I Absolutely Love 3 Peat, He did that song without the beat on concerts and I hoped it would end up on C3 and it did.

The Only Song that I don't feel yet La La, could have better been replaced by the old La La (although that song maybe doesn't really fit on this album)

If you don't like Lil Wayne music, you will hate this album.
If you like Lil Wayne's music (Esp. Recent), You will also like this album.

I don't know how true this is. I've noticed that people who were huge Wayne fans back in 05 and some of 06 aren't really feeling the new approach and delivery from Wayne. It's almost like he doesn't care anymore. He seems to lack the motivation to create a great album.

If you like Miami-Wayne and T-Wayne, then yeah you'll probably dig this. But if you're not a fan of the freestyle-like flow, then watch out.

Just wanna let people know, I really am not a Wayne Hater. You can call me a C3 hater, I won't mind. I did like his verse on the new Busta Rhymes remix.

I love 3 Peat as well, great intro track.

The tracklist seems pretty final, especially since it only 2 minutes shorts of filling a 80 minute cd.

Might be possible as Itunes bonus track, there is a bonus track released on june 3, so hopefully it's one of those tracks.
 
Not liking his flow on this album as much as the previous Carters. This is the first one I have to say got carried by beats. This is on first listen. I loved the first two the first time I heard them b/c his flow is sick. Some of the production is amazing. I love the beat to "A Milli". More "Go DJ" than anything, but the beat overpowers him time. Sick beat.

I guess he's looking to sell lots of singles and have lots of dloads on iTunes with this collection of club-bangers and throwaway sanging. But it doesn't deserve to be called a Carter. Worst of the three, and I don't see it coming even close on repeated plays. :( From one user to another... say no to drugs, Wayne. PEACE.

I'm pretty sure Good Girl Gone Bad is Mrs. Officer, at least it would seem they're espousing the same concept to me.

You don't like Dr carter? I love when the beat hits that pickup part and I love the concept. Also I saw a track listing with both Mrs. officer and good girl gone bad so I hope its a separate song.

I think misunderstood is better than 3peat even though at the end, his message is kind of blurred by his lack of education or maybe just lack of vocabulary (he was in college majoring in psychology).

Still gotta love the little guy, he speaks from the heart even if hes off base.

Dr. Carter is good and I like the concept as well, I kind of don't like the "nurse" or whatever in it tho heh. I can't really say anything about Misunderstood because I haven't listened intently to it yet (seems like the same concept as "Last Call," Kanye's outro on College Dropout and one of my favorite Kanye joints :D).
 
Lil Wayne= the new 50 cent... he used to be good but now fame has made him soft. the carter 3 will sale but none of the tracks are good imo...

Fame has made him soft? When the hell did he get soft. He has been in the studio recording 24/7. He doesn't even pick his own tracklist. I don't think that a bit of experimenting makes a rapper ''soft'.
 
Good review I found on another site, if you don't want to read it all, atleast read "Shoot Me Down." A lot of you guys are sleeping on this CD.

Whole Carter 3 Review. Want to put it in its own thread - sorry for the length.

3 Peat (7/10) – Vintage Wayne aggressive introduction. Strong production with “no-hook” rapping. Some noteworthy lines but this track roughly the same caliber as his prior introductions. It lacks some of the emotional intensity typical his prior intro-tracks

Mr. Carter (10/10) – Excellent production, somewhat reminiscent of Jay’s Blueprint but nevertheless doesn’t seem dated. Wayne focuses his first verse on his goal of being a great musician and ascending to the throne. He brings lines like “somebody say chuuch ima need a suit” – “ I got the flo(floor) Im trying to see the roof” - “blind eyes could look at me and see the truth/Iwonder if Stevie do”. He also addresses the haters and claims only God can judge him. He keeps his own style through the song and you never get the sense he is attempting to beat Jay on the track, but moreso bring his own style to the forefront. Jay-Z is excellent, top of his game. He reminds everyone that he is still the best but is prepared for the transition to the new generation. Jay calls Wayne his heir and says its “your turn now.” The track ends with church style applause and an amen by Wayne. Excellent concept and execution.

