I wonder if they'll shed any light on the whole, Jacob instructing them to create a landing strip, or if we're suppose to just own it up to him being an ominous being.

Good god, that was a terrible episode. 5 episodes left & they're still devoting nearly entire episodes to this stupid alternative reality crap & how all the cast members coincidentally bump into each other.

I had to switch to some random channel about a woman making egg shell decorations for most of the episode.

QFT. They need to stop fucking around. There are only 5 episodes left before the series finale. Give the viewers what we really want. More shirtless Sawyer, more slut-mode Sun, more impromptu Kate showers, and more of Jin in tight shirts. No one really wants to see Desmond or Penny, they're B-list side characters with no place in the story.

I watched the preview, and good God, next week is a Hurley episode? Another episode devoted to the boring fat man no one likes? No shirtless Sawyer, no sale. I think I'm ready to bail on this terrible series. I don't know why I keep watching it, when I could be watching something like NCIS instead.

Ugh, when you put it like that, the premise leading up to the series finale seems really weak. I just hope there's still some crazy reveal left to be had.

he will destroy the world if he leaves. thats what it has been building up to.

i know you are making a joke but if there is one thing that S6 is full up on of its fanservice. Zomg Minkowski! Wow Faraday! Miles and Sawyer buddy cop!

Heres my prediction for next week.. 3/4 the show is all about Hurley X living the good life. Probably a Libby or Nikki and Paulo cameo. Last couple of minutes Desmond shows up and says something ominous that ends in "brotha". LOST.

Some Random musings post re-watch and after a much needed digestion period:

Desmond & Charlie took a nose dive into the same Marina where's Desmond docked" Our Mutual Friend" and was eventually shot in the main timeline.

Eloise has knowledge of both timelines: "The thing you wanted most, my Husband's approval" . That's a past tense statement about a totally separate timeline. So either like Faraday, she's already caught wind of her main-timeline experience or whatever ability that allowed her to stop Desmond from buying the ring, point out Red Shoe Guy etc... in FBYE, carried over.

Faraday X(talking about seeing Charlotte): "She was eating a chocolate bar" Charlotte's last [incoherent] words before she died were "I'm not allowed to have Chocolate before dinner". Years later he also hears child Charlotte say this in 1977.

One particularly interesting thing I took from the Faraday scene is something I've suspected for a while-- he is innately cognitive to all of the space/time fuckery. In Confirmed Dead & The Variable we see him completely distraught over the [fake] crash of Oceanic 815, only he has no idea know why. In the X-Timeline it didn't take a near death experience, rather just the mere of his Main timeline love to kick-start the bleed over effect/awareness/memory of the timeline proper. And we're not talking about simple visions or moments of deja-vu, but advanced knowledge of incredibly complex quantum mechanics. Powerful brain on that kid.

The boulder/stream analogy seems to be exactly what's going on and now we're starting to see the two parts of the stream converge on the other side.

I'm not even sure if I believe this yet but I'll throw it out there anyway: Could the reason for Faraday's inexplicable memory loss condition was Faraday X unknowingly ripping those memories from his original self or something similar?

Desmond's consciousness universe travel(don't know what to call this :lol ) worked similar to the time-flashing in The Constant & Flashes Before Your Eyes. Mostly like Flashes where his true(most current) consciousness spawned a heightened awareness but never fully took over--in The Constant his past self did all the driving. But in all three of those instances Desmond had full knowledge of what went on during each bout of consciousness jumping after they ended.

Desmond X-passed out because once Desmond left him. Each version's new found knowledge consists of what only what we saw them experience in the episode. So for Desmond X that means those visions of the island-timeline which he's now sort of able to put into context thanks to Faraday. For Desmond-proper he remembers everything that went down in the X-timeline from the airport to the stadium.

I love how pretty much everything in the conversation between Desmond and Eloise has a double meaning. :lol
Also, 2-disc soundtrack for the season or bust. Loved the Desmond X theme.

