Major Nelson addresses the Xbox One issues

I've read it all.

Good. Then you don't have to read this forum anymore. Seriously though, piracy has caused all kinds of issues. Halo 4 and GOW:Judgement were torrented well before their respective releases. How is MS, or any company, for that matter supposed to know a street date was broken and not an act of piracy? Like I said previously, this will most likely become moot, due to the fact that they will take a Steam-like approach and not allow the game to be played until the street date has passed.

Weird how Sony declined but there where some OS questions that that I wanted an answer too, but might be to early for things like file support

A lot of tippy toeing around stuff.

Didn't know you could put your 360 as an input into your Xbox One though, I wonder what you can do with that.

Did he say you could?
I'm pretty sure he dodged it and said you can plug your cable box/satelite into your xboxone.. He did not confirm or deny the part about the 360.

Da fuq? That's exactly the contrary. O_o

Dat dodging.

At least he clarified the "ban = no more games" as invalid. Tho, wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be true after all.

His exact quote was yours or your "family"'s games.
Referring to your Xbox family's shared game library.

Which kinda makes sense.

This all made me wonder and i went ahead and asked if i can use my Xbox One bought in Canada over in the Netherlands, since i travel between the two quite a bit. The only answer they had so far was;
We do not have specifics on how that will work yet, but they are both Live-supported regions for launch. ^LB

I don't really see it being a big deal, cause locking your console to your IP wouldn't be possible cause of dynamic ip's that change constantly. They could however lock it to the regions IP.. But i hope they don't.

what are you talking about? DUDE, TITANFALL. T-I-T-A-N-F-A-L-L. kinda exclusively on Xbox One, AT LEAST for the first 6 months.

You think Ea will push money into it and have to support a big server infrastructure for multiple years while they killed off their EA partners program i believe Respawn is part off.
Unless EA bought Respawn then they will probably release a ps4 version down the line.

Should he have said flat out I don't know because that's essentially what was said. And really, how could he?

Well, if he said something like, "We have a contingency plan where we'll allow games to play offline through an update before closing the servers", people will start asking, "Well why don't you just let us play offline in the first place?". They're stuck between a rock and a hard place on that question.

Why cant your disc be the fail safe? Our vision of our future is over here *points at clouds*..................it's flexible. By not letting you play. Right

Can you not use Skype to call for free or anything? I've used it to call it the past when feeling too lazy to reach for the phone

I don't like how he dodged the end of generation question, sounds like hes just saying that we're fucked

Sure you can, but i have to do something like this for EVERY game i buy? and Ever 24 hours maybe?

No thanks...

Then the Xbox team shouldn't be comprised of people who act like businessmen and have no place in this industry. Nintendo is made up of passionate gamers, same for Sony. Why isn't Microsoft?

I'm not really a fan of Mattrick, but he is the only game developer out of any of main speakers for the companys (Reggie and Tretton.) Phil Spencer and Ken Lobb know their stuff though. Check out this KI interview with Ken Lobb.

Game-sharing and "always being able to access my games anywhere" (which my house is the only place I'll need to access my games at and even if I take my system elsewhere I'll just take my games) are not worth giving up the consumer right to do what I want with my games and to play offline. Chances are that if I take my system elsewhere I won't be able to access my games anyway because it'll be at family member's house where the modem and/or router will not be easily accessible (such as in someone's office or bedroom) or doesn't have wifi.

So, how does having my games installed on my Xbox One make that a more "flexible" choice than just owning a disc to play them off exactly?

I have all of those tangible games in one place too. It's called a shelf.

Yep most probably they didn't have anyone to answer those questions at the time. Or a scheduling conflict. Sony has been very open about the hardware since February. I don't think MS on the other hand has even released a spec sheet
Indeed because they know they are out gunned spec wise

having access to my games anywhere is pretty neat actually, and being able to share my library
only problem is. i dont go anywhere...

Lol so we can hook up a 360 to a One. It's too bad they didn't put a HDMI-in into the new 360 model as well for passthrough. I never thought about how the Family Sharing would be reliant on an updated ping either. Definitely makes sense. I only thought of it as an anti-piracy thing.

So much spin.

His answer to the 24 hour online check-in as a benefit to the consumer is "keeping up to date with your library".

wat

If that's the reason, Microsoft should allow us to "opt-out" of the family sharing.
I have no desire for it.

What? Why would you believe crazy buttocks on a train over major nelson?

CBoaT is credible. Major Nelson is a paid shill. He is the XBox version of James Clapper, giving the "least untruthful" answer to questions.

Because you can share them digitally with up to 10 people for starters. Because this is all in the software now, MS is definitely going to keep updating and adding features to this over time. If you have a disc, you know what you'll be able to do with it until the end of this gen. For example, MS said that they're looking into adding digital loaning and digital renting. Being able to lend a friend without having to give him the disc, or being able to rent a game without having to go to Redbox would be awesome.

I was talking to my brother today who lives 2,000 miles away from me. We're both getting an Xbox because we can share our game library instantly with each other. That's not possible when the only flexibility you have is your shelf.

So basically if it uses the power of the cloud or is online in anyway you can not play your games if banned.

Now we know why the push power of the cloud. :-P

It is nice to hear a report that single player games won't be locked.

Those PS4 questions were all very specific. Scott was asked at least one of them and he admitted he didn't know the answer, so its possible that they just didn't have anyone know the answer to them

They never said anything about not being able to use the cloud if you're banned. Even some single player games will be using it eventually, so that won't make sense. All he said was that if you're banned for hacking or whatever, you won't be able to play multiplayer.