A Milli (7.5/10) - Street track which attempts to channel Wayne at his “mixtape” peak. Repetitive simple beat which keeps the focus on Wayne. Full of energy, punch-lines, and raw rapping. Wayne effortlessly changes up his flow throughout the song and exhibits his mastery of “flow” and his ability to keep your attention even without laying out a thematic focus.

Got Money (8/10) – Hard to rate, but must be evaluated based on what it aspires to accomplish. It will be a very successful club banger. Liking this track requires one to accept the use of the autotune, but it works well with the song. Won’t be remembered but good club track nonetheless

Comfortable (10/10) – Smoothed out mature song. Excellent production and vocals by babyface. Wayne sticks to the concept of the song (which is often a criticism of his work) and reminds the ladies not to ever think they are too important. “feeling irreplaceable listening to beyonce/ OK ill put you out on your b-day”. “if you leave, your leaving the best/so you will have to settle for less/ and Ill send a jet to pick up the next.”

Phone Home (8/10) - Love it or hate it track. Beat and song lay out an otherwordly feel – the concept and the music are perfectly matched. Wayne lays out his personal conception of himself as a rapper-eating alien that is so far advanced he is different than everyone else. “Hip hop is my supermarket/shopping cart full of fake hip hop artists/ Im starving I gotta eat hearty/ and Ill be back in the morning”. The hook references ET and seems only intentionally cheesy/lighthearted.

Dr. Carter (10/10) – Excellent concept. Wayne takes on his persona as Dr. Carter – the savior of hip hop. The beat uses a jazz baseline and a drum pattern reminiscent of old school hip hop. Wayne focuses on the main problems with most rappers and gives advice on how to fix their problems. Wayne references the lack of work ethic, creativity, vocabulary, and swagger as the main problems in hip-hop. As he tries to “save” three different patients Swizz gradually builds up a trumpet melody which adds to the drama of the “life or death” scenario.

Tie My Hands (9.5/10) – This is Wayne’s Hurricane Katrina song. While the subject has been addressed multiple times by rappers, Wayne’s approach is totally different and sets this song apart from the others. Production is excellent and the Robin Thicke vocals are perfect. In fact, he essentially steal the spotlight from Wayne with his chorus and ad-libs. Wayne uses a minimalistic approach to his feelings on the song. He begins by explaining why he has been relatively silent on the issue and focuses more on “rebuilding” than restating the horrors of Katrina. “sometimes that tragedy means its over” “I deny being down but they seem to hold us/ my shoulders is strong I prove em wrong/I aint doing nothing but movin on” - “but they talk that freedom matter/and didn’t even leave a ladder”. He repeatedly uses imagery to get his point across and knocks on the door but “hope” is gone – and also repeatedly uses references to swimming out of the Katrina disaster. His last verse speaks to those who are “coming from under that water” and reminds them that there is “fresh air up there”. He makes storm references such as “with every dark cloud theres a silver lining”.

Shoot Me Down (9/10) – Wayne’s version of “Man in the Mirror” and the TI vs. TIP style song. Wayne takes the concept a step further and uses a various persona on each verse. Each verse represents a various “era’ in his life and career. He executes extremely well on the song without using cheesy voice changing ala TI. He begins with by announcing “chapter 1 verse 1”. He asks if “you remember me…’ – then gives a reminder “pop-pop”. This verse represents gangster wayne who “sweats money” and uses his “pistol as a towel.” He would “ride for ours, die for ours” and calls the later incarnations of Wayne a coward. Verse 2 is the more developed Wayne who is less gangster and more rapper. “380 on my waist and Rambo at home” “No more bandana on my head, bandana on my back pocket”. He tells the previous Wayne that “***** Im grown/ **** what you on”. This Wayne feels untouchable he could fly look into an eagles eye and tells old wayne angrily that “I am nothing like you.” He tells old wayne that “son I know your barrels burning but please don’t shoot me down”. In verse 3 he is the current Wayne which represents his fully realized persona. He speaks to his daddy and proclaims his victory over his previous self. “Pop I did it to em/Im a bastard” and proclaims that them *****s “is backward/ but they behind us”. He finishes the track with a reminder to anyone who didn’t catch the concept. “I put another clip in/and aim at his vision/cause Wayne is his vision/ cause Wayne is division/Im aimin at a mirror” . He begs to not have to re-invent himself again and says that “ive done this before/please don’t make me do it again”

