Magnum icecream - diabetes on a stick

What Magnum was launched in 2011 in the US??
I'm so sorry for you guys. White Magnums are one of the best things ever.

I used to love eating these when I was a kid. Whenever we were traveling around in some random country in the middle of nowhere and came across a place selling magnums, it was like finding a pot of gold. I'd rather eat ben and jerry's now that I live in the US but still, good memories.

Ok, now it's just getting ridiculous.
type 2 diabetes is generally caused by being overweight, unhealthy and over nutrition (like overdosing on sugar). It's equally disingenuous to say that it causes diabetes as it is to say that it doesn't. It's a factor. A large factor but it's not the direct cause. But, considering it COULD cause diabetes (a perfectly average person that eats too much sugar regularly is still at risk), I'd say that yes, eating excessive amounts of sugar can and therefore does cause diabetes type 2.

Pretty sure I saw a commercial for this for the first time in my life very recently. By the looks of it, this has been available all over the world(Euroland) for quite some time, except the US. Maybe they just started advertising is all.
Maybe they are rebranding it? Don't think a cream based product people put in their mouth called magnum would fly very well to certain people in the USA.

Nah its just good eats, the ice cream is tasty and the coating is good chocolate.
Sounds to me like a Haagendaz bar or Klondike, maybe better. I don't know. But I'm not sure why Magnum got pointed out by the OP. I assumed there was something to distinguish this particular kind of ice cream bar from the others.

Classic Magnum Bar

Total Carbohydrates 26.7g
Sugars 23.2g

Sorry, but you're wrong. That a fair amount of sugar, but nowhere near even a can of Coca-Cola.

It's disgenuous to say that sugar causes diabetes because the excessive consumption of all food causes diabetes. A person who consumes an excessive amount of plain bread is just as likely to develop diabetes as someone who consumes an excessive amount of ice cream.

pretty sure ice cream leads to diabetes much faster than bread

I bought a box of Double Chocolate recently. It's just a really good high quality ice cream bar.

Maybe I should batter and deep fry one. Then we can get this party started.

I already mentioned that point. However, excessive amount of ice cream can still cause diabetes. So, in other words saying sugar doesn't cause diabetes is a LIE while saying excessive sugar does cause diabetes isn't. So, while both sides of the fence are sorta disingenuous in their own way, one is far worse than the other. Sugar can and does cause diabetes, but so does other things. But that doesn't mean sugar doesn't cause diabetes.

these things are meant as a once in awhile treat, and their price reflects that

only had one once myself as they only recently started being sold here, and it was pretty good

The only similar thing l've had in the states was years ago at WDW Orlando, l think it was called a Disney Premium bar or something?

Dark chocolate magnums....mmmmm..... so good. I used to get these when I lived in the Caribbean, and I've seen them in Europe too. I hear they are making their way to the US, but I've only seen them in DC.

Question for continental Euro-gaf. (particularly Italy): How do you pronounce "magnum"? Like in Latin or English? I always pronounced it mahnyoom and no one corrected me, but I wasn't sure.

It's great, and they've been around for 22 years here. I remember spotting different varieties of the same icecream around Europe, as the company that makes them has local branches everywhere.

And they did shrink. I found a promo picture from the original and it was much wider but not quite as thick.

The basic idea is that it's supposed to be simple, high quality ingredients. Real vanilla icecream and solid, fairly dark chocolate. Then they started making all these variations and now Magnum is a family name for everyone vaguely similar icecream.

Damn, we never got a mint version.

Someone went to the Iowa State Fair. I don't know who would wait an hour in line for one, but some people were.

Never had a Magnum ice cream bar. Looks really good though.

You are supposed to just have one every once in a while. You know, moderation and all. Its like someone asking how can they drink Alcohol.

Fried butter... just looking at it makes me nauseous.

I first had a Magnum in Beijing. Delicious. Probably not as sweet as other versions, though, to suit the market.

I've wanted to try these for a while, and I bought a box of the Double Caramel ones this weekend. It was awesome & rich. I would not eat them all the time, but as a once in a while treat they're definitely delicious.

I want to have some but that shit is expensive. Skinny Cow sandwiches in bulk at Sam's is where it's at. 18 or so for $10 I think.

Or the Phish Food froyo version. Nomnomnom.
