Not a big fan of them shoving the new losties down our throat (dogen at the recital was unnecessary), and wtf at being a dad? guess I can roll with it.

I can't wait for the moment when you guys find out that the off-island meet-ups do indeed have a point. :D

via press release:

ABC Builds on the Year-Ago Tuesday in Adults 18-49 for the 3rd Week in a Row Jumping Over its Lead-in and Building Throughout its Telecast,

ABC’s “Lost” Is Tuesday’s No. 1 Scripted TV Program in Adults 18-49 for the 4th Straight Week

Opposite the Olympics and “Idol,” “Lost” is Up Week to Week and Year to Year

For its 2nd Straight Telecast, ABC’s “the forgotten” is TV’s No. 1 Scripted Show

At 10pm in Adults 18-49, Marking its 2nd-Highest Number Since Mid-November

Tuesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

Although airing against the Winter Olympics this year, ABC grew over the year-ago Tuesday (2/24/09) for the 3rd week in a row, jumping year to year by 37% in Adults 18-49 (2.6/7 vs. 1.9/5).

“Lost” (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Opposite considerable competition from the Vancouver Olympics and the second hour of Fox’s “American Idol” (Top 12 female semifinals performances) from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ABC’s “Lost” shot up from its lead-in by 5.5 million viewers (9.9 million vs. 4.4 million) and by 188% in young adults (4.6/11 vs. 1.6/4) and built its audience from start to finish (+5% in viewers/+7% in young adults). In fact for the 2nd week in a row, “Lost” outperformed NBC’s Olympic coverage in the 9 o’clock in both Adults 18-34 (+10% – 4.3/11 vs. 3.9/10) and Men 18-34 (+29% – 4.5/12 vs. 3.5/10).

Against the Winter Games and “Idol,” “Lost” grew its numbers over the prior week in both Total Viewers (9.9 million vs. 9.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.6/12 vs. 4.5/11).

Despite the intensified competition this year, “Lost” was up over the same telecast last season (Episode 4) in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 (9.8 million & 4.4/10 on 2/11/09).

“Lost” qualified as Tuesday’s No. 1 scripted TV program for the 4th consecutive week in Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and across key Men (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54).
“the forgotten” (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o’clock hour against the Olympics, ABC’s “the forgotten” registered as TV’s No. 1 scripted show in Adults 18-49 (1.7/5) for the 2nd straight telecast, generating the series’ 2nd-highest number since mid-November – since 11/17/09.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 36% currently, from 30% at the same point in 2009. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

Wasn't really feeling this past episode. :/

Season's been really inconsistent so far. They've been following great episodes up with lackluster ones. I thought LA X and The Substitute were both fantastic and I found them very interesting, but I can't bring myself to say much about last night's ep, similarly to What Kate Does. I didn't think it was as bad as that one, but in the same fashion, it just wasn't very memorable outside of a couple of scenes.

I like Dogen because I love the actor, but his character seems like he's going to end up very convenient to the plot in terms of linking things together, as opposed to a natural part of it.

That's a lot of diehards.

I was at my friend's dorm and on all the floors, people were watching Olympics. I finally got to one where they let me change the channel (they were waiting for some shitty reality show on MTV at 10pm).

Then these two cute looking girls walk in: "YOU GUYS WATCHING LOST? YES!!" and decided to watch along.

No... no happy ending... yet!

That said, anyone has a screengrab of the names on the lighthouse dial?

You know, I've really been enjoying Ken Tucker's (over at EW) mythology free reviews. He just started doing them this season, I think.

I can't fucking read Jeff (Doc) Jensen's. They're like 57 pages long and focus on the minute of the minute. He's dedicated, though. Gotta give him that.
I totally agree. Doc Jensen's insight really shines in a video format like "Totally Lost," but his articles are nearly unreadable nowadays.

Too many kooky references and awkward tangents. It's just gotten worse over the years. Ken Tucker has been a welcome alternative this season.

I think they're the same character, especially after reading a new episode analysis on DarkUFO.

Yeah, the "they're the same person" theory has been making the rounds.

I don't know how they can make that work, personally.

I now think that all the "others" in the X time line are plants. The Dogen cameo in last nights episode confirms this for me.

They are watching the X-ers, and I think they are they are interloping in their universe somehow.

Yeah this has been my theory since the premiere. It's obviously a staged timeline, a timeline that needed to happen, for whatever cause.

I like this idea. Last night during the Dogen cameo I thought to myself 'it really seemed like Dogen stayed behind to specifically talk to Jack, strange'

It's literally something I've been preaching on since the start of the season. Not trying to toot my own horn at all, seeing as I'm not the only one nor did I originate the theory, it just excites me, I think it's a really cool idea and I hope it pans out.

