LTTP: Halo 5

:/
Vs just needing a controller, besides we could do all that on 360 and had split screen.

So what sort of magical 360 version of the Game Genie did you have that let you play one copy of Halo online on two systems simultaneously while also granting someone else on another system full access to XBL Gold through your account while you played at the same time? Because unless you had that or some other sort of top secret solution you could not do that on the 360.

My son and I play online together on two different boxes at the same time using only my XBL Gold account and one copy of whichever game we are playing. I'll take that any day of the week over playing a gimped, split screen mode of any game. Glad they are adding it back in for those who like it, but no way in hell am I going back.

I started playing this again with the new XBX1X and loving it so far.
Pros: I'm digging the weapon variety. Level layout, driving sections.

Cons: Enemies, some are bullet sponges.
Squad AI. why bother having a squad if they do nothing. Lego Marvel thinks your squad is useless in a fight.
And to add fuel to it, the enemies seem to happily ignore them. So it just gets in the way.

I do love the character models, Luke Cage FTW!

Squad AI. why bother having a squad if they do nothing.

I found that they generally do what you tell them:

- Pick up that weapon
- Take that vehicle
- Go over to that area (in order to not get killed, or draw enemy fire, etc.)
- Attack this enemy

They're not great but they're only useless if you aren't giving them orders. And I found they were pretty good at healing you unless you got yourself in a hard to reach area or they were all dead. My biggest complaint with the squad system is that you couldn't give orders on a individual level. So for example, if there was a rocket launcher and a fuel rod cannon laying there, and I ordered them to pick up the launcher, and then the cannon, the same member would often drop the launcher to pick up the cannon. You can get around this by walking around to position a different member closer to the weapon (the closest will respond) but I ought to be able to select a member and then select an action if desired. Also, they won't pick up certain big weapons such as detached turrets, which is annoying.

Wow nothing but praise ITT, I'm really disappointed that nobody here remembers what Halo was, what it could have been, and the mess of a franchise it is today. 343i have not made a AAA game to this day, IMHO. Halo 5, is by far, the worst Halo game to date. I'm not even going to bother listing reasons, because you guys are all fan boys it appears.

Halo 4's campaign was great. Somewhat short, especially on Solo Legendary...got a little tedious towards the end, but some welcomed changes as far as pacing and cinematic effects.

Yes, nobody in here has been playing it since CE on the OG box. Please educate us on how Bungie created perfect experiences and how if they were still at the helm it would be the most popular game ever created. Enlighten us, o great oracle on everything that could have been.

Oh I'm definitely a fanboy of Halo. But I'm not sure how being fanboy of a game can be construed as a negative as opposed to being a fanboy of a console. I don't go around screaming that halo is the best and every other game is terrible. Although I do believe no other game has yet to match the feel of halo as console first person shooter.

Anyway, I loathed Halo Reach. I despised the campaign and tolerated the matchmaking. Not sure how anyone can say 5 is the worst when Reach introduced the abomination of all abominations in armor lock. My favorite campaigns in order would be CE>H4>H3>H2>Reach. I get that a lot of people did not enjoy prometheans in halo 4, but I still enjoyed a lot of the levels and encounters in 4. Some of that also may be a result of the pistol making a return from its terrible iterations in H2, H3, and Reach. Regarding H5, 343 tried to fix prometheans to a degree, but ultimately I hope 343 learned that most people just don't enjoy fighting prometheans. Keys to making Halo 6 better would be to go back to fighting primarily covenant forces, remove the AI team following you around, make human weapons and ammo more readily available throughout the levels, plus open up the level design a bit more , and I think H6 will be quite good.

The matchmaking in H5 on the other hand is a strong improvement from both Reach and Halo 4. The matchmaking alone prevents Halo 5 from being the worst in the series imo.

Yeah totally agree here. I felt like H4's campaign was a breath of fresh air after Reach.

I feel like Halo 5 is very mediocre in every aspect. It's enjoyable at times, but I can safely say this is the worst in the series.

Standard multiplayer is okay
Warzone is meh
Campaign is insulting awful

Forge and custom games are the best thing about Halo 5. It's the only reason i'll ever hop back on to it.

Halo 5 has the best matchmaking system to date with a few flaws: 1) Social playlists are mediocre: There are no "social slayer" or "social objective" playlists. 2) Let me vote on a map to play: The are a lot of horribly made maps in the game, so please let the public decide which one to play.

Quality Halo 5 multiplayer maps were limited in number. Honestly I think that led to a drop off in player numbers more than anything else. The game really needed 343 to pump out some new and varied maps and not just a retooling of a previous maps already in the game. I feel like the competitive scene in Halo 5, tournaments and what not, are still using the same 6 maps since the game released, at least it feels that way. And while forge is probably the best it's ever been, the maps never come around to matchmaking outside of temporary social playlist appearances. Pegasus was the only forge map in ranked playlists for well over a year, which is just sad.

Halo 5 has some vaguely enjoyable parts and they have added some cool content however in my opinion it is the worst Halo game.

The campaign is just so mediocre, the maps are so poor, and I still loath the 343 art style.

I just spent the past 20 minutes watching old Halo 2-Reach videos and I am just shaking my head. "Why the hell cant we have THIS again?" was my biggest thought during.

The gameplay and map diversity of Halo 2/3's Multiplayer is the peak of the franchise.
A combination of Halo 3 and Halo Reach's art styles would be great!

I personally enjoyed Halo 4 but I know that's probably a minority opinion.

I just really hope that 343 can learn from their mistakes and get back to continuing Bungie's Halo legacy instead of trying to recreate it into whatever it is they have as of this point.

I'm kinda depressed thinking about this. Halo is my all time favorite franchise and I just feel like it left me.
