Looking for a new wallet recommendation for < $350. Help!

You can still get a great wallet for less than a few hundred.

I have a genuine leather Steve Madden wallet I got for $12 at Winners/Marshalls.

I think i will hunt down a Secrid Slim wallet this week around downtown.

I was eyeing a slim minimalist wallet for a while now, and this looks like one of the best.

I know they're unpopular these days, but is there anything good in a "coin wallet" style? I'm getting a Fuze card soon (which should cut down on cards) but I don't see myself ever fully stopping using coins.

Just buy nice things if you want to buy nice things, I don't believe there's anyone who "poses" with an expensive wallet, people just like buying expensive stuff.

I don't judge people anymore for what they buy, spend your money on whatever, more problematic is how people earn their money, some doing such immoral and disgusting things as working in advertising.

Depends on how cash-based your society is. In my country, it's hard to go around without a lot of coins. Anyway, if you opt for a billfold, usually only one side will be the coin pocket while the other will be for cards.

This was good for me when I had it:

I would not buy a shell cordovan wallet.

As a material it is known to stretch. That and it's natural water resistance is why it is praised for shoes, because you can buy a pair that fits snug and they feel molded to your feet after daily wear.

But that seems like a poor choice for a wallet, because who wants all their cards falling out all the time?

I have a Shell wallet, cards falling out is a non issue and it looks amazing 2 years after purchase.

20 is steep, but I'm listening.

Real talk, should I be carrying my passport around in a money belt? Or copies of them? And are they comfortable and at least somewhat inconspicuous?
When I travel abroad I sometimes carry laminated copies of my passport with me. Very cheap to do yourself at Kinko's.

My favorite wallet is a one-piece chromexcel from Friday and River. It can hold 6 cards, is $55, and has held up great for 5 years. I would recommend it to anyone.

You guys are all crazy. A wallet is one of the only accessories men can spend a bit of cash on and realistically get their money's worth because of how much use we get out of it.

Follow these simple rules to wallet heaven:
1. Pick a nice designer brand
2. Ask for their simplest design. Forget all these crazy patterns and images, you basically want one colour - if you prefer, go for a bit of texture or extra detail but nothing more
3. Keep it nice and slim (i.e not with 50 cards in there) and don't put it in the same pocket as keys, etc

My current wallet which gets a stupid amount of comments is below - black leather, plain as hell but super classy and works for any occasion (except the beach). Cost me about $250US, have had it three years and it looks better now than the day I bought it

Spending a little more is worth it. A genuine leather wallet (like the ones from Saddleback) will cost at least $50-$100, but will last pretty much forever.

That $20 wallet is going to fall apart.

I bought a 25$ wallet in 2004 and it's still good to this day

That's such a ridiculous price for a wallet. I mean you can obviously afford it, but damn.

Meanwhile...

20, lasted over a year so far, still looks amazing. Nothing loose or lost.

Best gift my daughters ever got me.[/QUOTE]
Yo, not much of a pokemon fan/watcher, but what season/generation are those pokemons from? Would be interested in watching it.

I have the Hide and Seek from Bellroy. I love it so much that I have the regular and the RFID models. The RFID one is a bit stiffer but I got used to it. There's more than enough storage space and a "secret compartment" hidden by a flap.

I simply love the design.
It's been mentioned several times but +1'ing Bellroy and the Hide and Seek. I've had mine for several years now and it has held up great. Surprising amount of space given its profile and I like the divided bill holder that conceals larger denominations if you want.

I wouldn't get a $350 wallet, I guess. But it sounds less ridiculous than buying a refreshed-design TV console when you own the previous one, collecting Amibos or even pre-ordering 6 month before a game in digital version.

What the fuck? I spent maybe $25 for a wallet I've had for probably 5 years. I don't care if you can afford it I'd discourage spending over $50 or so. There's got to be something else to spend that on lol

Going from 1080p to 1440p or higher with better textures is damn near a generational upgrade. But my ass can't tell the difference between a $25 wallet and a $250 one, and my money can't either.

I got a Tanner Goods wallet like 10 years ago. It develops a natural patina over time and looks really nice.
It starts like this
and then it looks like this after a few years
Not my picture. Mine is much darker and prettier now, although it is showing a bit of wear around the edges.

My friend got a LV wallet like this
It's pretty dope, but I wouldn't pay that much for a wallet. I like mine better, anyway.

LOL. Do you really get commented on your wallet? Do you wave it around every time you pay and start yelling it has Paris lettering on it. Or do you leave it on top of a bar or table when you go out so people can see it. Sounds douchey to me.

