Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star screens

Do want. Fuck the haters: Remakes are awesome, IMO. Gives me a chance to enjoy my favorite classics again, in a new way. Of course, I'm the kinda guy who latches on to very few games, and plays them a lot. Something I developed from only getting games twice a year as a kid, Christmas and Birthday.

I'm kinda the same, even with movies, I'd rather watch the same one ten times than a new one I don't know if I'll like. :lol

SSSC had no encounters on the map anyway, so it's not really much of a change.

That's not the point. Part of the enjoyment of being on the world map is actually being able to move openly on it Not move on it from point to point.

I am not completely writing off the game, but I hope they give some worthwhile additions in the remake, otherwise I'll just stick with my SSSC remake on the PS1.

I love remakes, but honestly when is enough enough? This game has been remade three times already, once on the Saturn, then the PSone, and the GBA.

I emailed Xseed asking if Lunar is the game they will be bringing, and Ken said:

"Well, Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star definitely fits into that category of "classic PS1 remake," huh? Well, afraid I can't confirm or deny anything right now, but stay tuned as an official announcement will be made within a week or so."

:D

Oh snapples! The only game I've bought by Xseed was Shadow Hearts 3 which is in shrinkwrap still, how do their translations generally fare?

Well if its good for Maddens its good for rpgs. :D

Most of them are very good I think.

Retro Game Challenge, one of the latest games from them, had a GREAT localization IMO.

I'm a Lunar fanatic going back to the Sega CD original - but this looks really weird. The graphical style in general seems off to me. And did I see a point and click overworld map? :( Really? Lunar is about exploration and discovery etc etc or at least to me it always was (remembering back to the original sega cd lunar - huge overworld, empty mostly but i really liked it) and that seems to be, well, bad.

Lunar 3 please? please?!

As I've said before. If it turns out that this remake will be heading to the US. I'm getting a PSP. There are a few games I want on that system now, but Lunar will be the one making me finally buy it.

Looks okay to me and I've finished both Lunar games on the Sega CD. Still, imo, one of the best JRPGs ever made!

Wtf? A point and click overworld map? Now this really sucks.
Okay, that honestly does not bode well...

I looks pretty good.

I just don't see a reason to remake this game again though. I'd like to see the original Grandia remade though.

For those freakin' out about the point and click map, you guys do realize that the PSOne remake had already removed overworld battles, right? This is actually a much smaller streamlining than that was. The GBA remake also had a point and click map. It'll be fine. ;p

I only played the Sega CD versions, so I wasn't aware of that. Wow, that's a bummer.

No. Madden would be the yearly Final Fantasy 1 remakes. A game, one complete remakes and a few ports of that remake is hardly an extreme example.

There's nothing wrong with this game at all. The art direction is beautiful and fresh and a bit more refined this time around. The battles look just like I'd expect them to as well which is like every other Lunar game, Heroes on the right enemies on the left.

The added incentive for me is the lack of map exploration. I never walked after the White Dragon Wings were in play and I bet neither did anyone else. :P

Never played the GBA remake as I heard bad things about it.

And as for them removing battles on the overworld screen, doesn't matter, still prefer to be able to actually walk on the map.

Jesus titting christ, you guys pick the stupidest shit to complain about. The overworld map in Lunar was always linear and pointless anyways.

The graphics on the other hand. Blech.

I don't know how I missed this thread before.

- The screens look different but still look awesome so dowant.gif

- The world map being point and click causes a bit of a concern but I'll wait and see how it turns out.

- What are the "episodes" the devs are talking about in Solidsnakex's link (other than the one he linked to).

Like was said earlier, the map was already incredibly linear, so this could actually save a bit of time. SSS already removed random map encounters, so THAT'S not an issue.

I'll allow it.

I don't know, even if the overworld was linear I always like it when you at least can walk around on it, I really hate just selecting your next location. It just takes you out of the adventure a bit too much. The worst is when you have to select a location from a list ala Final Fantasy X, that alone almost destroyed the game for me.

I'm torn on this one.

On one hand I loved Lunar SSSC, and would gladly buy a graphicly enhanced remake.

However on the other hand if you remove all the voice acting, animated cutscenes and vocal songs found in SSSC then the game would lose most of the charm that drew me in.

I haven't played SSS in a long time, so if the world map doesn't have any random encounters, and this one is based on SSS, then I don't mind the map being the way it is now.

That's a really good point. Nostalgia is the only reason for my quadruple dipping, I'm not sure if I can handle non-Working Designs voice acting, even though I remember some of it being atrocious.

Yep, that was my philosophy.

actually I hope they leave the Japanese voices in, and just add removable subtitles that you can use or dispose of with the press of a button. Imo, there is no way that they can get a voice actor who can do Gahleon's voice the way WD did. But in Japanese it all sounds great anyway......

Nice, even tho I was gonna get it day 1 anyways, the extra episodes just made it even sweeter. Props to Gung Ho.

Don't really mind if the old dub doesn't return. Give me Japanese voice track + English subs and that will be good enough for me.

*shrug*

I dunno I liked the map in L:SSS it just lent to the epic sense of adventure even if there were no battles.

Stupid to you, not to others. I enjoyed the freedom to actually walk around on the world map, whether there were random encounters or not.

Um, what? They are taking out the VA and animated cut scenes? I agree, that was a lot of the charm of Lunar:SSSC for me. It was the first game I experienced voice acting in. The boat scene where Luna sings was great.

I'm in. It better be as good as I remember. So many people share my love so it should be a nice treat to go through this one again.

Vic are you picking this up? It would be nice to know if we can get excited abotu thsi title or not. I HATE JRPGs and am quite fond of this game...note to any developer please make it a bit harder like WD did the GBA version made me dislike the game.

this looks great, so glad i decided not to sell my psp. i wouldve been missing out on this explosion of awesome games that are comin out this yr.
