LTTP: Bayonetta

I'd rather fight Glorious and Gracious than those terrible dogs :(

Those stupid dogs likes to do the air bite, so I hate them, hate theeem, and you can't launch them until their armor comes off or something, I suck fighting them. It's like that stupid shark guy in viewtiful joe.

I could usually hang out in the air and stepping on those glorious and gracious with kilgore feet, and do the typical air combos, just need to avoid the uppercuts, but they're easily manageable and predictable and easy to stun

Actually any Wicked Weave uppercut will launch them, but they weigh too much to be juggled and they have an aerial recovery move besides. Dunno why you were even attempting to attack them from the air; they're pretty managable on solid ground.

Yea that's the problem

Well I don't fight them in the air until their armor comes off (they're usually almost dead by then, so probably doesn't matter), and it just limits the things I could do before that, since I'll be on the ground doing the normal combos and dodging fireballs, and wicked weaving it, they're not very fun to fight overall especially when there are two of them

Edit: the burning mobs is my second least favorite enemy to fight, I don't know how to deal with those without witch time

Ranged attacks only(this means the Whip too, though not its slaps) or the Durga's Fire form. After some attacks their flames will deplete(you can tell because they will be a darker shade of orange instead of the bright yellowish orange they are when on fire),and you can go after them with any weapon you want, but do it before they roar(that signifies that they've re-ignited themselves). Also try to get a hold of an Angel Weapon as soon as possible(or the Rodin if you have it); preferably the staff so you can do that pole dancing attack.

Yea I rarely use those :(

I think I need to learn how to use the angel weapons, they're usually so slow...

I got 1000/1000 in this game, not because of some sense of needing to get all the points, but because I just wanted to do everything this game had to offer. My personal favorite game to come out of this console generation and my second favorite action game of all time (behind Ninja Gaiden Black).

What makes this game so great besides the combat is the fact that it encourages you to do multiple playthroughs of it to unlock new weapons. So you never really ever play the game the same way each playthrough.. you find fun styles which suit each enemy.

Plus the Alfheim challenges are not only incredibly fun but they make you realize playing styles that never occured to you before. (The Whip + Flying Stingrays anyone?)

Don't jump around with the dogs. All their attacks telegraph really easily so dodging them is no big deal at all.

Fucking burning mobs though, especially on infinite climax where the fire durgas are way too goddamn slow.

Yeah, burning mobs pretty much means I need to shoot them with rockets or wicked weave them, I usually don't go into the menu to switch weapons and use the 2 sets I have on, but even with durga they're kind of not fun to fight.

You can jump on burning mobs and not have it hurt you I believe

Doing so with rockets equipped on feet does pretty decent damage to them. (you shoot rockets when jumping off of enemies)

That's pretty much what I do roll around cancelling the moves of my strings with dodge offset until I get to the wicked weaves and jumping on them with rocket feet

and then there's evil harvest rosary.

This is still my favorite video. It opened my foolish mind on all that I've been missing out on by only using like 5 combos to beat the game on Normal. Shame the guide is out of print and like $600.

I bought it for 15. :x

It's still sealed

On an action game binge after DMCHDC appears to be out of stock everywhere in the EU.

Was replaying DMC4 and NGB but I think I'll drop those for a Bayo playthrough - love this game.

Between this and the *other* Bayo thread, I'm jonesing to play this again (I admit it, I only made it through a single play through). Weirdly, it's cheaper via 360 Games on Demand than it is in stores or second hand.

It's not selling for that much. New ones complete for $100 on there. Sellers will list shit for whatever on amazon and just leave it there, since there are no listing charges.

I thought I was doing pretty well at the game until I got stuck. I switched it to easy mode to get past it and saw the combos that I was supposed to be pulling off :( It reminded me of DMC and I'm not very good at pulling off combos on there either.

Played through this game so many damn times...never even unlocked the last weapon though (not the one you get from completing 100 missions or whatever, the one from the secret boss battle)

now my 360 is dead and I can't play it anymore. Sold all my xbox games except for Bayonetta + Vanquish...eventually i'll get another 360 just to play it again...

This game just went over my head which is a shame because my excitement was over the moon when I heard Kamiya is making another frantic action game. One major thing it was missing that made me love the original DMC is that sense of attacks actually feeling like they are doing damage, each blow felt satisfying but in Bayo I didn't get that. There were a lot of moves just nothing compelling, it was trying too hard.

Hated the design atmoshere or lack there of. And the character? Do not like Bayonetta at all. But I can totally see why fans of the genre would enjoy it but as a fan of the genre I didn't.

The only thing I don't really like about Bayonetta is how hard it is find some of the APs without using a guide. I think a lot of people missed out on some of the best parts of the game.

I guess this is a good a thread as any. is it worth it to double dip and get the 360 version if you already have the PS3 one? are they that different post-install patch?

I borrowed the 360 version from a friend after spending many hours with the PS3 version, and I'd probably pay 15 bucks to own it if I had a 360. It runs almost twice as smooth, it's more vivid and crisp, and the loading is at least as fast as PS3 post-patch.

You can still get the Collector's one for 30€ over here <:
Link please? It's not listed for that much on UK Amazon, and I have no idea what the reputable merchants are.

Bah, I've made it a rule never to rely on Ebay for anything. Just personal prejudice after being burned too many times.
Wha....? Is this the same guide minus the LE content? I'd still like the hardcover in my hands though. It's like my white whale at this point.

The Futurepress guide is possibly the greatest game guide ever written. That doesn't even include the video links to pretty much everything it says.

I can't fathom how much play time had to go into writing it.

Bayonetta's a great game but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get some kind of fatigue when playing it. The game kind of runs out of steam at some point and devolves in to a gauntlet of the same mini-bosses over and over again until you reach that chapter's end boss.

Hell of an ending, though, but for spoiler purposes I won't go any further than that.
