EDIT: PLEASE NO SPOILERS WITHOUT SPOILER TAGS!! -Thanks!!
I had been working my way through Shenmue II, but I decided I needed a little bit of a break and something different. Next on my to finish list was Resident Evil 2.
Way back in the PS1 days, my best friend had a PS1, and Resident Evil 2. At the time I was stuck in Nintendo 64 land. This other world of CGI cut scenes and terrible dialog (most N64 games were text only and little to no voice work) was very new and exciting to me. I was a Nintendo boy through and through (I was 14 at the time it came out).
This same friend gave me a broken PS1 he had lying around. My parents paid the $60 to send in and get it fixed. The 14 day wait to get it back was like torture.
When it did arrive the first thing I put in was RE2. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen (besides LoZ: OoT). I eventually got stuck and moved on to my friends other games.
Now, I have tried to replay it again, but I would only get 2-5 hours in before getting stuck or giving up. Today it is crappy and dark out, so I decided this would be the right time to start my playthrough.
So far I am just about an hour it. It is pretty amazing how much I remember, especially in terms of the layout. I guest that is what happens when you get stuck roaming around for 3-4 hours looking for a key or some pendant.
As I mention in the title, I am playing this on the Dreamcast (as it is the only version I own now). While the WiiU looks cool and all, the DC is giving me vital data on my controller already thanks to the VMU.
It is really quite helpful to not have to go into the inventory screen to see the ammo left in my gun and my current health status.
Visually, through the VGA cable on the DC, RE2 still looks pretty good:
And do the Japanese think all Americans belong to the NRA?
Alright, back to it, wish me luck.
