' price is $50, not 10 or 15.

That's the problem of interpretation on the word "upgrade"

We think upgrade means upgrade to full retail version, Sony's "upgrade" is feature upgrade for your plus edition, it's still plus edition.

There's no option to buy the Plus edition if you unsubscribe though, any other game in the IGC lets you do that so you can still access any paid-for DLC.

That's why I suggest Sony repackage Plus edition, sell it for $15/$20 without plus, free with plus.

You should be able to buy it for $10 if you already have the DLC, then it's the same price as the physical/digital full game with the exact same rights of use.

I'm pretty sure that's how they are going to work this, either that or a straight up discount of the full game, and all saves and trophies earned carry over to it.

A la carte always cost more then bundle.
Besides11 tracks 10 cars with that production value should worth more than $10.

This is why I hope games don't go digital anytime soon. Retail is always the superior option.

Digital could be considered superior in several ways. It depends on your preference, but this is an aberration and cases for retail/digital as a whole should not be based on a poorly conceived "discounted upgrade" solution for a single game.

Don't understand this line of thinking. You just take the loss. You knew what you bought 5 years ago. There is no guarantee any digital game will work in 5 years.

How about this analogy:
It's 2019 your PS4 hard drive fails with $500 worth of games on it. Some of those games are no longer on the Playstation Network and can not be downloaded again.

Son of a B@!(*.

You just take the L and buy the physical disc if you want to guarantee you play your old games in the future.

I buy all my games physical. I was playing devil's advocate.

Except Vita... damn those sales.

It is not a trend? You know this by looking into the future? Is it nice? Because EVERY SINGLE TERRIBLE DRM TREND started with one game. One game. Is this it? We do not know, that is why we are making it an issue. Maybe this is the game they are testing to sell PSN "discounts" and have them tied to a paywall you need to have to access your library. Mayne it is a fuckup.

All I can say is they are awfully silent, this was intended. A $50 game purchase where you have to pay a monthly fee to play, even the offline single player portion.

We do not know if this is a trend, we are making sure it isn't by raising our voices in protest ... But I guess some people want this and that is why they keep telling us it isn't a big deal, to just shut up or not buy it.
