Mario devs on Peach's love for Mario, Captain Toad, Level changes (Gameinformer)

Don't think constantly launching a destructive invasion of her kingdom so many times would warrant any impression.

He is just tsundere. Plus, he only wants her in a lot of games with no side destruction.

Maybe penetration testing his actually his job.

It sounds like Captain Toad 2 is coming!

If you think about it these guys are probably done with Mario Odyssey lol. They have to be working on something else or very close to it. I'm hoping they're making Captain Toad 2 next and also a new IP. It's their turn to make a new IP.

Okay, real talk here;

I hope Bowser gets laid in this game. You can't just compare Mario to Bowser;

This is all wack with not spice or passion, Bowser in the other hand;

Metal shoes, metal spikes, a shell full of spikes and a gentle heart. EDIT: I forgot to mention that his tuxedo is made of WHITE LEATHER. How cool is that?

Peach should notice him forever, he is a loving father, he has a badass theme for his castle and he has kidnapped her so many times bypassing Mushroom Kingdom security that she should be, at least, impressed.

I read the bolded part and all I could think was that Bowser's actions are just a constant barrage of "NOTICE ME, SEMPAI!" Which means Bowser's kidnapping penchant labels him as a total yandere.

Reading the interview and I am starting to expect that Donkey Kong will appear and kidnap Pauline and you'll have to rescue her from the top of the scaffolding. Or they'll go full-King Kong rip-off and have him scale the outside of that tall building.

My favorite thing about Sunshine is Peach's reaction to Bowser Jr. Not shock,not "I've never given birth to a turtle monster," just...Huh. You're my son? That's odd. Nice to meet you.

yeah, that wasn't the reaction of a woman who has never given birth to a beautiful turtle son

Toad: shit character
Captain Toad: awesome character

Way to make a boring character interesting, very cleverly done. Mario team just keeps making great design choices every single time.

Also, the way he reacted to the Captain Toad question makes me think we might see a port there. That was an A++ game, so I hope so for the sake of those who haven't played it.

If we look at past games, the actions and the attitude of Bowser are often more in tone with a tsundere;

He starts by kidnapping her in the first games to later try to marry her and stablish a relationship with her, his attitude is getting more warmer and close to Peach in each game but his actions are still rough. (Probably because he does what people expect him to do)

In this game he looks like he is going to try to get her by more soft and cool ways than just kidnapping her. We will see.

Bowser Jr. needs a mom.

I like how the different kingdom's change and that they're not just static settings for gameplay. But the big nugget in this interview is Captain Toad being pretty much announced/confirmed. I can't wait to see what Captain Toad is doing next.

Yea people always come for Toad and how bland he is, so it's fun whenever there's a specific Toad out there for people to like. (i.e. Toadette, Captain Toad, those Power Ranger esque Toads from Color Splash, etc.)

She was just playing along so as not to break a young kid's heart. We all know Peach is a virgin.

I took it to mean "Nobody has ruled out a Switch follow up using SMO's engine, and that project would be something I would love to do, but it isn't in development"

Bowser is to Mario lore what Biff is to Back to the Future. He's in love with peach, but its not recipricated.

Actually it would be funny if like back to the future Mario was constantly saving Peach just to try and set her up with the Mario universe's George Mcfly... Luigi.

I love Peach, Bowser and Mario. They have such a good chemistry. That Galaxy 1 ending was mindblowing. Amazingly realized characters. That said,

I'm really curious to see what the hell this wedding is about. It seems a bit... off. Trying not to be that guy, but I just can't see this being what Bowser actually wants? Like what the hell, why now

I though Inside actually raised more interesting questions about Mario and Peach's relationship than any Mario game has.

Super out of place spoilers for Inside:

Does Mario actually have agency in his own life? Is he psychically linked to Peach and forever on a path toward her? Is he nothing more than a never ending supply of disposable lives, a horde of avatars for a quasi-divine agency (the player) that Peach knows she can count on? Is Peach herself divine because the higher power is always acting through vessels to rescue her?

Mario and Peach is like borderline sociopathic territory, there is no romance.

I think Mario is somehow an outcast. A person who should always be treated with respect in the front... But in the back...

He is often described living in somewhere far from the society. When Peach reaches him it's always for something she needs to get done. There's a theory about Bowser being the actual hero, trying to get back the Kingdom for it's people and Mario being just a necessary and oblivious evil

I dunno man, I really need to replay the Mario rpgs because it's been too long with most of them, but Bowser going for that wedding play seems in line with his RPG characterization to me. And clearly the Mario RPGs are like, prime canon material.

Babies in the mario universe are delivered by stork.

He wants to unify the mushroom kingdom and his koopa army through diplomatic marriage...or he wants to summon the chaos heart again./s

Pauline is Mario's mom and I'll go down fighting before I believe otherwise (or the game says other wise).

All jokes aside I'm almost convinced this was their original intention when they made the first Mario Bros and before they decided to go easy on lore. Explains how he was a carpenter first and then suddenly in the sequel it's 2 plumbers. Something doesn't add up.

I really don't want to think about Peach and Bowser having a child together.

p5KehFz.gif
It's so weird to be an adult and realize the implications of a simple child level story. Bowsers goal is essentially to rape peach. Probably.

Honestly am a little disappointed that this is still the kind of story were getting. But the story is usually such a backdrop I can forgive it. Would be cool to continue the super Mario 3d world stuff and have a variety of characters playable.

I was curious about the hat and the hat mechanics. Mario has always had that iconic hat, but where did you first get the idea to make that part of the gameplay?
Koizumi: Well for starters with the joy-con itself, it seems like such a natural fit to use the joy-cons to throw something. And he already has a hat.

This is actually a question we asked Miyamoto a couple months ago, and we wanted to see what you guys thought. Does every Mario game contain the same Mario, or is it different versions of Mario? For example, there's different versions of Link in every Zelda game.
Koizumi: I think the easiest way to say it is Mario’s Mario.

I love Koizumi's answers to pretty much everything. After this and the AMA I think he might give my favorite answers in the industry.

This game is going to confirm whether their relationship is just as friends or something more.

Like really, game fucking escalates to Bowser trying to forcefully and legally marry Peach and has hire an evil wedding management.

If this game ends with Peach giving a peck on Mario cheek/bakes a cake and calls it a day, I truly believe that Mario and Peach will forever not be a thing.

Wait, peach and bowser are getting married in this game??? the dude that has kidnapped her time and time again?? am I missing something?

It's so weird.

Both Mario and Link have been eternally friendzoned.

They need to start chasing after other women.

It's not like Link ain't used to someone liking him but not receiving the same attention back, just ask Saria. But please, let's not perpetuate the "friendzone" thingy even as a joke - it serves for no good purpose at all.
