Lowest-Metascore game you actually enjoyed?

Rogue Warrior with a 29 Metascore. I found that game really funny and haven't found a glitches, so I wonder why it only got 29. It should be at least at 60...

Risen 2 PS3 (47). It's the worst version but I still loved it despite it's flaws. Found a save breaking bug ten hours in and restarted it without even blinking. If you're interested in the game DON'T GET THE PS3 VERSION.

Lol, just bought it today. It was dirt cheap though.

Let's see...

Bloody Roar 4 (59)
Urban Reign (60) - criminally underrated!
Vanguard Bandits (62)
Evil Zone (62)

Am I the only one amazed by how high these are? I know it's pointed out everywhere that the scooring system starts at 8, but it's still so strange to see such high numbers and even Sonic 06 (my choice) got 46.

I had fun with knack and it's 54 score. Helped I only paid $20 for it brand new on clearance at SAMs club.

For me it was Mana Khemia: Student Alliance for the PSP(metacritic 41), although I admit I didn't play it until the digital download version, which fixed the biggest issue people had (loading times).

People really consult metascore to decide on a game? I guess I am doe-eyed and naive. Or, more accurately, some people will buy a bridge in Brooklyn if a few people on the internet rate it highly.

Seems like there are few games at 40~ or below that I really liked, just looking at this thread alone. 50+ seems to have plenty, with a few just a hair shy of a 70 rating (e.g., Resident Evil 6, Earth Defense Force 2025, Binary Domain - why do game journos have such bad taste in TPS? lol). It never fails to astonish me the PC and 360 versions of the The Last Remnant have the same aggregate score, especially after reading the criticisms of the 360 version.

All video game scores get boosted by 30 points or so for no apparent reason. I really have no clue what the difference is between a 45% rated game and a 60% rated game. Usually anything below 60% is unplayable anyway. (Which I'm guessing is why Mana Khemia got such a low score - the disk version was unplayable and the digital version was fine).

Red Steel @ 63
Killer Is Dead @ 64

Red Steel was not THAT bad. In fact friends and I had lot of fun with it, esp the local multiplayer. It got a lot of backlsh because of the Ubisoft bullshots fiasco and the whole "Wii is underpowered and useless" phase. I'd put it in the 75-80 territory.'

Too Human for me.

I loved collecting late game Aesir armor, upgrading with rare runes, and min/maxing the game.

Reminded me of a more arcade focused Demon Souls. Hub world to self-contained levels, difficult, hidden mechanics.

Against

Two Worlds for the 360 - though I'm surprised it's as high as 67, I remember people bagging on it (and rightfully so in some ways). I just found the hilarious voice acting endearing and the game fun to play.

The First Templar too, which sits at 57 on PC. It's not a great game but it's not a bad one either and I found it pretty solid overall.

I'm sure I enjoyed some PSX games that would have been reviewed poorly if Metacritic had existed at the time... Rally Cross, for example, seems like a game that wouldn't review well but my buddy and I enjoyed it quite a bit. (Edit: Just remembered GameRankings, duh, and the game has an 85% on there, so... Nevermind then? Seems high)

This sounds super snobby but I think my answer is Radiata Stories, which has a 74. I actually didn't like the game at all for the first several hours I played and when I decided to give it one last shot, it totally clicked for whatever reason. In spite of all its flaws I ended up adoring the game in the end. A whole bunch of charm, a really addictive recruiting hook and a fun battle system. Really liked that game

Izuna 1 and 2 (DS)
Nier
Resident Evil 6
Drakengard 3

All in the 60 score range.

As a kid I liked pretty much everything so I won't list any old game.

Mars: War Logs is at 59 but is quite enjoyable, presumably the reviews were done when the game was still quite buggy and before they completely rewrote the English script. And I don't know why Marlow Briggs is at 65 but it's much better than that.

Because co-op. (Played through once).

On a related note: Fuck metacritic. It is bullshit. All review scores are bullshit.

Digimon World 2(PS): 42

Also, in my earliest example, there was no metacritic score for "The Three Stooges" for the NES, but I really liked that game, even if its basically impossible to beat. Imagine the nostalgia shattering that happened when AVGN and other reviewers started shitting all over it.

Damnation - 36
Mindjack - 44
One Piece Romance Dawn - 42
Quantum Theory - 43 (37 on 360)
Castlevania Judgement - 49
Star Trek - 45 (fantastic on Co op)
Bodycount - 50
Witch and Hero - 44

I thought of something that could be low and searched it; I tried to see what I could find under 50. These are fairly recent for me, within the last few months or years. I never look up the Metascore for anything and I'm surprised some of these are as high as they are. Well I can say I don't regret playing any of these games. Okay maybe Mindjack a little.

i'll throw in this unpopular choice

Ragnarok Odyssey ACE - 67

I like it more than most Hunter games, because it's the perfect blend of larger than life bosses and Musou style Square into Triangle utility. Did it better than even Omega Force can.

just looking up random scores...

Custom Robo for the Gamecube (65)

I stuck to the single-player (there was multiplayer right?) and despite the dumb story it managed to keep my attention until I beat the game. It's a lot of fun messing with all the different weapons and stuff

Lowest I can think of is probably marvel heroes, which had a metacritic of like 55 on release, which it completely deserved at the time. Game was flat out unfinished and had horrible monetization strategies.

Fun game now, though.

Nier (PS3) @ 68
Strike Suit Zero (PC) @ 66
The Last Remnant (PC) @ 66
Divekick (PS3) @ 65
Drakengard 3 (PS3) @ 61
Deadly Premonition (PC) @ 59
