Also who wants to bet that Faraday is a concert Pianist in the alt timeline, having followed his musical dream with no pressure to follow science.

Maybe that will somehow link him up to Jack and Jack's son in a future episode.

The episode started off a bit weird for me. It wasn't really clicking for a while. I think it had to do with seeing Ben so striped down, so vulnerable. It was everything I disliked about new Ben on full display for about half the episode. The side story was ok, we got one major revelation that the island was still around in their lifetime and Ben actually visited there. I loved that they had that dickless Peck as the principle. Alex as a student was a well done parallel to his island self.

Meanwhile the Jack, Hurley and Richard stuff again started rather awkwardly. They sort of just meet in the jungle, they all speak to each other in riddles, it was annoying. They went to the black rock which confirmed something we all figured out already, so no biggie.

Then the episode shifted and I think it happened when Locke showed up. He gives Ben a way out, a way to regain his power. All of a sudden the episode had energy, it had feeling. Back in the Black Rock you had the brilliant scene with Jack and Richard, seeing Jack fully committed to believing in destiny, wow!

Nothing comes close to Ben's scene, I was nearly in tears. It was probably the most emotional scene of the season so far. It was a character coming to terms with all the evil he had done before, a character realizing that he fought for the wrong reasons. I always wanted Ben to either become the super evil mastermind once again or redeem himself and become a hero. Not just any hero, I expect Darth Vader level redemption here, I expect Ben to sacrifice everything for the greater good. With that speech and how he chose to stay on the beach I now know they are going down that path and it fits. That paralleled with what he did for Alex in the other dimension was a powerful statement, that this is the new Ben.

In the end I ended up loving the episode. I loved that they are back on the beach. I love the fact that this season they are making sure to visit every single location that has ever mattered to this series.

We got Team Jack, you know what, GO TEAM JACK! Yeah Locke is a badass, yeah he has a bunch of the cool people, but he is an evil bastard. Jack is finally accepting that he has a greater reason for being on the island than "KAAATE!" Go Jack, go Hurley, go Ben, go Richard, go Miles, go Lapidus, go Sun, and I know eventually Kate, Jin and Sawyer will join them as well. The best part is that they aren't for Jacob, this isn't a team built around worshiping him, it might be what Jacob wants but it includes people that have found their own way, their own path. It's not a group of brainwashed infected freaks like Flocke has.

Woah at Widmore coming to the island, oh man I can't wait for the Widmore vs Ben showdown. I was hoping it was Desmond though.

I've watched a lot of LOST in my day. All of the shit that's happened is constantly flowing through my mind, which is why I've had to watch these episodes [atleast] twice. But this season is one of the main reasons the mini-reunion almost got to me, and why I have a box of kleenix ready for the Sun/Jin reunion.

"So, Dr. Linus, what will it be?"

:D

Still the same old Pecker even after all these years.

I had forgotten about that, thanks for the reminder.

Shame that I had the ending of tonight's episode spoiled by pressing the Info button on my Comcast remote at the start.

So, are we to assume that one of Widmore's mercs are named Wallace?

I was spoiled to the fact that Widmore would appear in the episode earlier in the week, but I assumed it would be in the X timeline. Due to Whiskey & Dr. Linus being an captivating fuckin episode I totally forgot about it, though, and was blown away as if I had never been spoiled.

Course correction ftw!

Hey guys, I think we're overlooking the most important part about this episode. That submarine didn't look half bad! They might even have actually stuck a fucking periscope in a few feet of water and filmed it.

We are also forgetting that the Island moved and thus the coordinates are different as well and yet Widmore found it.

Last we saw Widmore he was talking to Mrs. Hawking, the woman with the magic machine that says where the island will be.

I just hope if Widmore gets the chop, it's more dignified than this:

I will keep watching just out of curiosity. But if i knew then what i know now, i would have stopped watching this a long time ago. I really like the show, but i am very disappointed.

I thought Wallace was just to get Jack to go to the Lighthouse. I didn't think he was actually important.

Yeah he was gonna write her an Anti-Letter of De-Recommendation. That'd be harsh to have happen.

It's a dumb plot device used on what is a great plot point.

Fantastic episode overall. I got a nice tingle of nostalgia seeing them go back to that spot on the beach in slo-mo and I immediately thought of season 1. And Ben's confession to Illana was very touching, along with her answer. Van Peebles sure directed a damn good episode of LOST.

That crossed my mind until Jacob said "I'm sure he'll find another way" after Hurley reminded him of the fact that his mirror was shattered.

Maybe the name Wallace was a red herring but obviously Jacob saying that someone was coming to the Island was not.

I know you guys are still trying to process things but pay attention: CHARLES WIDMORE...IS BACK ON THE FUCKING ISLAND. say that aloud 5 times and get back to me. Shit got real last week... this week, GAF, I don't even have a name for it. Charles Widmore is back on the fucking island..

This episode took this scene from awesome to epic:

Thank you.

