Probably the streamers not broadcasting at "best" quality. I think it tops out at 720p.
It's likely the streamers. Everyone can stream easily now, but that doesn't mean everyone has the network capabilities to stream at good quality (whether their home network or ISP). That said, even at it's best, the quality of streams from these consoles tend to be lacking, particularly if you are used to higher quality PC streamers.

Is there any way to turn off the feature where if you are watching a stream and back out, it minimizes into a little window?
usually when i back out of a stream its because i don't want to watch it anymore and am browsing for other stuff. especially when its an especially annoying playroom stream that i was checking out to see why it had so many viewers heh
is it there to force you to watch ads?

No it's not. Without hesitation after my last game of the night I'll check this out and the next thing you know it's past 2am in the morning.
Wish the quality of the picture would improve though.
This is called Live from Playstation, why would it show non PS4 streams?

I got to admit, this is my favorite feature about it. Before it was a mess but now that the games are more organized, I only use that function to watch streams, especially for games I will never play (aka: Horror). So it's pretty good. Streams still do take a while to load and come to full HD (which could probably be the fault of the streamer themselves) but other than that I am super grateful for the function....
....Tho, i still do wish there was a dedicated app. The XB1 app is really nice.

wish you could filter out by stream quality. some people have no business streaming with their crap connections. they shouldn't even allow anything lower than Best.

Quite a few people have been over the past few days due to broken street dates.
Blocking your fans from 98% of streams because your name has the word PlayStation in it is pretty dumb IMO.
Twitch is way too big of a deal to only implement a small piece of the whole pie.

normally those streams would be taken down but ubisoft seems to be allowing them. probably because they are letting people put up let's play videos?

I have to give props where they are due, Sony has done a hell of a job with the latest update for Live With Playstation. I hadn't checked it out in awhile but just decided to give Binding of Isaac a short break and check it out again. Was shocked when I saw how much better it was and how much easier it was to find some quality streams.
The biggest change?
Freakin awesome. You can now very easily sort the streams by Games and see exactly how many streams are going on of a particular game you are interested in.
Or you can just sort by All and see what streams are going on with the most viewers at that particular moment. Or you can go completely outside of Live with Playstation and look at streams from Ustream or Twitch with those bottom 2 icons on the last pic.
Very cool stuff. I may spend a lot more time within Live with Playstation now that it is so easy to scroll through the Games list and find exactly what game I want to see streamed and jump directly to whatever stream I want out of those players currently streaming that game.
Oh and it is so much fun watching those 153 people streaming THE Binding of Isaac ( was looking for just Binding of Isaac at first but couldn't find it in the list lol ). I've already seen several streams where the streamer will invite in a SharePlay guest to try out a game. That is a very cool function btw.
Anyway, Live with Playstation has become a very good app.

I definitely like it better due to the variety within a nice app, but there's some crazy stuff on Live @ Playstation you can't really see elsewhere. lol

No need to get all defensive about it. Live from PS is fine, if a bit limited. It only shows PS streams, where as on PC and XB1 you can watch anything you want which is a huge problem they need to address ASAP in my opinion. Wish I could watch streams from PC games, which is the big draw for me on twitch anyways (LoL, dota2, cs:go, sc2, etc.)
Sure do enjoy watching attractive females in the playroom app though, I dig that portion

On the PC and XB1 you access Twitch, this is not Twitch.
It's is designed to only show PS streams, hence the name.

Oh i get it, I think my point still stands. Its a lesser product than what you get on PC and Xbox. Both show all their exclusive games, along with all other twitch streams across all platforms.
Doesn't mean it's a bad product, it's just offering less than others which is a shame. I think they should fix that.
This is part of the PS4's UI.
If people want a twitch app so badly, it is time to demand one from Twitch Interactive, but not from Sony.
If I remember right, MS has a deal with Twitch on the console app anyways.

im waiting for the early copy GTA V streams to start popping up on live with playstation. I am sure there are already some copies of the game out in the wild.