Playing with Fire (9/10) Exellent sampling and production. Similar to Tie My Hands, the production runs the risk of outshining the artist. Wayne tries to keep up with the power of the beat and lays down emotionally charged energetic verses. Keeping wit the “playing with fire” theme he focuses his first two verses on the uncontrollable consequences of his aggression and desire to be great. He contrasts the destructive nature of greatness with the productive nature of it. “Mama always told my I was crazy/ but my ***** say Im amazing”. “I feel caged in my mind/its like my flow doing time/it goes crazy inside/but when it comes out its fine”. He finishes this verse by invoking imagery of him literally setting a girl on-fire through sex. The second verse he raps about ascending to greatness and the impending downfall he expects to face. He “enters” the motel of MLK and prepares for assassination. The final verse is a repeat from one of his previous works where he examines his dual nature. He sees both his dead-beat father as well as his mother in himself and invokes imagery of him defending his mother from an abusive father. “he could see the devil in my features/he could smell the ether/he could see Cita”

Lollipop (8/10) Light on lyrics but hypnotizing beat has lead to strong commercial

success. Autotune works with the song and it generally succeeds.

La La (7/10) Very strange beat. Syncopated rhythms and disharmonious children singing. Likely the most love/hate song on the album. Those who like it cant understand how others hate it and those who hate it cant understand its appeal. The chorus is simple and southern – almost sounds like it came off a 90’s UGK or No Limit album. In keeping with the feel of the track Wayne brings out his silliest and most light-hearted metaphors and discusses his feelings for his daughter. Brisco and Busta do a decent job on the beat but nothing memorable.

Nothin on me (6.5/10) Gutter old school beat – 90’s NY hip hop style. Fabolous shines on the track with outstanding wordplay touching on several different themes and transitions between them excellently. Juelz is similarly but not equally good. This track highlights the difference between Wayne and other very good rappers. While Fabolous is in several ways lyrically superior, Wayne’s delivery is far advanced as compared to the other two rappers. The autotune hook is out of place on this track but is nevertheless catchy.

Let the Beat Build (8.5/10) Creative song and concept. It seems directed to music connoisseurs and may be unappreciated by casual listeners. Wayne’s lyrics are filler – but the concept of the song centers around the delivery. Kanye begins the beat with airy singing vocals and Wayne sings along with them. Wayne meters his rap to be the perfect complement for the vocals. Wayne alters his flow as the beat gradually comes to match the “updated” beat. When the drums are added wayne delivery becomes less sing-songy and more “rap-like”. The beat then inverts from its origins and drops the vocals while keeping the drums. At this point Wayne pulls out his most aggressive delivery of all rattling-off catchy punch lines with the precision of a snare drum. This song strips rap down to its bare bones and may be more intellectually entertaining than traditionally enjoyable.

Mrs. Officer (7.5/10) Album filler type song – but still pretty good filler. It channels Wayne’s success as an R&B feature artist – which is a very important part of his ascendance to hip-hop superstardom. Song is more of a Bobby Valentino song with a Wayne cameo. Catchy with quality production

Misunderstood (8/10) Wayne is late to this sample (previously used by Common and the song was remade by John Legend) but nevertheless Wayne puts together a solid song. He uses imagery to focus on the good and bad characteristics of himself and society as a whole. The first verse he invokes his struggles with Hurricane Katrina and compares his struggles to those of Jesus. “He had hair like wool/Like wayne”. He furthers his goal by invoking imagery of him dropping “ashes in the bible/I shake em out and they fall on the rifle”. This is Wayne at his creative best. He also examines the duality of society by questioning why people have a easter “church-fit, and then “out-fit”. He invokes his bad side by cursing but them quickly apologizes for it and claiming that he is only human and wears his heart on his sleeve. He finishes it with intoxicated ramblings about the criminal justice system and Al Sharpton.

