Well after reading this Naruto chapter I can assure you Sasuke will come back more op than ever before that Naruto is going to have a hard time with him. And Madara right now will be wrecking face.

I missed this thread last week, what's the consensus of who the masked guy is?

Madara's brother was a suggestion thrown around. Dunno what the rest are.

It's gonna be a bit boring if Naruto fights Madara and then fights Sasuke later on. The two have the same fighting style and Naruto taking on both of them will get tiring.

"This is a bit too much" indeed Madara. I don't know why but this just infuriates me but yet some how I feel ashamed of myself for not expecting this.

I'll never understand it when people make really ugly, dumb, perverted, annoying, did I say ugly, obnoxious people as side-MCs.

They almost always get retconned into better-looking, better-personality-ing people because then suddenly the author wants to do something with them without them appearing as dislikable dumbshits. It was a bad choice to start with him the way he did and he's paying for it.

I doubt it'll be any different with this guy (he already looks noticeably better). Still I wish he'd have given him a bit of a lower-quality girl because that's such a waste.

At this point I don't really want him in any real fights. I'd much rather see someone else fight, like Minami.

Whoa. This manga is progressing very fast. They went directly into the space program and ignored doing any slice of life slow chapters. You can clearly tell the author is trying to add as much new information as possible.

Anyway so this Izumi girl seems to have the possibility of having the "ability". So I'm guessing Maho won't be the only one? They might be going for a team thing.

So where does that leave Fukami and Amachi? I wonder if any of them will have the "ability" later on assuming it's a team thing.

Sasuke from the future. He had one eye initially because he'd used his reality altering powers to travel back in time to give his past self the proper push.

i'm sticking with Tobi being Madara's brother based on the gloves alone (they both have the same gloves).

things have truly stopped making sense so why not run with wild guesses.

also, Kabuto is Naruto's Batman.

Love me some One Piece. This chapter was great. Can't wait until it's all over so I can read it in one go. That way I won't have to worry about pacing issues and all that.

Yeah, I think he was still pushin' his ideals once he was resurrected, wasn't he? It was because of Kankuro talking him down that he gave up(again, lol) and passed.

Also, there's Chiyo, who was brought back as an old woman. You'd think a lady's ideal form would be... Y'know...

IDK but it trips me up as well. Even this thread trips me up because some manga I've gotten used to the Japanese names. Stuff like Kimi ni Todoke changing from From Me to You would be a possible example.
 
Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru (caught up)

I'll just be frank, I think this is awesome. Those who like other popular sports manga like Ippo should be be into this fairly quickly (say ~v3 for first acceptance and ~v6 for confidently liking, and from there it gets a TON better). And it has tournaments. Lots and lots of tournaments.

But yeah it starts off pretty mediocre. I'm not sure if I said it but when I read the first 3 volumes I was saying how both Ippo and Holyland are way better. At this point I think Hawk/Sendo-era Ippo is way better, but that's as far as those two go. Where it's now, current-Ippo and Holyland aren't really up to it.

It's sort of similar to both Ippo and Holyland. Ippo in the general coherency of the manga (and some of the humor), and Holyland in the short-and-decisive style of fights (though that's pretty much what karate is) with quick splashes of brilliant tactics. Also some of the character archetypes are similar, but not too much.

When I say "short-and-decisive with splashes of brilliance" that's about he best description I can give it. Some of the fights are real rides to read because they're so damn complex due to being so short. Almost consistently, the final move in a fight gets me to smile. Good stuff.

Differences to those two include the MC graduating from being a bitch ass really fast. Unlike Ippo this guy fights out of anger more than any other reason (and unlike Ippo he doesn't charge up his fist for 2 minutes when he does).
In general I consider sports MCs to be sorta.. not that good (rather, every other character is way more likable than them). But I like this guy.

tl;dr (the new and commercialized bullet point version! specifically spoiler-proof!)
- Solid competitive martial arts manga
- Gets way better in the second half of what's translated
- Has similarities to Ippo and Holyland (the kinds that you... well, I, love Ippo and Holyland for)
- Fights are short, but specialize in awesome finishers

On another note now I realize why my caught up posts are so dang positive sometimes. I just don't write the negatives (which I do have eff wy ay!)!
But hell with it I'm not writing any. I guess I wanted an excuse for whoever's wary of my hyperbolism.

I was really surprised, by the way, that it'd have such solid tournaments because it's.. not that popular at all. But I'm betting that's because most of the really good volumes were translated in 2011.

Edit: Also, the genre says Seinen, but dunno it looked pretty shonen to me. It has some pixelated dicks, so I guess that's why.

