Socom 4 led the charge for Sony's PS Move (at the period of time, Sony was battling Nintendo's Wii motion controls)
This game is absolutely horrific. The motion controls didn't help but the non commitment to normal maps, this is just a sad situation, and clearly a cash grab.
1. Why didn't they canvas Socom 1-3/Confrontation lore,. If they do that I think it's a decent game. Every single area in this game is the same.
2. I don't understand the player movement, why is it so generic? Do they just think the player controls were meant for the motion gun? It's outrageous how the over the shoulder and zoom is so generic.
Confrontation didn't work out because of bugs, errors, server issues and it took a long time for the fixes and by than gamers moved on to games like Killzone 2, gears of war 2, uncharted 2, resistance 2, metal gear online 2, call of duty world at war, halo reach etc.
It's like Zipper didn't care for the normal, DualShock 3, third person shooter fan and had to prioritize this point and shooter/ time crisis/ arcade shooter.
My next point is the story could have been epic! But clearly it's just about a rogue bad guy turning on his country for a suitcase of money.
I do like the missions with 45? (Asian lady) and even than I don't feel enthusiastic about those (unique circumstances, under night/stealth positions) those are the missions.
I'm done with this game, and it felt like a waste of time.
I can't imagine seriously playing this game at the time for rank.
Thoughts on this game? I don't think it's as bad as I write this up, it's a game for the time in a competitive shooter market but feels hopeless, this is Nintendo Wii 5+ years in and Sony now in 2011 is trying to grab a couple of those sales hoping the Socom name will get those sales, it's pretty interesting.