Great episode.

Really loved the stuff with Richard, he is my favourite.

And that slowmo scene at the end with them being back togeather was touching + richard now being part of their beach group where they started even better.

I loved how in the beach scene wide shot right before the submarine reveal it was the group in the middle with Ben and Richard standing off to either side separate from everyone else.

They might be with the group, but they aren't really part of it yet.

Haven't finished watching the episode, but I remember reading a "theory" few days ago that said the reason lapidus is still around was because "maybe he was supposed to be piloting oceanic 815??" and... well I can't believe that person got this right.. so god know how many "spoilers-disguised-as-theories" I've read... I'm getting rid of ALL of my lost feeds on google reader, fuck this I'm pissed off.

Now I'll go back to finish watching the EP. :D

This was confirmed in the second episode of season four. :lol

It was noted since season 4 episode 2 that Lapidus was supposed to be piloting 815. No need to be pissed off...just pay better attention to the show.

Promo spoilers:
Sawyer made it out of the cave!

Yeah, Ben looked so lonely during the slo-mo scene. :lol

Yeah, that's, uh, basically something that we learn about Frank a few minutes after we are introduced to him.

Illana; "Jacob was the closest thing I ever had to a father". A substantial reveal about Illana. You guy still don't want them to "waste" an episode on her?

Two things are worth repeating right now:

Illana=hottest chick on the show currently

I <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 Illana.

I actually agree. She's hot.

Great episode.

Ok ok... but this guy also predicted the
Facob
stuff, enough to make me suspicious.

The previews for this week showed Ben reacting to Smoke-noises while he was digging the grave.

Roger: "Imagine what our life what have been had we stayed"

Aside from the fact that we know what is life "would've" been, this implies that they didn't escape a sinking(or evacuated) island by the skin of their teeth. That the Island was perfectly fine when they left.

Great ep. I don't think it's the best of the season so far, but then it's hard to tell since it's been so strong. The music in Hurley and Jacks first scene reminded me of a Bug Bunny cartoon with someone sneaking along on their tiptoes :lol

Has this been posted?

http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2010/03/latest-from-tv-guide-magazine-march-9th.html#more

Quotes from TV Guide interview with Darlton. It's on the spoiler side of Dark UFO, but it's all just stuff from the magazine. I'd avoid if you're a super freak though, it does specifically say a certain character is having scenes when you wouldn't expect it (unless you follow the news ;) )

Stuff that isn't spoilery but just clears up some stuff

So will we ever learn why women couldn’t carry babies to term on the island? Isn’t that the whole reason Juliet was brought over by Dharma in the first place?—Jean B., via e-mail

Lindelof says the show is not going to specifically state why, however, “we feel like we’ve given you the empirical data so you can figure it out for yourself.” Hmm… a little more help please for the clueless? “Clearly Ethan was born on the island in 1977,” continues Lindelof. “That’s the last baby that we know of who was born on the island. And then something happened between 1977 and when our show takes place in 2004 (when Claire arrived eight months pregnant) where it’s been a long time since women have been able to have babies on the island. What might have happened between those two points that could have created fertility issues?”

Who are the other unrecognizable names on Jacob’s wheel and in the cave? Names of friends and crew members perhaps?—Holly, via e-mail

Lindelof assures that “a tremendous amount of time and energy went into the name selection on both the (cave) wall and the wheel, and to give shout-outs to pals or crew members would somehow lessen all the time and energy that Jacob has apparently put in to choosing his candidates.” So we may or may not learn more about who those other names are.

So why is baby Aaron so special?—Jennifer, via e-mail
“There’s a running theme with special children on our show – like Aaron and Walt,” notes Yunjin Kim. But more than being concerned if Aaron can “shoot lasers out of his eyes,” Cuse says fans should focus on how his existence is effecting characters on the island, specifically Kate, who “stated that her mission was to go back to the island and find Claire and bring her back to the outside world so she could be the mother to her own child.”

If Jacob died in the fire, then can we trust the “person” appearing to Hurley? Couldn’t it be the Man in Black taking another form? — Jeremy, via e-mail
Nope, says Garcia. “Hurley is the only one who can see Jacob, so I’m pretty confidant that is indeed Jacob,” he says. Confirms Cuse, “You can trust that's a reliable representation of Jacob.”
Why is the Man in Black now “stuck” in Locke’s body as Ilana mentioned? —Rob M., San Diego, Ca.
Per Lindelof, “There are all these rules that govern the way the island works, and one of them is that when Jacob died, whatever form the Monster was in at that time he cannot change anymore.”

And my favourite:

The date on Claire’s ultrasound— as seen in the Season 6 premiere—says 10-22-04. Oceanic Flight 815 crashed on 9-22-04. Where did the month go? —Victoria Caruso, Valley Stream, N.Y.
“Actually, that was her due date,” clarifies Lindelof.

Retcon'ing their own fuckups!
