It worked, thanks.

edit: But now it won't let me sign online with PS3? what the fuck? editx2: took 3 tries. editx3: It worked, but gave my laptop an IP address conflict. Loaded the Store, then the laptop reconnected itself and all the images turned into red Xs and I could click nothing.

Great stability.

That's a problem with your router being stupid and assigning the same IP to multiple things, and then changing them.

What you SHOULD be doing, is manually setting up all your IP addy's for your consoles, since they have a tendancy to assign whatever IP isn't in use, which can create conflict, since PC's don't refresh like that.

Just saying...

Hey guys, how do I delete a profile? I made a Guest account for no real reason, and now it prompts me to pick one every time I boot up. Can I set my main one to auto login, or delete the second one
Did you ever figured this out? I didn't see it answered. Thre's a lot sub-options that you can access for many things in the XMB, and they are all accessed by highlighting an item and pressing Triangle button (see the little indicator at the down/right on the screen?)

Yea, someone told me in the Ratchet thread.

I was trying to press triangle without being logged in first. Silly.

I think that SONY is inherently evil and trying to ruin Consoul.

And I really, really doubt that we will see any major firmware developments before December...

There has been a FW update every month. Whether its a major update or not is mostly subjective. IMO, anything that isn't a bug fix is a major update.

Find out what features are contained in PSP system software version 3.72.

An update to the PSP system software was made available on October 30, 2007. With this update, the system software is version 3.72. Features updated in system software update 3.72 include

Network

Support for PLAYSTATION Network titles have been expanded.
Support has been added for [Remote Start]* of the PS3 system under [Remote Play].
*To use this feature, the PS3 system software must be version 2.00 or later. For detailed information about [Remote Start], visit the PS3 Help & Support section at eu.playstation.com and select Connecting to other devices in the General Guides area.

Must be coming soon, then?

PS: This is from the EU PlayStation forums, might not be real.

Edit: I think the guy made it up, apologies for the bump.

Edit: WAIT A MINUTE.

Ah, thought he'd been given an extension for a week - he was 'sure' it would be tonight.

Well, he said he wanted to abide by the bet (and hadn't told me otherwise since he asked for the tag/ban). If it is out tonight then I'll cut the ban short, naturally.

Edit: Yeah, the AU never did, oddly. Only the UK one did (does).

Well maybe tomorrow it's the day :D
My most wanted feature is to be able to read and send messages to friends while in-game.

Probably not going to happen. That guy from the blog (Patrick Seybold IIRC) responded to requests for in game XMB by saying something along the lines of that they are working hard to make in game access to XMB features. Basically, the way it was worded says there will not be true in game XMB access.

I presume he just meant in-game messaging, music etc.

Ahh yeah.... that's pretty dumb.

Wake on Remote Play is one of the features I'm really excited about. I hate having to turn on my set just to put the PS3 in remote play mode, and then turn it back off.

Also, full in-game XMB is probably not going to be coming as soon as most hoped. Hopefully, they can sneak some slimmed down messaging into it though ASAP.

The Japanese PSP update site makes no reference to Remote Start (only support for the 1-Seg TV tuner on PSP Slim and Light and improved PSN title support), but it's quite possible that they've deliberately not mentioned it as not to pre-empt the release of PS3 firmware 2.00.

It's not the first time that either the US or Europe has pre-empted Japan in announcing stuff "by accident" so it wouldn't surprise me if firmware 2.00 will be out tomorrow.

Yeah, it's only the UK site that makes this announcement. That must mean that only the UK will get 2.0, and everyone else will have to wait in the marshy, boggy shite that is 1.94.

Or someone at SCEE is gonna get their hands slapped
.

I want know how they can possibly do wake on lan through the routers, NAT etc. I hope it's not some crappy "pretending to sleep" mode where the CPU is still on like the Wii but burning far more power.

Thats all I want it for! I want to be able to send messages, invites and check the status of friends. I have so much fun making fun of friends on my 360 list playing crap games.
Also, I assume this would allow us to start some custom soundtracks.

I would think anything resembling in game XMB would be a modifed menu, similar to what 360 does when you hit the center button. You get a menu that has all the necessary tools (Music, Buddy List, cross game messaging/invites, etc.)

exactly... I just want the features. If we can get a taste than that's all that matters. I don't want to have to leave my damn game just to get a message, when it turns out it really wasn't important, and I want to see what my friends are playing, just in case they're playing warhawk/resistance and I could hop on. Music for me is just a plus, I feel the messages are necassary, although music is nice when playing my 360. Invites would be amazing :D

Now it's a race to see who gets their job done first; M33 with v3.72, or Sony with v2.0. I'm on the edge of my seat. Wake-on-LAN feature means I'll bring my PSP to work every day. PEACE.

My first PS3 FW update. So excited.

It was a more intimate experience when you had to plug in the USB cable into your SIXAXIS to update the firmware. Now it feels cold and disjointed.

2.0 nice!

:(. I feel like a total new jack now. :(

I really want firmware 2.00 but at the same time I'm kind of dreading it because if it doesn't have in-game XMB and custom ordering/folders for movies and games, playlists for music, etc. I'll be pretty upset. Really though just custom XMB is the important thing because that's a core structural change to the firmware and everything else is just features. Without that, it'll feel like just another 1.XX update.

I see what you did there.
:lol I missed that

It's looking like the OP is more true than I thought. I'm really interested to see what that information bar does. That could be a really neat addition.

This is funny. I just did the update to 3.72 and there was no Remote Start mentioned in the changelog on the PSP. Only the expanded games support stuff. And indeed there is nothing new in the XMB. No new option under Remote Play. I tried to connect with my turned off PS3 anyway just to see if it says anything new and I get the usual "A connection error as occurred". wth? Maybe the new option will appear on the PSP after some kind of handshacking with the PS3 with the 2.0 update?

So basically we're probably going to see it tonight? If so we should probably unban that guy as a good-faith gesture.

Whatever day it comes (usually it's Wednesdays), it should hit at about 11PM EST.

Well, I guess since the rumored 2.0 list from a while ago (the one with in-game XMB) didn't say On/Off remotely, its probably bogus and the OP list is probably true :(

Sony needs to go back to this Phil Harrison statement (03/2007):
I think in order to engender trust in our users, we have to share some things that might be not quite perfect, but are ready to give you an indication of what's coming. So we could say, "You know, we're not sure when it's coming, but we're going to have DVD upscaling on Playstation 3." There you go. There's a scoop for you.

... and think about how it relates to the most demanded feature on the PS3 (in-game XMB access).

Right but we usually get updates far more frequently than that. I really hope it comes soon so we can finally end the speculation.

Well if the list in the OP is true which it probably is...2.0 is a disappointment. Remote Start is very cool but I probably won't use it much.
