I don't understand why they don't add new REAL value to the game like they did with the MGS pack. That's what I expected from this game and not just weekly costumes. WTF.

There's obviously a reason why they're not knocking out level packs more often. They know exactly what we want and have acknowledged that we want level packs. Whatever reason they have, I respect it. They're not doing it just to be dicks, let's get that out of the way.

It could be because, well, the game is supposed to be about us creating levels and sharing, it's all about the users experience as a part of a community of creators. Mm making levels for us goes against that theme. It wouldn't be wrong for them to make us levels, but I assume that's on their mind.

Since we obviously aren't getting a tweak menu on materials (would have been too perfect to be true), It's cool you gave them what they deserved: dying in Crazy Train. lol
(ok it was probably not MM employees but still, the tought amused me)

LOL. They hate you. =P

It was fun showing the differences of gameplay people can create online.

Not released yet. Still in the plans somewhere.

It still exists, but nothing is concrete. I can't tell you whether or not it will have game changers, but assume to expect some news of it when XIII is about to release.

Bingo. :D

And there's such a constant onstream of really really great user levels appearing on the servers that you could game for hours every day and not playing them all.

What we need really isn't levels but stuff like creator packs. Or pack including both like the MGS pack of course.

Bingo. :D
Donkey Show, do you still get info from Mm or something, or it was just for the E3 thing?

Because otherwise I can't see how you would know much about other DLC other than maybe the ones releasing this month. I mean, I doubt Mm would go around just telling stuff to everybody somehow related to LBP.

Apparently Nomura blocked everything because of sackboys not having enough zippers.
It wouldn't have reflected the spirit of FFVII, he said.
I think MM is currently adding another zipper in the back of Sackboy's body, and two more under his feet.
Ever wondered what the bottom of a sackboy's shoe looks like? Well, BAM! There it is!

I severely doubt this. Thats 2010 (Spring?) youre talking about. I would have thought a more relevant time to release a "Final Fantasy" pack would be with Dissidia's NA/EU release, since Sephiroth would have absolutely nothing to do with FFXIII.

Summer would also be a cool time for us to get that Seaside level background from them! Sony could peddle the recently released PSN FF7, LBP pack and Dissidia as "The Summer of Sephiroth" :lol

They don't have to add levels, they have to add abilites and possibilities. Like they did with the gun. Just running and jumping isn't satisfying enough imo.

But levels is what everyone is clamouring for, is what I'm trying to say. Comments asking for abilities and new features are small in comparison to the demand for new levels. Obvsiously we want the best of both worlds like the MGS4 pack, new levels that bring in a new gameplay element at the same time :D

Do you guys play this game online? Or maybe you assume user stuff isn't quality?

Craving for levels can only be explained by people that doesn't play user created content --- and there you goL you're missing out on hundreds of levels that are just as fun and well made as Media Molecule ones and a good bunch that even surpass whatever MM did so far. Your loss really.

I just don't understand at ALL why they didn't add more gadgets by now. The possibilites would be pretty much endless and the game would totally feel new and unique every time you start it. Different guns, swords, melee combos, a combo system, new enemys, hooks ala ratchet - I don't know, there are SO many options and they did nothing for the past six months. The game would be better AND they would earn money, win win.

They're obviously not doing nothing man, they're cooking something up. A lot of this stuff sounds simple to you but is probably difficult to implement. Think about a melee weapon for example, how do you control it? Do they assign it to an arm button, or do they just let you mash R1 like the paintinator? How does damage work? How does range work, the weapon would have to be pretty big to compensate for Sackboys size and not be too small or the player would have to get too close to enemies which could become frustrating.

I'm sure they're iterating on tons of new ideas all the time, they're a creative ass bunch, we know that. Just sit tight man, Mm will deliver! They seem to often hint at stuff they're working on, I guess a lot of just doesn't 'click' in the end.

The point is, when MM themselves make levels, the stickers and materials provided are more sensible than these random packs because theyre forced to create useful ones, something you often complain about! Also, as great as User Levels are, one of the main draws of the main game was collecting all the materials hidden throughout levels. That isn't recreated well with User Levels because you can only give pre-made objects.

Im geting so sick of you lot moaning about them not adding new gameplay items

Infinite lives checkpoint, Global settings object, Red X all was added not long ago and all add so much to gameplay

Global settings add so much to how your level can look

as for levels they alot of amazing user made levels go play them

Well, they made a gallery level using all the content of the Monster pack.
And I seriously doubt that the main attraction of LBP is collecting the damn stickers. It's like the most tedious part for me that's for sure. If people think that collecting was the main point of LBP they sure totally missed the boat.

.

It gave it that element of replayability akin to finding all the red coins in Yoshi's Island, or going back when you unlock certain stickers to access hidden areas and so forth. Going for 100% completion was good stuff in campaign, but annoying in User Levels since collecting too much junk means you go over your profile limit and have to clean house.

The MGS4 pack remains the best one for new useful materials, music and another background.

User Levels are fantastic, but one of the early draws of LBP was "Developer Levels" which hasnt materialised as such, ever. Hopefully the next big packs isn't far off, as I said, its been half a year so...

