Whoever mentioned earlier that Ben may be the hero, I wouldn't put it past the writers, this is certainly a possibility. I think he's turned a corner now and is going to be a new character. Interesting that both universes kind of match up with each other in some strange way.

Locke was never making decisions for everyone though, save for when he turned the wheel and left the island. Which I might add saved lives.

For the most part, Locke's failures have hurt Locke, whereas Jack's failures have hurt many people.

Locke and Jack, like everyone else, have made decisions heavily influenced by outside forces.

Locke's decisions have lead to more profound negative effects. They lead to time travel issues and Jacob's death. He should have told Jack he was a cripple when Jack said miracles don't happen. He gave up very easily when Jack had no faith and wanted to leave.

Jack has been full on clean up mode. He ended the time travel problems and he is obviously Jacob's choice.

Jack thought blowing up the time bomb could single-handedly reset everything, and it directly lead to fixing the time problem.

Cleanup of a major fuck up that lead to years of suffering.

I think more people need to heed my pitch for newcomers to Lost.

"Come for the mysteries. Stay for the characters."

It's what I've been telling everyone who asks me about getting into the show, and as the seasons went on, and the interviews came out, I knew more and more I was right.

All the mysteries are intriguing, but ultimately any story lives and dies on the strength of its characters and their development. Even then, I'd say that they've put way more thought into the mythology/mysteries than 99% of the shows I've ever seen. This isn't Star Trek or Back to the Future where they just make words up to sound authoritative. They give just enough information to make it somewhat plausible in a sort of pseudo-science way. Just enough for anyone who cares to look at the puzzle pieces and go, "mmmmmmmmm maaaybe".

Really though, the show is about the characters and that much was obvious from the first season. It's only become more and more true since then, and in all their recent interviews, Lindelcuse seem damn near desperate to drive this point home.

A little OT, but gdt is House getting a new season next year. I don't watch much TV as is, but House is fucking awesome, just started watching it about 3 weeks ago. I'm on season 3 now, so I should have all the seasons done by next year. Other than that though, TV will be as pointless as its always been, especially without LOST, I'll probably never care about another show as much as this one!

House is pretty awesome...but quality steadily decreases til about the second half of season 5, where shit goes off the rails. it's recovered quite a bit since then with Season 6 and even at it's worse it's still better than a lot of TV, but I just don't find myself caring at all like I used to. House is still awesome, but you take him away, you got Wilson and everyone else that doesn't matter to anyone.


As for post-lost shows, we're pretty set for a while with Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy IMO. No real set end dates yet for those as far as I know.