. Anyway, them color pages, yum. Other then that, we basically got half a chapter of talking about Byakuya's weakness in shikai/bankai. OMG he is so in his head now! We also got a bit of Rukia comedy and she got transformed into a stuffed animal with that toy ray gun. Bonus points for the color pages.

Oh yeah that guy. I actually skipped his entire arc by mistake (was weird to see a unibrow suddenly but I wasn't paying too much attention to it) and didn't notice until I finished the volume. It minimized the losses.

Yeah I guess that would explain a lot.

I'm still weirded out by that damn arc.

He toned down a lot when the tournaments started... I wish people would not let that guy startle them.
 
One Piece

It was good seeing Usopp's development and Brook's new abilities. I'm glad Hody isn't getting some sappy flashback like some people were expecting. This is better, even though he's still a shitty villain.

This week, I found One Piece pretty interesting. The DF users of the Straw Hats receiving a powerful new accessory (Brookes weapon) and a new skill, Nico Robin's clones, definitely raised their appeal to me. I cant get enough of Nico Robin with the shades on. Hopefully Oda will continue to deliver the action in the plaza. I want to see more of the Straw Hats abilities.

Naruto
This chapter wasn't particularly bad nor good. It was just "okay". Like every other fucking chapter for a while now. I think I'm officially done with Naruto in the sense that I expect anything from it. I'll just follow it til the end for closure, and that's it.
 
I've been reading the Hunter x Hunter series over again (at 230) and boy, what a difference does a Tankoban make! The art is much better in the tanks. I haven't revisited this material since they were first in SJ so seeing actual art and straight lines instead of scribbles releaves me.

So that brings me to the current chapter... who the hell is Alluka? There's a picture in a recent chapter I just read of the assasin family and I don't remember his name being mentioned at all.

But if this Alluka is a nen eraser, he must be valuable and targeted. People like the Ryodan would want to kidnap him... although kidnapping a member of the Zoldylck family sounds like suicide.

The name hadn't been mentioned until recently, but we've known about a missing sibling since the introduction of the family (and you could deduce the name: Illumi -> Milluki -> Killua -> Alluka -> Kalluto).
 
I think its pretty obvious where Naruto is heading.

Naruto is going to use his talk no jitsu to convince Sasuke to help him defeat the bad guys.

But they'll fail. In a final tactic.

Naruto is going to change himself into a girl and have sex with Sasuke to make a perfect baby with both the Uchiha and Senju bloodline naturally becoming the reincarnation of The super sage. They Sasuke with use some time travelling techinique with his eye and bring a 15 year old version of the baby. The teen will have a sharigan on the tip of everyone of his hairs and have the power of all the tailed beast. He'll kill all the baddies by waving his hair.

Would Killua really believe in curses? He was really shocked to know something like nen exists. All he knew was the "pressure" Illumi and Hisoka gave off to him.

I guess he just sorta suspected it and then confirmed it right afterwards.. could be Milluki.

Considering he lives in a world where they definitely exist, I don't think that would be outrageous...
I mean, I would assume he knew something was up with Alluka, and had a fairly good idea as to what his brother was capable of, even if he didn't know the technicalities. And he would have connected the dots upon learning about the nen and jonen: "oh, so that's how it worked!"

That being said, I agree that the nen being such a well kept secret that even Killua had never heard about it is bothersome. It just seems really hard to believe.

Yea its alright and its just like Hellsing with the pretty crazy characters just not giving a fuck and Hirano's crazy art. Not surprising Dark Horse got it since the also did Hellsing and i assume it was really popular for them

What i love though is the play on certian Legendary figures
it has guys like Nobunaga Oda. Joan of Arc is not of an right mind and she his lead by a guy who could possibly be Jesus Christ himself

Confirmed that Partison isn't exactly what we see at face value and the President seems to always care about entertaining himself first.

Very interesting info on Killua's brother and the fact he's their the entire time. And its the third time we have seen a Nen Canceller being brought up in a short amount of time.
 
Naruto

I just read the chapter and I'm wondering, if Madara can use the shanringan abilities with his activated rinnegan (susano was there when he summoned the meteor) and Tobi is indeed from the Uchiha clan, then why didn't Tobi put another sharingan into his other eye socket and activated the rinnegan? Instead he has now a sharingan and a rinnegan, just like the summoned jinchuriki. Does that mean Tobi isn't an Uchiha after all?

I've been rereading it because of the anime and I'm currently up to Greed Island. York Shin was still pretty awesome, and reading Greed Island again is making me really want for a copy of the game to exist IRL (obviously without the whole "it's actually real" thing >.>).

As for the newest chapter, don't really know what to say *shrug*

Dunno what you consider "start" but they bid for the game and apply to Battera's test on around ~120 I think.

I remember 119 was the Pakunoda moment if that helps you. That's sort of the last chapter of York Shin.