EDIT- Oh god I think Giacchino was referencing his Jurassic Park PSX score at the beginning of the ep. Awwweesome. :D

Something about DES asking about penny, that it's a violation, that he wasn't ready. She knooooows. Odds are, this could be the Eloise from 1977 after the bomb happened. She had the book from the future, but noticed things started happening differently! She's protecting the 2nd world!!!

Or none of what I wrote. I don't know
That is my guess too. Original losties are responsible for changing the timeline, MIB had nothing to do with X world's creation whatsoever. Louise and some of the other people became aware of the other world, and are somehow trying to protect it or something.

My guess is that both Jacob and MIB are dead in X world.

I did get a hard on when I saw Faraday so it's working!!

This got to be one of my favorite episodes of all seasons, just so many amazing things about it. Fuck man I'm already sad that we will soon have a week without lost. Hate as much as you want but the flash sideways are great and Desmond starting to figure it out is so good.

Let's be honest here. That episode wasn't a complete waste of time, but...

Just another episode where people with answers simply aren't communicating them to others. I'm really fucking annoyed every time the writers do that. I'm not exactly sure how showing a shed with two giant magnets in it to Jin is simpler than explaining to him, in words, what's going on.

Let's be honest here, if you want to watch TV where characters just explain what is happening to other characters (aka The Audience) go and watch V.

Aesius said:
Agreed. My friends and I started laughing out loud during Desmond's scenes with Charlie in the hospital and with Faraday on the bench. The dialogue was just ridiculous and, as you said, "forced".

It was still a good episode, but I'm a little baffled by the massive love it's getting in this thread.
People being Desmond fanboys and its obvious some folks have not seen better TV by the way they mark out. Yeah the show has scope, unfortunately the writers are nowhere near the best. But judging by some posts week in and out, I would have never guessed that. I mean, we had people defending What Kate Does :lol as if Kate were their GFs.

What? Explain.
He is going to do what Charlie did. Give people a reason to at least remember the Island similar to Jack trying to bring everyone back to the Island. He may well remember everyone now.

Solid Moustache said:
So she can die later of a very slow and painful death and not from a shot, of course. (Yeah good point, it doesn't make sense, or maybe because It was a woman? Have we seen sayid killing women before? I think he refused to kill that spy of his if I remember correctly)
He had a flashback where he was guilty of pouring hot oil over a womans arms and hands, so he may be pretty indiscriminate. Also, didn't he love the spy and killed her anyway. Dang, I can't remember.

Let's be honest here, when Widmore said "It would be faster to show you" to Jin, he was lying.

That scene was badly done, Im sure thousands of americans went......what!?!

I think it was intentional until Desmond is told to pick Charlie up. I knew they were talking about Faraday when they were talking about his son being a musician merging classical and rock music since that dream was taken from him in the main timeline.

What was interesting was Eloise knowing what's up but not Widmore.

jamesinclair said:
The ending was weird. Is Desmond retarded, or does he have a secret plan?
I'm going to go with him having a plan or else he will realize that they're going to find out anyway, so he needs to explain things to them ASAP. He would only be looking for the ones he remembered.

JGS said:

Maybe he does know what's up, but simply chooses to ignore it in this life. They were both from the island, they should both know what's going on. Maybe he chooses to just live this life to the fullest and enjoy what he can, while she feels she has a responsibility to at least try to warn Desmond about something if she can.

Lost is always at it's best when the characters have these little moments of discovery. Tonight's episode had a few really good ones.

Every flashsideways is about bring a character to the end of their development. They all have their purposes now, it's time to act on them.

I don't know. He was certain Eloise was going to tear into Desmond as if they had never met and it seemed like Eloise was hinting that she was making it so that Widmore & Desmond were pals.

I think Eloise realized that wherever they were, it was a pretty delicate situation and Desmond was about to mess it all up, which is exactly what happened by the time he met Penny.