So here's how Tha Carter III was leaked:

Lil' Wayne's highly anticipated forthcoming studio album, The Carter III, was leaked over the internet, last night. And the DJ openly responsible for the act, DJ Chuck T, is vehemently lashing back at Weezy for the comments he made against mixtape DJs earlier this week. In a statement explaining his act of vengence, DJ Chuck T wrote, "Lil' Wayne said fuck mixtape DJ's...so now i'm about to show that boy the meaning of bootleg," he explained. "I'll be damned if I let [anyone] get away with saying fuck me without him facing some type of repercussions, including Lil' Wayne. Free Carter III download."

Lil' Wayne, shocked the mixtape world in an interview with Foundation magazine, where Weezy, who has had success with his Dedication and The Drought series mixtapes, cursed out and discredited the entire mixtape DJ fraternity. Appalled by the self-proclaimed "best rapper alive" comments, Chuck T, a resident Dirty South DJ, decided to take a stand against Wayne.

"I see the bitchassness of a lot of mixtape DJs right now," Chuck said. "DJs love to talk shit about each other and bash each other for no reason, but are scared as hell to stand up for themselves when someone talks shit about the group as a collective. I figure I'll do what I've been doing since day one and [stand] on my own."

"I gave [Wayne] a pass when he kissed another man because that shit didn't affect me," he continued. "He's not sliding on this one. Don't buy the new Lil' Wayne album. Download it for free!"

The irate DJ also issued an apology to his friends and associates at Wayne's record label Cash Money/Universal Records.

"I would sincerely like to apologize to all my friends and business associates at Universal and Cash Money Records for any problems this may cause," he explained. "If you never want to deal with me again then I totally understand. No hard feelings."

The Carter III is scheduled for release on June 10.

I know every time I bump this thread Its probably going to lead to some hate, but i really couldn't care right now.

Few days after, and I am love with this album..wow.

As all of the lines I didn't catch before settle in and I start to memorize the songs I contemplate buying 2 copy's of the album but I probably wont. :P

My favorites in order-
#1 Shoot me down ( Production, Concept, Lyrics all blow me away)
#2 Dr. Carter (Love Love Love this song, and even Though the first verse is old It is so good.gif still. Great mixture of lyrics concept and production. Nurse should be substituted with someone else.l)
#3 Mr. Carter (Needs no explanation, Torch is passed)
#4 Cant Tell me nothing (Old But I cant seem to get tired of it)
#5 Tie My hands (Really good song but I think the message isn't as clear cut as It should be)
#6 Misunderstood ( Lyrics, sample, production = A+. The talk about al sharpton and the prison system isn't needed. Did get a few laughs out of though)
#7 Phone home ( This song was just waiting for him to obliterate it, and he didn't. I'm sure he could have but he just took the great concept and made a average weezy effort. I expected more but That doesn't mean I didn't love it. I think if he Would have stayed on topic as to why hes a Martian, and why hes not like any other rapper I would have put this in Dr. Carters place.)
#8 Let the beat build ( Hook, and concept weren't as over the top as the rest, but the lyrics were as solid as they should have been. Really good song.)
#9 3peat (Really Good into, that is growing on me but I cant help but compare it to lupe fisaco's free chilly intro and Think he could have done better)
#10 Mrs Officer ( Love everything except bobby valentino saying WEOWEO. Good song for the women though)
#11 Comfortable (if this wasn't so old it would definitely be higher)
#12 La La (Would have been better with no features, I like the beat a lot)
#13 Playing with fire (Really hasn't grown on me, because I don't like the sample and he re-uses a verse)


Still hoping for the couple songs i think will be on the album to release but if they don't I couldn't see myself rating this album less than 9/10. Don't need anyones approval to validate my opinion, so don't waste your time.

Arent Gossip, Kush, and a few others on the bonus disc for c3?

Also Since they are leaked songs he probably didn't want too much old content on it. I think comfortable just cost him too much money to leave it as a mixtape track. Babyface vocals and a kanye west beat = not mixtape budget.

I know you ain't the biggest Wayne fan, but wouldn't you agree if those tracks didn't leak and he mixed in some of Carter 3 with these, it'd be a 5 mic album?

I can understand how people like him, but I just can't see how so many people can call him the best in the game today, or anytime.

If I hear him I nod my head a bit, but I can hardly remember what he said. His flows have zero impact on me. To me he fits in the "popcorn flick" ranking of MCs.. But I will give him upper tier of that group
