Lightning Returns Gamescom trailer

One of the better trailers for this game, straight up. The first bits of the trailer shows Lightning talking to Snow and it's not cringe-worthy, wow!

The outdoor environments look so good. The fact that you can see everything at all times, it's really large scale. And the dying chocobo made me go ":(".

Apparently, Dajh has lost his soul... that's why Sazh is depressed in this game.

Oh, and there's more after the video ends :3
FFX HD should be soon...
Can't believe this is the first post. Fuck this shit.
I love how they found a way to reuse the Mog DLC from XIII-2.
How? They find a way to resurrect him?

Looks much better than at its reveal, but man.. I hate to say this since it sounds pretty unspecific, but this doesn't look like Final Fantasy to me. I know it's a spin-off, but still - this seems so weird to me, almost creepy :lol

I feel like Square Enix's entire existence this generation was condensed into that part of the video at the end where Lightning is horribly forced into a Cloud Strife costume.

We have absolutely no idea what we're doing anymore. Please remember. Please be excited.

Why does it look weird? I mean, FF spin-offs are known to be different (look at X-2). How is this any different (except for this game having a dark themed story).

This might actually be the first FF in a long time that bombs. I just don't see a current gen spin-off of a spin-off of a poorly received game selling well in 2014.

No you misunderstand. They show off a Moogle village in this trailer, and all the Moogles are wearing outfits that you could buy for Mog in XIII-2.
Oh, now I get it. Yeah, the Moogle village looked awesome :3

That looked horrible.

This has to be some sort of cruel joke.

X-2 had good game play systems at its core for starters. And whether or not it achieved it, there was some demand for a sequel to X.

In response to their question, it looks weird because it is such a soulless game.

XIII-2 wasn't poorly received... lots of reviewers even claimed it to be better than XIII. And it sold well.

Why in all Toriyama hells are you just assuming so much? How do you "know" that it's soulless, and based on your post, you're also saying that LR doesn't have a good gameplay system? If anything, that's exactly what they're going for here. A solid, diverse battle system with customization, elemental based fighting AND implemented dodge mechanics.

I kinda like the new trailer.. I think I'll still get this game because of its battlesystem.

sorry for being an arse and going slightly off-topic here.. but can we expect to see new footage of FFXV at gamescom? Or do we have to wait for TGS?

Wow, I'm getting more and more in love with this title and its promises. Wilderness seems quite cool while the game keeps showing alot of variation in terrain, enemies, situations, stories. I can't wait to play it. Also, NPCs like Fang tagging along in battles? great!

Cloud Strife Costume @ the end made me say "WOW really?" out.loud. I don't know if it was a good wow really or a bad one, but I guess any reaction is a good reaction?!

A 79% from critical review and a 6.8 community score is not well received, especially not for a Final Fantasy.
Well, the core was FFXIII and people hated that - hence the score. It's known that XIII-2 is a better game than FFXIII, but the damage had already been dealt at that point.

blasted what ball??

hmm i like how the game looks, environments seem nice. and it's more open than FFXIII-2? sounds good to me.

i HATE he idea of having just one character in a FF game though.. i need a big crew of characters so i can make a party of my liking :(

Highly unlikely, for us to get something new at GC. I expect a full new teaser at TGS tho. Probably with more focus on exploration or story.

I had to go back and finish watching the trailer after reading that, even though I couldn't care less about the game. They know that we know that they know what we want from them. Do the XIII games sell? As someone who didn't bother finishing XIII, I don't quite understand why they keep bothering with this entry. I didn't care about the story at all.

she looks lovely. :)
The best part about that particular costume is that it seems to be combined with a rapier! I love me some rapier action :3!

idk about you guys but looks better than ffxiii and xiii-2, to me.

It does look like an interesting game at least, but since it has FFXIII in its name people will go on Youtube and online forums to bitch about it for no end because it makes them feel better about themselves.

- terrible framerate
- Sazh still wears same thing...
- Cliche dialog, beginning of the end!
- Shameless FF7 service baiting in the end.

+ the jungle, moogle village doesn't look too terrible

- terrible framerate
I'm sure most of the framerate issues will be fixed. Back when they released XIII-2 trailers, the framerate wasn't so hot either but it was solid for the actual release.

In Shenmue 1+2, both the main character and the bad guy wore the exact same clothes. The trip to China must've smelt.

I swear, you guys must have broken some sort of record for consecutive false equivalencies when it comes to defending SE's laziness in developing LR.

Mmm... I kinda agree with others who think they're putting some spoilers into their trailers now that they should have left as intrigue.

I honestly feel like the player shouldn't know that some of these characters have returned until they play it, and have them get their kicks that way, because it's so much better when you're left in the dark about this stuff. But I wonder if that speaks to the actual length of the game, then, and they don't have many action scenes or plot devices to show outside of these events.

Edit: Why does Sazh always have to be the butt of the joke, and why is he still in the same clothes as FFXIII? That's two games now with no new design. >:O

't was a joke.

Timey wimey something something.
Lightning gets divinely stripped every now and then, the rest just sorta time hop.

You guys have been saying this since last year and it hasn't changed. Development is wrapping up now. They don't have time to "fix" it. This game isn't ready for release. It's being rushed and pushed by the Kitase/Toriyama tag team.

Back when they released XIII-2 trailers, the framerate wasn't so hot either but it was solid for the actual release.

ROFL. I don't think we played the same game.
