LTTP: Binary Domain

Also played it recently. I actually liked BD more than Vanquish, a game that is heavily praised here. Plus it has online multiplayer and still has a lot of players.

Fun fact: If you have a USB headset with a mic, try playing with that. You can use your actual voice to give commands, and try giving random commands, like "I love you" or "F*** you". You'll be surprised with the A.I.'s answers...

Played it recently on PC. The core gameplay was fun, shooting off enemy's limbs never really got old, the characters were at least diverse and the bosses were nicely designed for the most part (and often hilarious to boot) the game had a lot of flaws.
Firstly, stopping the game after every encounter just to have a forced 'conversation' with one of your squadmates was incredibly tedious, especially when the correct response was almost always 'Sure' or 'Oh Yeah!'.
While every boss is fun to fight, several of these fights just seem to go on forever (e.g. the Gorilla, the Kaiser biker thing, Medusa) and as a result, the bad bosses seem to outnumber the good ones (e.g. Lasergoat, the Spider)
The story seemed to suffer a lack of direction; it flits from the serious issues, such as robots both looking like and thinking that they are human to fighting giant transforming robots and back to
a horrifically written spousal abuse subplot
and back to brofisting while taking down a dogbot.

Despite all this, the combat is still fun and sort of makes the game worthwhile to play but I can't say I can muster the motivation to ever play this again. There's just too crap getting in the way of the good things in the game. Also, the PC port is not good at all.

I generally don't like cover shooters, but I loved BD. Everything clicked and most importantly, the combat was very satisfying (that *ping* is still the best headshot sound ever).

The worst thing about the PC port is how all the interface stuff still shows the terrible keyboard commands when you're playing with a controller. It makes stuff less intuitive than it should be when there are on-screen pop ups, but otherwise the better performance makes it a much better experience than the console versions.

Posted in the other thread when this was free for plus, but I played the demo and thought it was whatever but played it during plus and loved it. The gunplay felt so good after leveling your gun up.

The multiple endings/final fights were a big surprise for me, had no idea the game had that system until I finished it.
Overall I really enjoyed it, still can't believe there's no co-op though, it's ridiculous.

Damn, I'm mad since I just got home and was ready to do a NG+ playthrough, but there isn't one! Disappointed, to say the least. Gotta take points from Grifandor for that shit, especially considering the weapon level up and trust systems. Ah, well. Still got the disc for it, so I'm deleting the PS+ version. Will come back to it eventually.

Didn't get the best ending, but I enjoyed it enough. Seconding the praise for the characters and plot. Nagoshi delivers again. (at least I assume he was involved, if not, GG Yakuza Team.)

One of the more underrated games this gen. It's worth finishing .

Probably one of the truest things anyone can say....

This game deserved A LOT more recognition.

Funnily enough, I just rebought on 360 for another playthrough. Prior, I had finished it on PS3.

I like BD, Infact until recently I'd played it more than Vanquish.

It's like SEGA looked at Gears of War and fixed most of the things I hated about it, IE much improved gamefeel, faster and better pacing and cut back on that oh so boring wack a mole gameplay. Plus the boss battles weren't ... shit, the bosses had health bars and parts flew off them so I knew I was doing damage.

My only real criticism is that the game is a tad easy and could have done with an extra difficulty level. It's a dumb shooter but bags of fun to play.

Just finished this an hour ago. Was part of Plus and I just happened to get around to playing it. I got the best ending with high trust. Pretty enjoyable Blade Runner-esque story except really goofy. Characters are all very likable and the shooting while tedious at times worked well enough. Like I didnt actively dislike it.

It's a weird ass game. Makes me want to give the Yakuza games a shot if theyre all as narratively goofy but well told. Though I think I would miss the great localisation.

I remember picking this up for cheap about a month after it released. Went into the store randomly out of the blue and BD was 50%, loved Vanquish (which I bought ignoring the reviews since the demo was awesome) and did not regret the purchase at all. Agree with everyone else regarding the spoiler tagged boss. Biggest problem for me was no visual feedback via health meter. Played the game on Hard and that boss was the worst part of the game for me.

The multi-choice was interesting and it would've been great to see how the last section of the game panned out based on other choices.
