For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.

As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.

And now we know why they are adding 100 devs to try to rescue Marathon!

Going all in.

Not just ccu but top selling games, destiny 2 ranks higher in revenue.

I'm terms of pure numbers Sony execs are smarter than that. I think they are riding Bungie while canning. BP and other gaas for sake of saving face.

Other shut down things are small but funny how big purchase and big money pit Bungie and marathon keep going like nothing happened.

It looks bad if they can marathon as it would be soon after Concord so they need to to prove to the world the Bungie buy was good and they won't shut down two expensive gaas games in a row.

It's like a sports team with a piss poor player under big contract. The guy stinks and ruining the team but the coach and execs keep playing him some reason because it looks bad if they scratch him a couple games. But then some low salary player will get scratched, sent to minors, waived etc... no problem. No name players not doing well much easier to admit defeat he's not good and gas him.

Like the daily one in the New York Times, or do you have another in mind? I'm more of a Wordle guy myself, but the numbers game makes sense in the CCU thread.

For S2, I think it'll get a significant bump, but less than the launch peak numbers. I think 30k or so would be an easy target to hit. It would be due to the curious that wants to see if Bungie did enough to warrant a return or whether to keep the game in their rotation.

They'll quickly find out it didn't and it'll then continue the down trend just like at launch, but with even more significant percentage drops.
 
Had some good Cryo runs, did Vault 1 and 2 and also snuck up to Vault 6 after someone else had already opened it. They left so much loot behind!

But also got rushed two times at Cryo spawn (at the first section of the spawn, not even at the second section). I thought Bungie had fixed things so that people couldn't rush spawn anymore but I guess not…

Some of you guys give too much attention to Men in Boxes. He is an character, he is just joking and laughing behind the screen, he doesn't really care about what he says. Treat him as such and have serious talks with other people. When he talks you either ignore or joke and go on.

He's a troll, but not a malicious one. Kind of a friendly jester if you'd like.
I've had him on ignore for quite a while but I get why people might find interacting with him entertaining..... In some fucked up masochistic way.

Lets do it like this, winner chooses an avatar for the loser and a list of games for him to pick from and play along completion conditions (at least one having to be free).

Loser gets to choose between playing a game from the list (and posting proof of completing the conditions) or using the avatar for an year.

Nah. Bungie just killed D2 and couldn't even be bothered to "unvault" the raids or explorable zones at a bare minimum. I hate these fuckers for life. No matter how Marathon does, I will always be waiting in the shadows ready to hate.

Sony betting on the wrong horse despite the data right in front of them. Amazingly, D2 since late March is slightly trending up. Sony doesnt even need to spend money on any sales analysts. Just skim this board, purple board or any other site doing the data work for them.

Also, on console there's way more D2 console split than Marathon heavier on PC. So there's going to be a lot more D2 gamers in total still playing. They'd do better if they just milked D2 with some more big DLC packs, while working on D3 (which they should be though it sounds like they arent).
