Makes sense given Sumo did the cross-controller DLC for LBP 2 and assisted in LBP Vita.
LittleBigPlanet, the sony bicycle.
every dev gets a turn
Ready at Dawn is making a new IP, right? At this rate, I bet Jak 4 is in the works somewhere and it's not ND.
I'm kind of crazy but I platinumed LittleBigPlanet 1 on launch day. I never had trouble with its jumping. I even cleared The Bunker level before they discovered that cheap/silly exploit that gets you past the wheel of death. It made sense to me since the world functioned off real-world physics, with momentum and friction and such. To me, it was responsive, because I could predict where Sackboy would land based on the world around him because it worked very realistically. Beyond that, I could control his direction and landing while in mid-air.
Meanwhile, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2's jumping physics, which obviously goes for its own sort of style, annoyed the shit out of me because of the fact that you can't control Mario's turning direction in mid-air (which ironically, I guess is kind of realistic, but doesn't work well for a platformer in my opinion), and you can hardly control the placement of his landing once you've pressed the jump button (also ironic, because it's realistic, but I don't think it works well). It made jumping more haphazard for me than it needed to be. Although I will say the running/turning/ground movement of Mario was splendid.
My two cents, consider me "out of my right mind".
To everyone complaining about the physics - play LBP Vita.
why the hell would Media Molecule outsource LBP3 to another company? I thought it was their baby.
3D Mario games work very different from their 2D counterparts where you actually can change direction in mid-air. And you actually can control Mario's direction in mid-air, that's the other use of the spin, not just to gain height. What both have in common is that they're responsive, precise and most importantly consistent. The problem with LBPs platforming is that the physics make it more of a sandbox rather than a pure platformer. As I said, it can be fun but mechanically speaking it's not very competent compared to the best in the genre.
AIf the people who made the new Sly dont get SCEA'd in a month and have there contract terminated I bet they might be doing something with Jak.
Sumo was one of many studios that worked on the Vita LBP. I'd argue that it is easily the best in the series.
Totally forgot about Puppeteer, haven't heard anything about in awhile
I will. Has the level-design improved accordingly?
First, if yet ANOTHER LBP game is being made, why not have Tarsier do it, since they knocked it out of the fucking park with the Vita game?
If Sumo get platformers like they do arcade racers then I'm all for this
DON'T MAKE ANOTHER LBP GAME. Fuck's sake, I can't think of another property that has been this beaten into the ground.
Man. MAN. I hope so. The vita version is pretty much the best lbp.Maybe Tarsier are working on something else now. Hopefully Vita related!
This. Should have had them do LBP Karting.
Just booted it up and Super Massive Games, Fire Proof Studios and Maverick are all credited on the opening splash screens along with Sumo and Mm. Tarsier and Doudle Eleven did the bulk of the work. We know D11 is adapting Frozen Synapse for Vita and PS3, presumably Tarsier are busy on something unannounced.Ah, wasn't aware of that. Good to know, not worried about the game's quality at all between that and Sumo's good output in general for the past few years.
Tearaway.Whats media molecule working at now?
This.Yuck, I wanted LBP3 for the PS4.
Tariser need to make that City of Metronome game.
Shoulda been Tarsier.
Tearaway.
They did a great job with the game on the vita but the online portion is a freaking disaster. I hope Sumo Digital completely redesigns the that part of the game. Quirky weird in a game is great, but it sucks for finding levels and other players.

Seems a good pick to me.
I can't think of another property that has been this beaten into the ground. Wait a while.
Well yeah,he ask what they were working onYeah, like... 15 people, lol. The rest of the team have an unannounced project for the PS4.

They really need to get rid of 'each players custom planet' or at least give you the option to disable that shit in options. So much of the terrible network code is being eaten up on superfluousness crap when it comes to LPB.
I really do not like this franchise.
physics and overtly kawaii visuals is the main reason. I wish sony would drop it
I don't understand the idea of making the PS3 the "family" console and the PS4 the "hardcore" console. You'd think Sony would want to have all of their games on the PS4 so that it sells to as many different people as possible. This arbitrary segregation is ridiculous.
Shoulda been Tarsier.
Full 3D game making perhaps?
LBP does not need another game already, give it a couple years and make a new one for the PS4
Man, I liked LBP but it really doesn't feel like time for another one yet.
