Finished. And I love it I am weak against the whole 'love conquers the impossible' theme like this. At least the end is not as.... sad, as Elfen Lied... which I loved as well.
What an enjoyable ride.
Any other "love conquers all" mangas out there that you guys can recommend?

Worst part is that it is always something stupid like a friggin box. I mean, at least move a couch or a refrigerator.

And also, don't forget that no matter how good the best girls are, 99.9% of the time the main guy will be better. Because you know, what a strong woman actually wants is a stronger man to take her home and have as his wife and stuff, right?
In the rare instance the girl is stronger, the guy then becomes her savior using other means; usually a shield or using special abilities. It is actually refreshing to see a pair fight together properly. That's a part I like about Unbreakable Machine Doll.

... I haven't read Claymore, but in the case of Freezing, um, I don't think using Im Dal Young manga for examples of female empowerment is exactly a good idea...
I admitted it wasn't a great example but at the time I couldn't think of anything else. I mean I could mention a ton of shoujo series but a lot of those sort of fit easily. Though actually a ton of shoujo and especailly josei go for the dominant male. So it isn't an overwhelming siding to the females, even despite the vast majority of the authors being that sex.
My Claymore example is a good one. Since you didn't like the Freezing one, which I admitted before is understandable, then I'd say Unbreakable Machine Doll is a good example. The female is
not human
but still is not used for fan-service. She is also powerful enough
to stop a train with her hands
. In the latest chapter the MC was actually
being carried by her on her back
.
I have more examples of empowered females but they always pretty much have fan-service. I mean Lucifer BH has to have panty shots along with the young girl kicking ass so I can't really mention it wholeheartedly.

I know I said it already, but I just don't agree that this is a problem at all.
That's the thing really. Normally when we say stereotypes we are referring to myopic views of IRL people. Like a spoiled rich girl or dumb muscle bound idiot. But these are now media stereotypes which have even evolved past signs of reality. It is really weird if you think about it. Not all series are like this but are you serious with stuff like derp town? Or the craziness of the love story in Bakuman? That shit is on its own level of bat-shit.

Cousin, childhood friend, sister, there's always some excuse like that for it, sure. I just wouldn't say cousin in specific is particularly common compared to others...
Why not just let them stay where they are? I was fine with the dynamic of them
staying within her
and Teruharu seeing them then getting emotional. I don't see why it was necessary to make
clone babies of those personalities.
It didn't make the ending better. But I guess it did provide some relation to the story and showing
normal kids
would not be as impacting. I just think it is stupid unless there is some magic stuff going on.

I am not at all defending Umi no Misaki, but aren't manga protagonists often completely boring? I don't quite get why the Japanese audience obviously likes characters like that so much, I think...
Maybe they are just as boring as the MC? Or maybe for otaku the normalcy is to be desired? IDK, I'm stereotyping myself but it is tough to understand. I honestly never like many series with poor MCs. They are more important IMO then heroines. Spike from Bebop, Kazuma from Kaze no Stigma, Usui from Karin, Chrno from C.Crusade, etc...
They are usually boring yes, but Nagi makes most MCs interesting like a great work of art. He is absolutely dull beyond belief. You might as well replace him with a mannequin.
Fake edit:
Until Death Do Us Part has some ass kicking females who are not just for fan-service. Though some are sexualized but I don't find that too bad at all.
I'm not sure what that whole anime girl voting thing was about, but when it was posted in this thread earlier I voted for Chihiro just because everyone told me not to.

-Where do we go from here?
Football breaks manga reading led to a lot of reads these past two days. Go Niners.
One of those were the latest two chapters of DD. I'm not really sure how to think of these chapters though. We sort of are on the cusp of a new story leading towards the revelation of the antagonist backer. I'm sure there will also be hacking duels. There was a bit of emphasis on the romance but only what we are used to, except for the date invite. So really there was just the corporation fall, antagonist meeting, talk of the backer, and then a side-story around the date. It wasn't terribly interesting.
I haven't seen a translation this bad since ever. It's hilarious and completely unintelligible in every way. I always wonder why scanners don't just proofread and make things into English - in this case, you couldn't proofread it no matter what you did because the babelfish translation isn't intelligible enough to know what the characters are attempting to say.

-What am I reading?
Did I just read a chapter of Bakuman that wasn't rank shit? There was a character exhibiting emotion without shouting like a moron(though they did start that shouting crap again at the end). Seriously though, derailing my own post, what is it with the shouting? I think every chapter somebody is just screaming their head off on the phone or in person. I get that some of it is gag comedy but even normal conversations end up in screaming matches.
Any logical person would of picked the girl with assets(x fat girl) over the girl who droped him for some other dude.
funny how what all the girls have in common is that they've all tryed to rape him at some point some mutiple times, the guy should really think about getting a rape alarm.
I don't know, maybe? Although I think it would be switched up by now if they had another poll. Haqua just got ordained as the savior of the world. Elsie appeared in like three pages in the last year.

-Very refreshing
So Kouta has decided not to use magic anymore and follow his own path. Wait, why do I sound like a melodramatic blogger? Anyway, for most of the chapter we just follow Kouta and how Akino is avoiding him. The entire school is also cross-dressing for the festival. So Sasara still gets magic involved which leads to Akino saving Kouta from a pack of guys chasing him. Then she basically asks him to kiss her.
Is magic afoot or this is legit? That's the basic idea. Not nearly as good as last chapter but still enjoyable with that refreshing tone this series carries. Sasara is also adorable like always.
