VG247 says they showed video of it, but not how it was made.

It raises lots of questions :P I'm not sure if you'd be able to build this 'side on' with the current tools. I'm guessing there has to be some more general object/geometry rotation tool now or something...

The layers system is totally gone in that shot. You've got organic movement in all 3 axes. D:

They wouldve won E3 by just showing that trailer:lol just mind blowing. I cant imagen what people will come up with in that and with kb+m support to help make it easier for them wow.

your avatar needs updating.. with LBP2: It only does: Platformer racer rpg arcade...everything

Just think guys, this stuff we are being shown now is just the beginning. I wonder what else they have to shock us with.

Its quite possible that Media Molecule are one of the wisest investments SCE have ever made. They've got brilliant ambition, a modest staff count, a game that gets bigger every day, a vehicle to show of Playstation Move with, a DLC model that will bring more and more revenue in, and more importantly. . .a big community game for the entire PSN with worldwide appeal.

I'm loving everything I have seen so far. The only addition I would like would be the option for Sackboy to have a HP bar in addition to Enemies. . .thats scalable. That would make RPG's much nicer to create and would allow us to choose our own difficulty curves.

I think the sales graphs are going to be ace at Sony's E3 conference.

Holy F@#% that trailer is awesome. Mm is awesome. This trailer is like a rainbow of creative goodness that leads to a pot of gaming gold. Head did explode.

I'm surprised by the floaty jump comment on Eurogamer. It's the easiest fix in the world; old levels that were clearly made in LBP1 can retain the floaty physics, but every newly-created level should have a new control scheme immediately activated.
Exactly.
I really hope MM rethinks this because it's kinda crucial to newcomers and those who were put of by the controls of the first game.

One of the main selling points of the original LBP was that everyone could play it.
However my sister had a hell of a hard time dealing with the controls whereas she has no issues jumping into New Super Mario Bros.

I've always thought the platforming in NSMB was way worse than LBP. I can't comprehend why people like NSMB more than LBP. I know many people do, and it leaves me scratching my head.

I feel the only thing that hurts LBP in comparison is the frame rate. NSMB is always silky smooth so it is a bit more precise. But still LBP feels more natural to me.

- A player can even customize a HUD. The example given is a health bar for a fighting game.

Same here. As a diehard Nintendo fanboy I feel dirty saying it.

i think the smart thing was force some devs to create some levels in LBP2. I mean look at modnation racer there are some devs that created race tracks! MM/Sony needs to get to this!

These guys have to be (some of) the best designers in the industry, the look of the game, the music, even the logo; it's all brilliant.

To give some idea of the things all these new features make possible, Media Molecule showed off a quick demo level. Direct control vehicles ranged from a floating chicken that could raise its altitude with a tap of the jump button and a flap, a dragonfly that could shoot as it tore through the air and a shaggy caterpillar. These last two really showed off the true potential of the new game with the camera flipping round the dragonfly at one point, turning the whole thing into a vertical retro shoot-em-up, complete with pixel enemies and even a sprite skin for the dragonfly. Even more impressive, once on the caterpillar the camera flipped to an over-the-shoulder view, giving an into-the-screen perspective as you race against two Sackbot opponents - it's all a clever illusion though, with the action still technically built on a 2D plane, but it gives you some idea of just how powerful an overhaul the game has seen. We even caught a glimpse of a top-down racer for good measure too.

WTF :O Does this mean what I think it means or am I reading it wrong?

Now THAT is a badass motherfucking trailer :lol kind of wish they had waited till E3, i cant think of any trailer topping that, would have been the talk of the town :D

It's IGN so they were probably talking about something like the rat race in the trailer... Even though the last line gives me some hope...

Eurogamer said the same thing though...that you can lock the camera close in and over specific objects. They said 'so you could make arena shooters'. See page 3 on their preview.

But the gameplay is still on a 2D plane....so...think of your grapple hook say, in this context. It'd mean if you could do this, that you could move your grapple hook left or right around you, but not up or down. So it's not like arbitrary 3D...but...for certain stuff, like - say- a mario kart style game, it'd be perfect.

But...I want to see confirmation :lol

My mouth dropped open when I saw teh trailer,

Sony just can't seem to do anything wrong in the software department for a while now.

This is pure gold...
