What is the issue?
The PS Blog article states this:
We think you’ll have a lot of fun playing DRIVECLUB once it launches on October 7th, digitally via the PlayStation store and on Blu-ray at your local retailer. If you’re an active PlayStation Plus subscriber and have been playing the PlayStation Plus Edition, but decide you want the full DRIVECLUB experience, you can purchase a one-time upgrade for $49.99. This will give you access to all five locations, 55 tracks, 50 cars and all 50 tour events, as long as your PlayStation Plus subscription remains active.
And the comments don't help:

There are more like that making it clear what this situation is.

This is what we were promised:

Mock if old. We need to create a campain around this like for #NOPS4DRM . I just wanted to create this thread in my storm of fury. I'm going to eat now. Mods feel free to update it and I will when I can.

Edit: Twitter example:
@yosp @rushy33 I won't buy #DRIVECLUB PS+ edition or otherwise, until I can upgrade the PS+ edition and play it after my sub ends. #NODCSUB

At the moment, the comments in the PSBlog are making it very clear that Chris Brown, the Product Manager at SCEE, believes that you lose access to the PS+ edition when your subscription ends, whether it is upgraded or not

Edit 2: More evidence.
On the (09-01-2013, 11:49 AM) Rushy posted this:
- When you upgrade from the PS+ Edition you get the full digital edition which doesn't require a PS+ subscription.

After an edit he changed it to:
- When you upgrade from the PS+ Edition you get the full digital edition content.

Edit 3, This is why it is an issue:
PlayStation Plus subscribers will also be given exclusive PlayStation Store discounts each month that are above and beyond the current PSN Store discounts available to everyone. These discounts will range from 20% to 50%, and anything you buy with these is yours to keep and enjoy forever.

Edit 4:
Even if you still think still haven't clarified, make yourself heard anyway. That way we may get the 'clarification' we want. That is the worse that can happen after all.

tl;dr

When you buy Driveclub with the $10/euro discount, you have to keep you're subscription to pay. This sets an awful precendent.

What should we tweet? We should all have the same tweet, I think that would be better. So give me something and I'll copy paste it,

They are just giving you options, as others pointed out in the other thread think of this as just a big DLC pack. If you don't want to lose access just buy the full game.

This game has been nothing but controversy since it was announced.

5 more months of DriveClub drama...whoopee.

Imagine what would happen if you didn't read any driveclub threads!

Anyway, in 5 months time you'll still be trying to get the 'Access all 3000 ATMs' achievement in Watch Dogs, so it's not like you'll be bored.

There is still the option of buying it in store, yours to keep forever right? Not belittling he campaign, just confirming if that option is still there.

The whole #PS4NoDRM thing of trying to bring about change via specialized Twitter hashtags is getting pretty played out.

If the upgrade were $20 bucks I'd understand this.

Nah, even if it was $20, it would still go against what Plus discounted purchases vs. free has been since the beginning.

Which is why I think this is a misunderstanding and poor communication. Hopefully we know more soon.

What about the blu ray version? I'm out of the loop on this game.

It's the issue of offering a $50 upgrade to give you access to the full-game content, but also henceforth locking that purchase behind a PS+ membership. This in effect means (as you seem to agree) that circumventing your paid PS+ membership is the best way to get access to the game.

Im also certain that this is a mix up where PS+ version can expire, but is upgraded to the full version and no longer becomes the PS+ version

Retail version is not affected by this.

The way I read the initial blog posting is that the wording is off and if that's not the case then I am hoping for a #driveclub180 because this is a terrible policy.

I agree with the purpose, but this is way too specific an issue to get a hashtag campaign going.

Ever since Mort led the awesome PS4 thing there have been way too many copycats.

I hope I don't "loose" my job so I can't afford PS+ then i'd "loose" all these 'great' PC ports and Stick it to the Man... #loose

The DLC is for the PS+ edition, you won't actually be able to buy it. It's silly, they've clearly tried to give a decent offer to Plus subscribers, but the way it works screws the people who buy it and their sub runs out.

They need to make it so you buy the DLC pack, then it's licensed like a normal full digital purchase - if you unsubscribe you still keep the full working game with DLC.

It's absolutely amazing that activism of any kind on Twitter actually works and gets noticed. Not just in this case, I am also thinking about the Nigerian school girl crisis.
You'd think Twitter hash tagging would be an easy thing to ignore but I guess the world has moved to a place beyond my comprehension.

Anyway, with enough involvement, this campaign will absolutely work if a similar campaign actually helped drive the entire US government to do something about the school girls. Sony should be a pushover by comparison.

Change a game? You can't. You have to play it the way the developers intended and only that way.

I'd wait for clarification before whipping ourselves into a slobbering frenzy.

They have:

We’re basically giving people options to suit your personal preference.

It seems there’s a lot of you on here that want all of the content DRIVECLUB has right away. In that case, the Blu-ray or Digital Download is your best route.

For everyone else that isn’t perhaps a massive fan of racing games in general and has an active PS+ subscription, then the PS+ Edition is for you. It’s designed to give you the chance to experience the game with all the game modes – both online and offline play – and a selection of cars and tracks for free.

If you’re an active PS+ subscriber, are having fun and want more, you have the choice of either upgrading your PS+ Edition, or buying the Blu-ray / Digital Download versions instead.

They are seperate things.

Your hashtag kind of sounds like you're protesting the Washington D.C. metro transit system.

:D My imagination is limited.

Yup I'm with you. I'll do the simple and proper thing. I'll vote with my wallet. Not everything needs some giant campaign.
