I can't stop lauGhingg omg hahaha.

Seems crazy to me that Nintendo would pretty much reveal absolutely everything about the game and give out review codes almost a month out.

So has Nintendo ever said how much It cost to make their games? Mario Kart 8 is impressive but I wonder how much has been put into it.

This is the first time a Miiverse community is opened well before the game is released, right? I hope they do this more often: letting journalists / Nintendo staff post pictures / random impressions on Miiverse builds hype. Maybe, 28 days before the release is a little too much, people could spoil way too much :lol

Amazon.de is offering a Steelbook Edition for MK8 (They exclusive to Amazon.de, but maybe they mean Amazon in general, idk)

Sorry if old

and MK8 is at the moment the highest listed game in the Amazon.de Bestseller list on the places 3 and 4

Yeah... a bit too early. Maybe two weeks before... but A MONTH!

I hate everyone who is currently able to play Mario Kart 8 right now. Everyone.

Yoshi's Valley battle mode:

I really don't understand why they didn't just make arenas. :(

EDIT: posted already. but still, why Nintendo, WHYYY. :(

That said, Yoshi's Valley looks amazing.

Battle mode looks really dull now, race around in mostly 1 level tracks occasionally coming upon another player ( not like that, get your minds out of the gutter) player and fire a shell at them. The variety in tactics seems to have gone unless I'm missing something.Thing is they got it right years ago, it should be gradually getting better but they keep finding new ways to make it worse in some way. 1 step forward 2 steps back. Thinking about it, even the step forward is a step back as its just bring back stuff from previous games. And relax

I mean, Smash has been doing stuff kinda like this for more than a year, so it's not completely unheard of.

Disney Infinity had it's community open like a month before release, and it was open to everyone.

They made Battle Mode into Wipeout HD Eliminator mode.
Can't say that I'm upset about the change, I was never a fan of traditional battle mode because the karts didn't feel designed for the quick stops and turns necessitated by arena maps.
I know a lot of people liked it, though. It's a shame they couldn't have redone a few classic levels as well.

What are the chances that there are still unrevealed things about the game that the reviewers are not allowed to talk about?

(Like what happened with SM3DL ?)

Battlemode looks pretty fun. The boomerang and piranhaplant items are going to be a fun addition. Id like to see a boomerang only match option.

GameXplain, please post a toad turnpike or sherbet land video.

Yes. If you could also please confirm the 4 controller thing, that would be dandy too! I hope you enjoy the game.

GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Classic Pro + Wii Remote, Wii Remote, and Wii Remote + Nunchuck are all supported.

What CC would you all rather see levels at? 50, 100, or 150CC? And would you want a full race or just a lap? We are limited to 20mins of footage uploads.

The thing that surprises me is that this is the first bowser castle without any twomps at all...unless I'm forgetting something from mario kart snes. That aside it looks amazing.

I love the new rainbow road too. Sure it's not all fancy but atlease light weights won't be bumped off almost instantly like in mario kart wii's rainbow road at the beginning. Also lol at their space progam name being a play on Nasa.

No. He's talking about whether 1 player is forced to use the GamePad in 4P local multiplayer ↓

I posted this on the other thread, but I think I should post it here as well; has it been confirmed if you can have 4 controllers at a time without one of them being a gamepad? It would suck if we couldn't do 4 players with Wii wheels or nunchuck combos.

Seems crazy to me that Nintendo would pretty much reveal absolutely everything about the game and give out review codes almost a month out.

They tend to give out reveal copies early apparently:

Nintendo has some quirks that other companies don't have, which may contribute to feelings of malaise or irritation among reporters or other people who have to deal with the company on a regular basis. For example, they tend to send out review copies super-early -- which is great! -- but they're saddled with long, complicated embargo sheets filled with ridiculous bullet points like "you can show video, but only up to 5 videos of 10 minutes each" or "please do not mention any stages after 5-1." That can be frustrating for reviewers.

Games likw SM3DW and DKCTR had sudden huge marketing blowouts 1-2 months before launch. That pre-release media showed off some of the best parts of those games which got people interested who otherwise weren't by previous trailers, even though I was concerned about spoiling myself.

I wasn't expecting them to reveal what seems like everything with MK8, but the game looks so good I can't resist watching everything (gives me a slight advantage learning track layouts early too :p). Though I think they could've picked some really good tracks/characters to release footage of instead of revealing them all. Maybe there's more hidden, who knows, with it out there now it could leak anytime.

All the recent MK8 blowouts have surely got more people's attention, so maybe it'll help them in the end.

Game looks so solid it's crazy. It's weird that Nintendo's games look this good. I gotta give it to them, they nailed the aesthetic with this game.

It's more that it's a month out. It used to be two weeks with Nintendo. That's when they'd usually start busting out the assets for a release. It was like clockwork.

Is this game getting a Limited Edition or Collector's Edition release in the States? I sure would like to buy one. Why should Europe get all the goodies? They don't even like Nintendo!

Yes. If you could also please confirm the 4 controller thing, that would be dandy too! I hope you enjoy the game.

Confirmed. The player on the GamePad simply has to hit the select (-) button and then press A on the Wiimote or controller of choice to use it in multiplayer. Just tested and had all 4players with a Wiimote.

I'd buy you a beer if you were here mate, you've made my day. :D

All right here's another question:

Can you access the online at all atm? At least just connecting to it.

If you can, is Balloon Battle available online? That's something that hasn't exactly been confirmed.

No problem. I'll double-check it to be 110% sure, but it seemed to work fine.

Battle Mode is available online for 12-players.

@NateDrake I'd like to know if it's possible to download the ghost of the world record holder in Time Trials, like in MKWii, and watch it with the regular camera (fixed behind the vehicle, i.e. no MKTV-like replays). Thanks!

are there any other game modes for BM...?
For battle mode, could you confirm the item options, as in, shells only, ect.? Thanks!

Haven't played yet, but only see balloon. Will post more once I play it.

I did one Time Trail and it only had one ghost which was a Nintendo account. Will have to see as one more people play.

That's amazing. How many teams can you have? Did MK7 have online battle mode? Completely makes up for arenas, almost. Gaf battle mode tourneys are going to be great.

Hmm, maybe Battle Mode won't be *soooo* bad with 12 players online. My biggest concern earlier was you'd spend the entire time trying to find other players to fight on the regular courses. It just looked boring in that first video on Gamexplain. I still would have preferred arenas, but... we'll see.
