Arkansas Given Permission to Talk to Calipari

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WHBQ FOX13 myfoxmemphis.com) -- University of Memphis officials have said that they have given the University of Arkansas permission to speak to Tiger head basketball coach John Calipari.

Arkansas fired Stan Heath last week after five seasons as the Razorbacks' basketball coach.

Heath's team made the NCAA tournament this year, but they lost in the first round to Southern California in the first round.

Arkansas made the NCAA tournament thanks to a late-season run, but that was not enough to save Heath's job. The Razorbacks lost 77-60 to Southern California in the first round.

Calipari just finished his seventh season in Memphis and led his team to back to back Elite Eight appearances the past two years. The Tigers also finished 33-4 the past two seasons.

Earlier this week, the University of Memphis and Calipari announced that they had reached an agreement in principal to a contract extension.

"I am pleased to announce that I have met with John and the two of us have reached an agreement that will keep him on as the Tigers' basketball coach for years to come,"R.C. Johnson, the school's athletoic director said in a written statement. "This is my way to say thank you to John for what he has been able to accomplish at the University of Memphis over the past seven years."

Oh yeah, so last night, I was over at my girls' place and didn't even bother checking my phone at all.

Yeah, missed a message from my bud seeing if I wanted to drive with him to ATL last night to watch the games today.....and yeah....he got tickets.

UCLA must not have watched the UF/Oregon game. You can't actually get near Florida players or its considered a personal bubble violation foul.

I dunno how people can complain about the refs being on Florida's side, have you seen how Noah's been treated?:P
 
Florida cant just keep trying to shoot around UCLA defense. The only way to beat them is to take it to them hard. The refs are calling ticky tack fouls. EXPLOIT that. Drive Drive Drive

We need Hodge in the game instead of Humphrey early on here, he's our other main driving threat alongside Brewer.

I'd say it is like watching two teams coached by Tubby Smith play each other, but if that were the case the 3s would be pouring in. No need to defend such a low percentage shot.
 
college rules are retarded. how can the other team call a timeout after a basket or have substitutions? that could totally kill a fast break after a made basket.
 
perhaps some of those calls will go the other way now and we can actually have a good game since i've only been waiting to watch this one all damn day.
 
If we didn't start every game this way, I'd be suprised. But hey, this has been the story of the tourney for us. Sloppy as all hell, but somehow we're still there. PEACE.
