Manhunt and Bully PS2 Classics stealth released on EU PSN [PS4]

I just bought Bully. Last time I've played it in 2006. Best rockstar game imo, let's hope this is a good port.

Edit: this game looks better than I expected/ remembered. Nice.

Edit: Yeah this definitely is one of my favorite games of all time. Everything is just amazing...and the music....

So how much of an upgrade is this really over the PS2 original or the PS2 classics on PS3, visually ?

What it says in the store -

"Experience Canis Canem Edit for PS2 with full 1080p up-rendering and enhanced features such as Trophies, Share Play, Remote Play, Activity Feeds amd Second Screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App.
This title has been converted from the original PS2 version to the PS4 system. Consequently. there may be times where the title plays differently from the PS2 Version, or where some features may not function properly"

Yeah, seems like 1080p and enhanced features. This game still looks good though. I think there are frame drops but I'm not entirely sure.

Expect something like this:

It's a significant visual upgrade, because the untouched PS2 resolution and IQ look nasty on any HD TV or monitor. I really dig how clean Vice City looks on PS4 and I bet Bully isn't an exception.

I've been meaning to finally play through all of Bully. Got about 1/3 of the way through when it was released.

Wondering if I should play my Wii version or if this PS4 download would be a bit of an upgrade?

Hopefully, Manhunt retains the headset functionality that it had on the PS2. Having Brian Cox taunt you directly into your ear really elevates the entire game, which I thought was an otherwise serviceable stealth title.

More games should have done this.

I think the only other game that made good use of a headset for immersion purposes was the Splinter Cell multiplayer, where a spy could taunt a merc while he's holding him.

You actually can do this in MGS4 as well, using a bluetooth headset during the campaign funnels all codec conversations through the earpiece. Awesome stuff.

Wait so if you own the PS3 PS2 version of Bully, you don't get this for free or at least some sort of discount?

Isn't this what Nintendo gets all sorts of shit from people for?

Bully on PS3 is currently £2.99, whereas they're asking £11.99 for this

Nope, you'll have to buy it again at whatever price they list it as.

That's the question I was going to ask but I guess I already knew the answer. I already own two versions of Manhunt and I've yet to actually play it. Am I going to go for three?

Is this just an accepted known issue? I feel like Nintendo, especially recently with the SNES games on 3DS, get this bad reputation of being backwards and not understanding the digital age etc, yet Sony seem to be doing the same thing quietly across platforms if this is the case

You missed the thread of the initial ps2 releases. People were pissed and rightfully so.

Ah, Bully.

How many times do I have to buy this game and only play a little bit of it before something happens and I can't play it again?

Answer: All the times.

Just bought it on US PSN, and I'll download it later. When I played it on PS2, I didn't get terribly far (maybe 10 hours or so into it), but I loved it. I can't actually remember why I stopped playing it.

Then I bought it on PS3 when my BC PS3's disc drive died, and I played a little bit of it, but never caught up to where I was at on the PS2 version. Eventually, I got sidetracked by other things/games maybe.

This time, though. This time I'm going to beat this fucking game! I loved everything about it. I've never been to boarding school, but it did remind me of the private school I went to for a short spell. It had this authenticity to it, and Jimmy is such an asshat protagonist. I love it.

I also own Manhunt on PS2, but couldn't stomach some of the extreme violence at the time. It felt too gritty and real back then, so I never got far in it (but it was during that era where I bought every game with the Rockstar logo on it, even Enemy of the State...sigh). The concept of Manhunt is intriguing and terrifying. I may give it another go. I still need to buy Okage (another game I own on PS2). I hate that my BC PS3's disc drive crapped out on me. So many PS2 games left unfinished that I hope get PS4 releases.

Give me FFXII already Square-Enix!!

EDIT: I may have to do a "Let's Play" stream of Bully on my Youtube channel. I've been wanting to get into streaming my gameplay sessions, but couldn't think of a game I wanted to do one for besides No Man's Sky when it releases. A Blind Playthrough of Bully could be a lot of fun...

Yeah, it's still banned.

Maybe it would be rated 18 if someone requested a re-rating, like it happened with Doom?
(Almost) impossible. They would have to go the whole legal way through courts and stuff because it's a §131 StGB title. You can't get those titles from this list that easy. Sadly.

EDIT:
Actually it would be possible to release it in Germany, because the "Inhaltsgleichheit" (same content) of the "Indizierung" doesn't apply to §131 StGB titles. Courts have to rule over every release of a title in question.

I used to love Manhunt. Then I replayed it last year and realised how garbage it was. Seeing the stealth kills is okay at first but the gimmick wears of fast. And that's all the game has going for it.

I guess Bully might be the first PS2 game I buy on PS4 when it comes to NA.

I should buy San Andreas on a cheap sale sometime too, though. Just to get a quick fix.

These are both games I had and adored on PS2, and even rebought on PC, but I can't bring myself to play either of them again. I don't know why.

Love Rockstar but fucking hell, can we get some games made by another developer in the classics for once?

I'm well aware how irrational this complaint is, I'm just pissed Ape Escape 3 and Viewtiful Joe are still yet to be given the treatment.

I feel like the only ones that care are Sony and Rockstar. Which is weird because i think these PS2 Games sell.

bully is one of those games that i really want to play in the winter when it's a snowstorm outside. it's been pretty mild lately so it wouldn't feel right. but maybe next year, such an awesome game.

Huh so bully has some pretty significant drops below 30fps in open areas. Doesn't seem like a huge deal, but surprising given I thought framerate was a priority for these PS2 classics. Be interested to see a DF analysis, and whether or not it gets any patches.

Looks fucking great though - i feel like the colors are much less washed out.

I had this problem with GTA 3 too whenever an explosion occurred, I think it's just the nature of the emulation sadly

I just noticed Manhunt now (I somehow missed this thread). Really tempted to pick it up. Really immersive horror stealth experience. Does anyone know if it has the weird bug that 360 BC has where you can only hear starkweather through a headset?

Never played Manhunt. Decided to give it a try. The most controversial thing for me is how fucking shit it is. Jesus Christ. What's with the damn controls?
