Looks really good. Hardy is not Gibson though, not even close.

I wonder if Miller can top The Road Warrior, which is essentially the bar for chase movies.

No one is Gibson, but I'm very happy about Hardy's casting and can't wait to see his take on the character.

So yes there were handing out passes for Wednesdays screening this morning. They've done that since Friday as far as I can tell so mayhap they might do it again Monday too?

Any gaffers going to try? It's the AMC 16 in Burbank and again, only 28 years and younger permitted.

What the fuck?

It's crazy that this thing had its principal photography done in 2012 and isn't releasing until 2015. Imagine not being able to talk about something on that scale for 3 years?

That's... insane

Why is it taking so long?

Miller finished principal photography in December of 2012, over budget and over schedule.

They had to do reshoots in November last year to finish it, and I guess Paramount wanted it for a big summer tentpole and it wasn't going to be ready for that this year.

FX work, 3D conversion and Miller still needed to shoot the bookends of the movie including the climax. WB originally put a end date on the principle photography, despite sets being built in Cape Town, because the film went over budget and schedule. The sets that were built were dismantled and transported to Sydney.

When Miller showed a rough cut of the movie to the execs at WB, who ironically were now different when Miller first started shooting, they agreed Miller needed to finish up the movie to make the end shine and gave him the time and money needed to do it last December and Miller knew all long it would happen. lol

So nothing was reshot, Miller just finished the film.

HOLY SHIT!

I had pretty much written this off after those hilarious images from a while back, but this looks incredible.

Car and destruction porn galore.

I need it now.

That was a fucking fantastic trailer.
I am a doubter no more.

Totally random, but anyone know what song they used in the beginning of the trailer?
It's Wild World by Cat Stevens, (at least the lyrics are, it sounds very different), no idea who sings it, but the music for that trailer (and the movie as a whole) is done by Junkie XL.

As an Aussie (and 9 year owner of a Ford XB Coupe), I don't think I can watch another V8 Interceptor get written off again.
Reboot or not, It's just too damn painfull:(

For anyone interested on where FURY ROAD stands in post:
  • Some FX work still being done.
  • 3D conversion.
  • Tom Hardy will be doing ADR soon.
  • Junkie XL is in Sydney until October working on the score and with Miller on the sound mix.

Also it looks like Sideshow might be producing some collectibles.

And fuck this..seeing how many movies have done this and in the end it's all a waste of money and a lot movies just look even more horrible with this and since there not making it with 3d camera's. No wonder i go less and less to the movie theater because the prices are insane these days. I only go in the morning to see it in 2d it's cheaper and less annoying people around me. And to clarify this who are reading this from the US. Movie theater in the netherlands is fucking expensive if i go normal like i said in 2d i pay €7,50 but 3d adds almost another layer on top of it. Nearly €15 euro's that's to mutch for me.

So you don't like 3D and are not willing to pay more for it?
That's fine, you've got the option to just watch the 2D version.
I on the other hand like to watch these big action movies in glorious IMAX in Rotterdam.
And I'm willing to pay more for it (that's not to say that 15 euro is pretty expensive for a movie).

If they give us the option to choose what version we want to watch, I really don't see why we would whine about it....

Not really prices have gone haywire ever since Avatar. And most of them don't give a choice to either watch 2d or 3d yes most of them do 2d in the morning but not all of them. Depends if the 3d is good. I saw the 2 hobbit films because well with 48fps it makes sense and it's good to follow also filmed in 3d that's different. I always watched movies in 2d why should i pay more these days? You do know people always have other priorities right? I have to pay bills and get food on the table. I remember when a ticket was almost 4 or 5 euro's. These prices have been inflating since. Why should i pay 15 euro's when i can watch if i can for 7 euro's?

3d conversions are the laziest things from hollywood, just chipping in the extra money and stall the movie for a year to release it, they did this with a lot of movies off course that didn't end well because it wasn't filmed in 3d at first.

Man.. I really hope we can a proper doc about all of this

Even shot-in-3D movies are just as lazy. I watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and it might as have been the 2D peresentation. Directors everywhere just don't care at all. Honestly, there have been exactly only three 3D movies I've seen that actually impacted the movie in a meaningful manner.: Avatar, Hugo and Gravity.

Are the original movies still worth watching for someone who has never seen them?

This trailer looked incredible.

Yes, The first and third movies are good. The second though is great and is considered a classic. Not to mention, It holds up really well today. I tend to favor the second instead of the other two. Although, The third movie did age well, I just didn't enjoy the second half of the film but last 20 or so minutes made it all worthwhile.

The first movie though didn't age well however, It is worth a watch just so you could witness how this was mindblowing back in 1980 especially on a budget of $650,000 (going by IDMB)

All in all though, I highly recommend it. Which reminds me, I can't wait for the game to release as well! Good time for MM fans.

Definitely. You might need to watch the first with subtitles on, since there are some very very strong Australian accents in that movie, but all three movies are great.

The first movie is a bit of an odd duck, but definitely watchable.

The second is a classic and one of the best action/adventure movies ever made.

The third is a mixed bag.

You're insane, that trailer is the opposite of a Michael Bay movie. Too many explosions, really?

I saw someone else make that comment. Am I crazy in that I see very little CGI in that trailer? Most of the stunts seem to me to be live action.

Live action people, to CGI landscapes and a hugely unrealistic tornado spewing lightning, with what looked to be CGI explosions all through the trailer.

CG landscapes? And most of those explosions looks practical to me. The only thing clearly CG in that trailer is the sandstorm/tornado sequence.

You're just making shit up now, and I'm not really sure why. Why do you have a bug up your butt about a trailer?

I just rewatched it and counted 5 explosions, the first of which doesn't happen until 1:45 into the trailer.

No bug up my butt.

I just don't see why a movie like this needs a CGI filled climax, which is what I'm sure that tornado part will be. This is a movie that could have been done with a indie movie budget and filmed 100% on location and no green screen.

I'm sick of CGI saturated movies, with huge CGI moments(I.e. tornado). They've lost all sense of "Ahhhh" & wonder.