Never Seen Lost, Episode 5

After last week and figuring I had this totally solved, it turns out I was wrong. Last week’s episode had nothing to do with the series. We’re back this week to apparently what is the real story on the island, Jack and Hurley’s budding friendship.
Over at Jack’s mom’s house, we find out that David is probably afraid of Jack. Jack can’t understand why. I can. He’s terrible at everything.
Jack gets to the conservatory just in time to hear David’s audition. This dude can jam. Some creepy kid in a sweater vest tells Jack that his kid is really good. Jack’s response should have been “Stay away from my kid, weirdo”, but I think he just said “Thanks.” Turns out Creepy Kid is Toga’s son (Toga = Pretentious Asian). It turns out Toga is a really cool dude. He talks with Jack about parenting stuff and how much pressure kids are under. Jack stares blankly since he is a deadbeat. Toga asks how long David has been tickling the ivories. Jack says he doesn’t know. Toga looks angry. In fact, I am pretty sure this is the point where Toga stopped speaking English and started hating white people.

They find an inhaler and it belongs to Shannon. No clue who Shannon is but since the music changed, she must be important. They’re outside the caves that they used to live in. Ya know, before the real estate boom left all those condos that Sawyer was getting drunk in. In the cave are some rotting corpses. They say they forgot they were there. I don’t know how. Those seem like the kind of thing you would always see when you close your eyes. Hurley proposes that maybe the carcasses are them. That they traveled through time years ago and died and now this is their remains… C’mon Hurley, that’s ridiculous. Now get back to following the instructions that a ghost gave you at a temple with a life-restoring hot tub on a deserted island that has a murderous rain cloud where 50 people all ended up after surviving several plane crashes over the pacific ocean.
I think at this point it is pretty clear that Jacob wants Sawyer or Jack to take over the island. This is like watching The Bachelorette and you know that she’s picked out the people she wants in the finals, but there’s still 10 people left so she has to go through the motions and still go on dates and pretend to like them. Hurley and Jack are on a double date right now. Jack’s in the hot tub with the Bachelorette while Hurley pours himself more wine while he looks at the patio furniture.

I totally agree. I haven't been onto it as long as you, but I've been thinking it more and more.

I latched onto it the second Jack looked at one of his island-injuries in the mirror on the plane. Or at least, the idea was in an embryonic stage. Plus, Lighthouse sent that theory even further, when he looked at his appendix removal scar. Things that happened to him on the island are showing up, both physically and mentally. The bomb was supposed to reset time; as in, take the characters back to right before the crash and that did not happen. It was Jack's "destiny" to blow that bomb, but what resulted was not a time-erase, but rather the forging of a new timeline that will for whatever reason enable something to occur that could not have otherwise. Jacob, or someone, needs for something to happen in this new timeline. I'm excited to learn what that is.

I mean it's just someone like us who theorizes, but I find them to be particularly good.

LOL, I've been reading vozzek for a couple years now...:D

He is very fun to read, I remember in past seasons when everything was still up in the air he was big on this sort of "shared consciousness" and "recycled items and experiences" thing, just like most people, his theories went to hell when time travel was introduced. He still has good incite though.

It's like a giant Truman Show or something. Too awesome a concept to be true.

Going up against the Olympics and Idol and it still does great, that is stunning. I am glad people are on board for the final season cause I expect nothing but greatness. I think the final episodes of LOST will go down as some of the finest TV of all time, if anything just as an example of a show actually pulling off its mystery concept from beginning to end and not have it screw up... X-Files.

Kind of, yeah. To an extent anyway. Clearly Faraday's concept of "whatever happened, happened" must apply (or so we think?) so I can't sit here and say that what is happening in this new timeline is fake, or not real. But it is something that is happening by forced hand. A created timeline, not natural.

Jacobs been throwing people under the bus for a long fucking time now. How bout those 200 people who died on 815, eh?

And how about Nadia?

Someone should make a list of all the people Gary killed and all the people Jacob killed.

For example, the Dharma genocide? Jacob probably ordered Richard and Ben to do that.

And yeah, everyone else on the plane, Jacob didn't care about them.

Even though Lost keeps pushing us towards good vs evil (the subtitles keep referencing it), it's more like selfish vs selfish.

Gary and Jacob are probably brothers that their mother dropped on the island because she was tired of dealing with their shit.

Gary :lol That literally made me laugh out loud. Perfect name.

Another thing:

Take into consideration all the people from Tail Section that the Others took away, based on Jacobs lists.

What they did was bring those people into the Others and give them a home, and save them from living in the wild. Jacob was being very considerate of people who weren't Candidates!

This would have also happened with the main castaways, however when they found out about Ethan, that pretty much completely ruined everything and the Others were not able to do with the main group what they did with the tail section.

I just realized why MiB wants to get off the island so badly. Why he set all these events in motion. And why it will all come to an end on May 23rd. He wants to play Super Mario Galaxy 2 on release day.

Fuckin' eh, I just read that...I wish he wrote for LOST! :lol

I don't think the real answers will be as compelling as his stuff.

OH MY FUCKING GOD YOU'RE RIGHT

FUUUUUUUUUUUU

Jacob's body count is definitely higher than MIB's.

And what about the lives that didn't get created in this timeline due to his narcissism? Come on, who the fuck is he that all of these "candidates" lives and the lives of people around them must be thrown into flux or thrown away? For what, so he can find himself a worthy replacement?

Again, this is all a means to an end and Jacob's somehow trying to prevent some catastrophic event from taking the lives of millions or billions than cool. Stand up guy. Anything less than that means he's a shitrag.

One of these days, sooner or later... I'm going to find a mushroom, my friend.
Always nice talking to you, Bowser.
