Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - overview trailer (JP)

In local wireless, LAN, and online, you can have up to 2 players per system. 4-player split screen is only possible if you are playing with just one system.

Local wireless allows up to 8 systems to be connected, but you can do up to 12 players if you have 2 players playing on some systems.

LAN and online allow up to 12 systems to be connected.
amazing. thanks!

For it to not be a majority Mario-focused series the balance has to be democratized way more than just a handful of tracks and characters.

What?

People are also disregarding that Smash and Mario Kart have completely different demographics. Mario Kart is a much more casual-focused franchise.

Doesn't matter in the slightest. You're not giving reasons why it would be bad. Everything you're saying basically comes down to "I don't want it" but there's zero logical reasoning as to why branching out to other Nintendo series would be bad.

Nintendo series all fit together well. Smash has proven this already. Not only that, but Mario Kart proved this with the MK8 DLC. It works fine. None of it feels weird or out of place.

In that first quote I'm saying that "Nintendo Kart" implies a balance in representation that is similar to Smash. So something like 10% Mario, 5% Zelda, 5% Pokemon, etc. Mario Kart 8 is like, 95% Mario right now, even with the DLC.

For a true Nintendo Kart series you need a lot more representation of other series. Otherwise you're just asking for more DLC.

And as for Smash proving the characters work together already, not really. Not for the type of game Mario Kart is. Smash is targeted at a slightly older audience. They beat the crap out of each other on various different worlds. In comparison, Mario Kart is almost an overly saccharine happy-go-lucky kind of aesthetic.

Claiming that Mario Kart 8 proved that other franchises work in Mario Kart is a little disingenuous when they only added a handful of characters and stages. A stage (and now character) based on Animal Crossing? Cool. Adding Link as a playable character? Cool, he's pretty much Nintendo's second biggest mascot. A free-for-all featuring a bunch of Nintendo's IPs? Not so convinced.

There is absolutely zero logic or truth behind that. And by your own admission, people ask for it all the time so clearly people do not just want the "Mario aesthetic" nor is it a "bad idea."

My dream game is to have the next MK be a "Super Smash Kart" of sorts. Racing through Hyrule and Animal Crossing and F-Zero were fresh and fun-as-hell experiences in the MK8 DLC.

I want the next one to have a Kirby track. A Splatoon track. I want a crazy Star Fox track and a Mega Man 2 track with Mega Man as a playable guest character. And you can bet your ass that if Nintendo were to announce that, people would lose their minds.

There is absolutely zero logic or truth behind that.

Did people "lose their minds" with the DLC ?

Yeah thanks very much for the walkthrough. Does multi-system require a copy of the game for each system or can you play from a single copy?

My only issue with "Nintendo Kart" is that Mario Kart is like, the last hold out for a lot of the Mario characters to be playable in. Mario sports titles have turned to crap recently. I like the extended Mario characters and if the series turned into Smash Bros they would get pushed aside.

Let Mario Kart be Mario Kart, please. I don't mind some cameo appearances like R.O.B, Link or the Inklings, but keep the company wide crossover stuff to Smash Bros., thank you.

There's still plenty of unique Mario universe characters to choose from, it's just Nintendo likes to be dumb for the sake of being dumb and put in stupid shit like Pink Gold Peach. There's still characters like Diddy, Dixie, Cranky (if Funky could be in MKWii, why not Cranky? lol), Nabbit, Pauline, Professor E. Gadd, and such.

Sure, let's add Gold fucking Mario of all things but ignore the main mode everyone cares about. I still can't believe there's not a single new racing track in a racing game. Battle Mode is trash and will always be trash.

Just another slap in the face.

Are you serious with this reasoning? rofl.

It seems non-Mario universe characters in Mario Kart are like 3rd party characters in Smash. Just a sprinkle.

Smash from inception was a Nintendo crossover game.

Have we seen an eshop (UK) price yet? Really want to go all digi with the Switch but £60 digi vs £40 amazon pre-order would be too hard to justify

Going to guess £49.99 based on the price the Nintendo Store sells it at since they usually sell at "RRP" and the eShop always matches that.

So what you're saying is Mario Kart 9 to feature Mario and Toads only.

I think ROB, Kirby and Captain Falcon would be nice additions, but beyond that, I don't really think the game needs more crossover characters.

Pac Man would be nice as well, but that's a whole different thing. He'd technically be a Mario Kart vet!

Trade in stuff at GAME and get eShop points cards to pay for it? That's what I usually do when buying stuff from the eShop.

Right, I wasn't clear. 1 lap was the entire course, 3 laps total, on the N64. On MK8 the course is split up, and you only race the entire course once.

The course felt overly long on MK64 but I absolutely love the MK8 version and the incredible music that I wish it was 3 laps again :(
At least as an option
