Interested in card games?
Try Gwent or Hearthstone, not too demanding.

My personal preference is Gwent.

Cosmic star heroine? I dont know the exact requirements but judging from the graphics i think it can run quite well on a laptop. It is very fun RPG

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 & 2

Capitalism 2 just came out on Steam

Chris Sawyers Locomotion

VNs like Steins Gate and Fata Morgana when you want a break from gaming.

Hello friends,

Tomorrow and over the next few weeks I'm going to have a series of long (+10 hours) flights where I will have some free time. I'm flying solo and I figured I might as well get a nice game to pass the time. Given the fact that my laptop is pretty weak (Intel Graphics 5300) it can't be something too demanding. Also I think action/platforming games will be a bit difficult on an ultrabook keyboard.

I'd love to hear some suggestions - I generally can't really sleep well on flights.

Thanks

Go on GoG.com and pick up the classic Sierra and LucasArts point-and-click games. They will pass the time, they will leave you with a story, and hey, you might even learn something.

The Binding of Isaac.

I found that game back in 2012 when I burnt my GPU. Then I spent 145 hours to main game, 595 hours to Rebirth.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2
Stardew Valley
FTL
Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (if you're into that sort of game)
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2
Undertale
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

Get Danganronpa, let your fellow passengers see the waifus.
No but rly, that or The Nonary Games would be pretty nice for on a plane, if you're into that genre.

FTL: Faster Than Light
Gunpoint
Fez
Axiom Verge
Torchlight II
*OpenTTD
*Command and Conquer Gold
*MechCommander
*Starcraft: Brood War

* = game is freeware

As for Civ V, as others have mentioned, I played it on my shitty '08 Macbook and was able to run it just barely. I would think that modern hardware could run it if you bump the resolution down a bit.

Intel shows that Civ V will run at 30 fps or greater here.
Quite a few games listed here if you want to glance at it and test any out that you have.

I'm disappointed GAF.

I'd recommend some Spelunky. Also, try emulating some games like Super Mario World, or Final Fantasy. Great travel games.
