I have to admit I'm a little confused that you see this game as made for you. Actually I see several girls in this thread saying similar things. I see this as eye candy aimed at men just like so many other games.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not offended or anything silly like that; I'm just not seeing any appeal.
This is actually a REALLY interesting discussion, and I'll be honest: I can totally see why some (many?) female gamers (and non-gamers) wouldn't like the idea of a game like this.
I'll also say that I've had
plenty of times myself when I've felt uncomfortable or even offended by the portrayal of a female character in a game. I can't at all recall offhand what the last example of that was, but I remember there being one in like the last year or so where I was honestly bothered by how the female character in mind was portrayed.
I think, for me, where the difference comes is in how I come at the game, and how I feel like it's presenting itself. It's like when I go to see the Transformers movie: I know it's going to be ridiculous going in, so I know to see it from a different level of expectation than I do other movies that I actually put some sort of expectation on.
I just really love the "silly action story with interesting female character" idea. I also think I love those times when a game (or movie or whatever) can pull of being campy and sexy and over-the-top but also respectful of its characters and not just be exploitive. Like, I just recently played through Bayonetta, a game that can feel really iffy before you dive into it. By the end of the story, I really felt like Bayonetta - even as ridiculous as she can be at times - was a really well-developed character, and one that I didn't feel embarrassed by. (Well, except for her dancing, which made me cringe every time.)
I think, on the other side of things, I really wanted to love Oneechanbara, even as utterly silly as that main character is. Unfortunately, the games were terrible, and never able to justify the types of main characters that it had. I LOVE the idea of a bikini-wearing Japanese cowgirl killing zombies! It's so stupid that it's awesome! But the whole thing ends up just being stupid, and not redeemable.
I suppose a lot of the time I want it both ways. *laughs* I want respectable, quality female characters, which we get so little of in gaming, but then I also want times where I can have my campy, silly fun, where a female character can be eye candy as long as the game around her supports that idea and doesn't use it as its only notable feature.

Like I said, it's fine if that's what you are into and have no problem seeing that. But let's not act like there isn't plenty of reason to have some sense of embarrassment going to the counter with SOME of these games. As a fully grown adult that sort weeaboo loli Japanese shit is inherently repulsive. Not saying Lollipop Chainsaw is one of them, talking in general terms.
Again, first of all, this isn't loli - not even close.
Second, to be clear, I've got nothing against your having this attitude toward the whole thing, I just don't understand it - which comes from an entire life of doing things some people might think was weird and never really caring. I feel like, if you're an adult and want to go out and buy My Little Ponies or Lollipop Chainsaw or whatever else, if that's what makes you happy, then go for it.
If you aren't into this kind of thing, I'm totally cool with that. My argument is just against the idea of ever letting what you buy and/or enjoy being controlled by the opinions of others. (I mean, you know, unless we're talking illegal / immoral stuff.)