Oh I'm sure Widmore had no idea that Desmond was important to the island in the X timeline. What I meant was that Widmore should still be "aware" of the overall picture and the stakes, he just chooses to ignore it and he probably doesn't want to hear about what they're "supposed" to have done or whatever from his wife. They both should be well aware that this is an altered reality, but he probably doesn't care as much as she does.

I misunderstood. That's probably true.

In fact, I don't see how anyone could be married to Eloise and not know all the details. She spills the beans pretty frequently even if the doesn't make sense.

It had good stuff, it just wasn't that engaging. It didn't feature any of the real characters we love, just glimpses of them at times. At least it showed us that the X dimension will start to play a part in the island story, that was great to see but honestly I was hoping the whole dimension thing would be merging or coming to an end by now. While it was a good episode with Desmond, it wasn't really Desmond, and that is the problem with this X stuff.
Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoa. Did I just flash to some freaky ass X timeline where Desmond isn't tied with Ben for best Lost character?

I don't know what the hell this "Battlestar pacing" that you guys are bitching about is (never seen the show) but I'd almost rather have these awesome character episodes with a slow progression towards an awesome last 3 or so hours with a huge conflict.

I misunderstood Widmore in the beginning of the episode and thought Charlie was his son. I continued believing this until I saw Faraday. Unintentional mind blowage in Lost. :lol

If Desmond believes that by sacrificing himself and the lives of the other 815ers in the flashsideways he will go back to his other life and experience that pure love rather than glimpse it which a near-death experience offered, I wonder if he'll tell Charlie that in the other timeline he likely drowns. I wonder if he knows the fate of other people such as Faraday too.

The fuck?! Did someone just post Battlestar spoilers in this thread? FUCK. YOU. I've managed to be spoiler-free for years now and I get spoiled in a Lost thread of all places... Great.

He' s going to make a sacrifice in the island timeline not the flash sideways,

Tell us, what battlestar spoiler do you now know?

I'm not entirely sure what to make of the way in which characters are becoming aware of the other timeline, but it's definitely very interesting. Desmond episodes are pretty much the best in the show, and this was no different. Maybe not as good as some as his previous ones, but awesome nonetheless.

I'm glad Charlie disappeared after the first third of the episode, too, because he was annoying me even more than he did on the island. Better yet he was replaced with Faraday, who is obviously completely amazing.

ITT, people who didn't like the Sideways flashes to begin express confusion at people who enjoyed the episode where the Sideways universe actually began to have an explanation.

Still having trouble finding the answers brigade making any sense with the "no noone ask any questions" nonsense.

"It would be better if I showed you."
"No, you tell me right now widmore!"
"...Well, alright. We're gonna hit Desmond with a massive amount of electromagnetic energy because he's the only man in the world who withstood that immense blast before."
If Jin remembers anything about the EM hotspots he studied in 77, he's probably going to do everything he can to get Desmond from doing the test, which wouldn't really make for a huge answers episode so many people have a hard on for.
if he doesn't remember, he'll say "Huh?" and then Widmore will say
"...It would be better if I showed you."

It's pretty obvious most of the time why a question isn't being answered, you don't have to feign ignorance, guys.

one of the best lost episodes ever. desmond delivers yet again. i found myself giggling like a little girl during the last part of this episode. desmond has that effect on me. oh my god.

btw, did anyone gif desmond's twitching about 1:38 in yet? :lol

The whole issue with the timelines merging or whatever, is that some would be better off in one timeline, and others in the other one.

Shit is gonna go down.

Because it felt a lot like the constant? Desmond flashing back and forth, exchange with faraday, finding penny, etc. The constant was better of course, but this felt really similar.
This is my favorite Lost post EVER.

someone with some common sense!

$20 says that we'll get a scene very similar to this one depicting MIB's transformation into Smokey.

lol? The post you quoted is effectively the opposite of common sense. Common sense would dictate that, particularly after this latest episode, the sideways timeline is hugely crucial to both the characters on the island and the overall story.
