Lowest Average Frame Rate In a Game You Finished?

For me: Zelda Ocarina of Time, 20 fps, and I'll do it again. Modern games? I don't know, really, I couldn't play something from start to finish at 20 fps average.
 
Witcher 2 getting 10-20 FPS most of the time on my shitty laptop. I played WoW on dial up for about 2 1/2 years so shitty framerates don't bother me much as long as it's consistent.
 
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

The N64 had bad frame-rate in spades.

Dark Souls has a really shitty frame rate in specific areas, but not as consistently bad as N64 games. Donkey Kong 64 was a nightmare, but I never actually beat it.
 
Probably Bioshock 2 PS3. We all know how well Unreal runs on there. Come to think of it I don't think it was worth all this suffering.
 
Ignoring PC gamers that tried to play games on woefully inadequate hardware, the Number One answer in the entire thread will be Rare games, I think. They tried to push the N64 graphics to new heights, while at the same time pushing framerate to new lows.

My answer would probably be Starfox (SNES) or Goldeneye (N64). Jet Force Gemini had a terrible framerate, but I never finished it since it had the hallmark trait of all Rare N64 games -- "Go back and collect all this garbage or you will never see the last level."
 
OoT was 20 fps? That might be it for me. I've past it like 9 times.

If I didn't know that, I would have said Far Cry 3 on 360. I know that game was running lower than 30 fps, but man I did enjoy playing it. Anyone got any specific numbers on that game. There were times where I felt it must have dipped into the single digits. Slowdown everywhere.
 
I feel like Perfect Dark had a worse framerate than Zelda: OOT. So probably that. Either way, pretty sure it was a N64 game.

Also SOTC.
 
Majora's Mask or Conkers Bad Fur Day.

SOTC on PS2 really made me sick with all the chugging and constant pop-in, the entire technical aspect of that game is horrible. It felt like motion sickness.
 
Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Also my 2 favorite games of all time. Nearly platinumed them both! The game felt like it was at 20 FPS max and dropped to like 5 at times. As unplayable as it was it was the best damn game I've EVER had the pleasure of playing. 1000hr in both.
 
Battlefield 2 when it barely came out on my old old rig, but damn it was still so much fun at 10 fps.

Since that doesn't really count as finishing I'd have to say Dynasty Warriors 3 coop on the PS2.
 
Arma 2 and Battlefield 4.

I played them on an Intel integrated chipset (HD 2500).

The frame rate did not exceed 23 FPS for any appreciable period of time, for BF4 it was around 20 FPS average, and Arma was around 15 FPS average.

I managed around 50-100 hours on both.

I played it literally for 1 minute. Saw the frame rate, horrible graphics, pathetic gunplay, and input lag and literally uninstalled it. To call it a game is an insult to games.
 
I used to play CS 1.4 on an old P4 with no GPU. It averaged ~15 fps from what I remember. I didn't understand that PC games should be running smoothly, but when I saw my friend's computer running it at 60fps, I was astounded.

Ditto, I was going to mention those same games. Although I did also play about 15 hours of The Witcher 2 in my laptop and under 19 fps. The last part of the game ran better.

Imagine EDF's frame rate, lowered even further thanks to a lazy 50Hz PAL port. Imagine! The frame rate in some levels never once made it out of the single digits.
 
Definitely has to be an N64 game, if I had to guess I'd say one of Rare's games, probably Jet Force Gemini or Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Why was it so acceptable back then? Less than 60 fps these days and everyone cries bloody murder, less than 30 and folks are ready to call the better business bureau and get their money back.

But in the n64 days? Everything was like 20fps, and everyone loved it.
 
Yeah one of the multitude of N64 games like OOT, MM, Turok 2, Perfect Dark, Star Wars Rogue Squadron/Naboo ect....
 
I have no idea what the actual framerate was but things got pretty bad at certain times during Tomb Raider with TressFX turned on.
 
Those old PS2 Dynasty Warriors when you are surrounded by enemies....

This narrative that nobody cared about framerate until recently is revisionist history. Lots of games in the 32/64-bit era were lambasted in the press for how poorly they ran. Many Doom ports, Daytona USA being a locked 20 FPS on Saturn, etc.
 
When it first came out, GTA III on my PC. I got it as a present, and they didn't know about "system requirements". I believe my PC was packing a Celeron D 600mhz processor, ~128mb RAM and a video card that can be summed up as "LOL". I completed the entire game to 100% at an average of around 11FPS using the top down camera. Occasionally, I drop back to the 3rd person camera, and 3-5FPS, to just soak in the beauty of Liberty City.
 
I'm pretty sure I played and beat Half Life 2 and Episode 1 on a GeForce 4 MX.

Lowest settings, sub 15FPS.