I think some of us feel we would rather "earn"(you use the term collect for this) the right to create with/wear the extra content rather than pay your 5 bucks and have it show up in our inventory, and I don't think I've missed any boat feeling this way. That's where the MM levels succeed and user made ones fail. I don't want to collect stuff I could conceivably create myself.

Agreed. Seriously disappointed and a blown opportunity for them, I think. My money will probably go towards Bomberman Ultra now...

Fair enough. :3

And guys, there's a timeline for all their releases so far. It's not like they cook these things up on the fly when an idea comes along. The QA process for a lot of these new things takes a looooong time.

This fails only when you play for collecting. When you play for the damn nice gameplay levels are providing the game suddendly is a bliss. ;)

Also, only bad user levels are cluttered with retarded prizes. Good creators knows there are pretty much useless. Not only that but prizes aren't an annoyance anymore since you have an option to turn off the fact you can collect them.
You don't want to use that option? There's even a "delete all" tool that is extremely useful.

This DLC simply was the best DLC to ever grace a game. Period.

Haha, this I can agree with.

BTW, how do you guys keep playing this game non-stop? I had to take a couple months off from building, playing, etc. because I was way burned out by this.

I play it quite a lot but just like.. 30 mins one day, 1 hour the next day, 10 mins the next day, etc..

Today for example, I just went to the create mode, played around a bit, fixed a couple details from the stage I'm doing, and quit it.

Only sometimes I will stay more than two or three hours creating something.

Disappointing regarding the SotC/Ico DLC but I'll still grab it for the costumes and stickers :D

I get online about once a week to play new levels and I'm constantly blown away at the quality.

ALSO, the online play ACTUALLY WORKED for me after this latest patch! Wewt!

LBP is one of those games I wish I could just completely install to the HDD. I always like to check up on it now and then, but the digital distro age has made me lazy for games to play all there on the XMB and whatevers in the drive!

Personally it's the creation that keeps me there. Creation mode + user levels + LBP Central forum for the exact equation.

I've been making only 5 levels (with one in 2 versions) since last October and each of my ideas have been quite distinctively different. This keeps me going. The drive to always create something I never created before. Doing stuff I didn't see in the user levels pool.

In between my creation mode sessions I like to go and try other people's work. User levels are still refreshing to this day. I still play and see things i've never seen/experienced before. Actually, I never thought the user content would ever be this good and never in a million years I thought it would have been refreshing after 6 months.

So for as long as I feel I can express something through creating and that I'm seeing new stuff in other people's creation I might not get burned of that game.

.

I'm in the same boat as you are in regards to the creation aspect, but I just can't pace my time with it. I'm either all in or all out.

I will admit I'm glad I stepped away for a bit considering a lot of the new stuff people have come up with have totally helped in streamlining a lot of stuff that I constantly tinker with here and there for my own purposes.

And yes, I've been putting paintballs to so many uses lately. It's amazing how much thermo you save using them as switch solutions, etc.

I keep my LBP disc is and only take it out for other games lol

I make level in little bits now and go away and think about it really taking my time on levels

I think ill take time away from LBP one's my next level up only 50% done or so to what i have planed on it I want every part of it to look good and come up with some gameplay i not see anywhere yet

From the MM blog:

If you have been chosen, or hope to be chosen (see below) to participate in the forthcoming beta test of Online Create Mode, you MUST change your PSN profile so that you can receive communications from Sony. We currently have a whole bunch of people on the list that we have chosen to join the beta test who have not opted in. If this is you, you will be unable to participate, as you will not receive your email!

To check if you have opted in:

On your PS3, go to the account management section under the Playstation Network menu option
Choose Account Information
Scroll down to Notification Preferences
Make sure both of the boxes in this menu have been checked
Important note: This only applies to people who have been chosen from the selected community sites to join in (you should already know who you are) and to regulars of the LittleBigWorkshop, who have not yet been informed but hope to be chosen. It is however a good idea to have these boxes ticked if you want to join any kind of Sony based beta tests in the future!

If any of you are on the beta, I'd like to remind you I hate you sooooo bad :P

A quick question about the MGS pack: I've currently only played as far as the end of MGS2. Should I avoid the MGS pack due to spoilers for 3/4/other games in the series, or does it do its own thing and so is safe to grab?

It's a different story, not related to the actual story in the MGS games, so you can go ahead.

It's also the best DLC for LBP as of right now, so you should buy it as soon as possible :D

>_< oh shit i missed out on being in on the beta why didt i look on the lbp workshop the other day XD arrrrrrrrrrr

Hi there

You have been pre-selected for the LittleBigPlanet online create beta test, however your PSN account is currently not opted in to receiving communication from Sony Computer Entertainment. If you wish to take part in the beta please adjust your PSN account to allow contact from SCE before Tuesday 9th June.

Thanks

:( im a sad sackboy right now

Awww... man.. :(

I dunno, I barely post on other boards (LBPCentral, LBWorkshop, etc..) and I have not published that many levels, though I build A LOT. So I have a feeling I'm not getting into the beta :( :( :(