If I had a choice what accessories to spend a bit of cash on would be a watch NOT a wallet.

A local company here in Texas called Hell Bent Holsters got into the wallet game a few years ago after previously only making pistol holsters. This is the "Combat Wallet 2.5" and it's served me damn well.

This is the carbon fiber variant but they have various designs like a leather one too. The money clip is titanium and has never failed me. It comfortably fits 5 credit card style cards on the Medium, and they were designed with securing the cards in place but almost making it easy to fan em out with ease. It also has that RFID protection too if you're about that. They have various designs for the clips, and you can even get a custom one as well.

Wallet was like $40-50, titanium clip was $50.

I highly recommend these to anyone in the thread looking for a new wallet.

Here are some bad ass wallets that anyone on GAF can love

Not sure about you but when I pay for something, I pull my wallet out. When that happens, people can see it and like any other piece of clothing/accessory, if they see it and like it, sometimes they comment on it. The lettering means little, the thing just looks nice.

It's no different to pulling up a sleeve to check your watch.

How many combat situations have you been in since you got this wallet? How has the wallet performed in said situations?

This is what I'm using except in black.

It's called ekster, and it has a tracker built into it too.

Okay now this is great, think I'm gonna have to put it on my Christmas list. I've looked at the Secrid wallet before but was hesitant on it as I don't like how the metal card protector is just glued to the leather wallet with a plastic piece. Looks to be much nicer integrated here.

Yo, not much of a pokemon fan/watcher, but what season/generation are those pokemons from? Would be interested in watching it.

Heh, this is rather an amusing question to me. They're Eevee and it's evolutions, probably the second most popular group of Pokemon outside of Pikachu. They originate back in first gen, though more have been added since in the even numbered generations.

Buying a TV with higher resolution does not get you better textures lol.

That's up to the developers.

Just saying.

So I originally came in here to scoff about how I wouldn't pay more than $150-$200 for a nice leather wallet, and then one of you had to go and link the Burberry wallets collection. I uh, fell in love with this crazy print:

And now I'm getting dressed to go pick it up at the Newbury St. location in Boston. So yea. Whoever linked Burberry, I both hate and love you.

I just kissed my decade old $20 Fossil wallet. Still going strong.

I just kissed my Fossil wallet goodbye for the above lol

Come on, man. Your wallet looks like any black leather from three feet away. Not a single person would know its a $250 piece of leather and let alone compliment you on it.

I don't live in Antarctica that I wear long sleeve all year long.

I still use the same €5 wallet I've had since I was 13. I'm 26 now. It's in my pocket every single day and it's filled to the brim with cards and other things and I've never lost a thing. What the hell do you guys do with your wallets?

Your're welcome.

I use money clip slim card holders now that I put my wallet in my front pocket. Picked up a nice Burberry one on sale recently for around 130ish?. Wanted one with a money clip and only a few companies have them. Coach has them for like $50 or so at outlets too.

I should keep an eye out for a Burberry wallet. Always liked them.

Mmm, quite tempted by that one tbh.

Honestly, to me the idea of spending more than £40-50 at the absolute most on a wallet is just ludicrous. Unless you're like Del Boy and his filofax and you're waving it around in the air all day for people to admire then there's no reason, beyond wanting people to ooh and aah over a small piece of leather, to spend $300 on one.

Sometimes I feel as though I live in a different world. If I was going to drop up to that amount of money, I'd rather pay someone to make a custom wallet for me.

What is the use case for a zipper on a wallet, is it just to keep it more secure? Seems like it would be really annoying after a bit.

I've had some Old Navy leather wallet that I think was about $40 for over 20 years. It's been through hell and is still holding up fine. I think I'd like to try a bi-fold though instead of a trifold, I kind of like the idea of just one bend in bills now.

Now this I can agree with, if you want to spend that money.

Find some leatherworker, specify the kind of wallet you want, and pay them $300 to make a custom wallet for you that is top quality and specific to your needs.

I've yet to hear complaints from users who've had them for a few years.
It's not going to stretch that much for pockets with already tight tolerances.

I agree that they do relax though as I have watch straps made from them.

My wife bought me a nice Diesel wallet for Christmas around 8 years ago as she insisted I retire my old velcro one that no longer closed!

I picked out a nice brown genuine leather one for around £35 and it's lasted me perfectly ever since, still looks great.

Not wanting to sound as though I'm looking down on people who choose to spend that much, but I just couldn't in good conscience spend hundreds of pounds on something as trivial as a wallet when so many people can't even afford to give their kids enough food to eat on a daily basis.
