LTTP: The Saboteur

When I first played this game, I hated it, nothing really clicked with me and I quit very early on in the game.

I decided some time later to give it a second chance and I'm so glad I did, because the more I play this game the more it grows on me.

This game has a fantastic atmosphere, I would even rank it in the top 5 this generation. The black and white with red is a brilliant touch. I love the contrast between liberated areas of Paris and non liberated areas, it really brings the city to life.

I also enjoy destroying different targets around the city, it most open world games they simply have collectables that mean nothing , however I love that in this game destroying all the targets actually has an effect on the city, namely you are less likely to trip an alarm.

I'm heading into the last act of the game and so far the missions have been fun and varied enough to carry my interests.

The problem is that game has a bit of a lack of polish, aiming feels a bit loose, driving can be stiff, and the animation and controls are not nearly as fluid as they should be, however this is not enough to deter from an otherwise great game.

Great game, love the city and the design. One of the few sandbox games I finished.

I loved this game, its premise, its ambientation and some of its mechanics, it was a shame EA didn't give enough time to its developers and killed the studio before completion. It's sad, but I'm glad they could at least let us play it, 'cause it was one of a kind.

Good game.

Man, I had a ton of fun with this game. Also, really great when you realize there are tanks hidden out in the country side. The huge one is south of the city somewhere I remember.

Only open world game that I collected every vehicle for. So worth it.

The piano version of Feeling Good being played is part of one of the greatest moments in video games for me.

Love this game.

Hmm I have an Origin code, but haven't redeemed it yet. What gamepaly I saw of it seemed interesting and the idea of liberating areas sounds interesting to me. How's the combat BTW? Mind pointing what options are availale to the player?

The PC version is a bit borked though. The map gets all misaligned at any resolution above 1280x. I also couldn't get the beta patch to install, anyone have any solutions to that?

It's basically WW2 AC with vehicles.

Pandemic was broken up as soon as the game was finished so that explains the lack of polish. Too bad.

I really enjoyed The Saboteur for the same reasons listed in the OP. I love the style and the atmosphere. The contrast between the bleak occupied zones and the colourful zones where the resistance is strong is really cool. One of my favourite games this generation.

Fun fact: My husband used to live in Paris, and he guided me up the Eiffel Tower because it's basically the same inside in-game as it is in the real world. Neat.

I was always interested in this game, one of the very few open world games that I missed.

I heard that by shutting down the servers however there was some content cut from the game, is that true?

Another question, can you fly?

Hmm I take it there are 'stealth' like missions? I like stealth in games.

Yep, you can wear soldier uniforms but you gotta avoid these the gestapo patrolling around. There is also stealth in the traditional sense.. you have to avoid them triggering the alarms though.

I guess you can't get the uncensor if the servers are down but there's no DLC or no other online conent iirc.

No flying.

Game has no real ending (feels like they ran out of time honestly) but getting there is pleasant enough if a bit repetitive.

Uncensor? Was something censored?

EDIT: was it about this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Saboteur#The_Midnight_Show
Is it not available for purchase anymore?
It's free on the Italian PSN. Not that it seems anything interesting...

No flying.

:(

Hmm, this is not good...

Had a great time with it. Sniping Nazis from the Eiffel Tower, sneaking around with the silenced SMG... and that ending, certainly stands out from the crowd. Even if it wasn't the most polished game, it had lots of content and variety. Very worthwhile purchase IMO.

The simple act of walking around disguised setting off the suspicion meter, and your fucking disguise falling off and disappearing if you're caught? Get that shit outta here.

The atmosphere of the game was alright though, if not a bit theme-parky

I can't tell you how relaxing it was driving around the French countryside scoping out bridges, taking out all guards and then blowing the damned things Bridge over the river Kwai style.
Such an underrated game, the climbing was fun too.

...however the glitches weren't. Something went wrong for me on the 2nd last mission and it wouldn't open. So I had to restart the whole game again. Sad.

Agreed, I thought controls were a bit clunky from what I remember.

I got it for free when EA accidentally the whole Origin. Whenever I find time to play a game in the near future, I'll probably check it out. It gets a fair amount of praise.

Don't forget to toggle on the titty mode lads

Look at what they took from us.

I jumped in when it dropped to $2.49 a few months ago when the previous low as $4.99. I want my $0.50 back, Gabe!

I was going to jump in now but it's already in my Steam family. 🤷‍♂️

This game is when I quit buying ati cards. My card couldn't play this game at all even though it was over the specs needed. They refused to make drivers to fix it. Bought nvidia ever since.

I actually hadn't played it before despite loving Mercenaries (not so much the sequel). It was a pretty good time, but kind of felt understandably limited due to the time period.

I never did play it back then. I couldn't get a new card. It's time I get around to it. I also bought a used copy of Mercenaries off eBay a few years ago.

Nightdive should bring this back somehow.

Such a unique action adventure game with the color mechanics. Pandemic were really onto something. Sucks they're gone 😕

Mercenaries and the sequel (though I didn't enjoy it nearly as much) too. World In Flames is the least easily accessible of the bunch.

I played it at the time, a good game, it was the last EA game i ever played, 10 years later when i downloaded it again, it wouldn't work on my PC or start, so i never bothered again
