Like everyone else in the games big deal.
Really? Everyone else in the games has been previously banned for either doping or avoiding tests?

Not even a single percentage of the athletes.

Patriotism is one thing. Defending drug cheats to the point of making yourself look ridiculous is quite another.

Wow that shot put lady from Belarus is a doppelgänger to Meatloaf 10 years ago.

If you think being in one's home nation is so advantageous, maybe France should put more effort into their many bids...

Heh!

Yeah, no doubt there is something to be said for home advantage, but real reason GBR has leapt forward so much over the last decade is quite simply proper funding.

And I've never even bought a lottery ticket :0

Kurtofan's salty tears make GB's dominance at the moment even better. I know we aren't as good as USA/China, but oof, if we haven't fucked France up :)

It's ok, I'm sure France would have 18 golds at this point if it was in Paris. Beijing and London are a flukely good performance, and vise versa for France.

Why do footballers do better at home? It's an advantage don't deny it.

So 19 golds in Beijing and 47 medals in total was a fluke then and this is all because of home advantage?

You need to be less bitter and accept that Britain have improved their setup in response to a terrible showing at Atlanta and a poor one at Barcelona. There are still areas in which we can improve (swimming being a key one) but from 1996 to now, the improvement is there, not only in training, but attitude from the athletes who have the belief to come out and win rather than just "taking part".

Not only that but Wiggins won the Tour de France (the first British rider to do so) and he had no home advantage there and Team Sky had no home advantage either.

It's just totes bants, I'm sure of it. I think we ALL get the irony of us all arguing about sporting events on an internet message board.

It's not best gif ever but I tried.

It looks like she's stroking her invisible mustache.

Someone really needs to shop one in.

Just thinking we had huge thunderstorms and Murray won Gold - we had today huge thunderstorms and we won a gold in Equestrian since 1958.

Someone in Team GB has got some pretty powerful Djinn's on their side.

We had a bad Olympic in Beijing but we still were in the top ten.

You're talking total rubbish, Beijing's massive jump in golds and total proves that. Ever since we got the games in 05 we've upped our game massively.

France is way above Japan and Australia, two of the big boys.

You sound awfully defensive about Frances performance this olympics ....

Do we know if Jess Ennis will be competing in the 110m hurdles, think she said she was going to think about it. Her heptathlon time would have been enough to win in Beijing.

Lol, BBC talking about Bolt being pictured at 3:45 in a club with the Swedish women's handball team last night

I admit you're right, it's true that we never had completely humiliating Olympics in terms of medals, GB really stepped up its game, good for the British people :)

She said fairly soon after she finished the Heptathlon that she wasn't going to do it. Wants to give her body a rest.
