Mario Kart 8 Info Thread

My ideal would be that Mario Kart should be a celebration of the Mario brand (and its tributaries/spin-offs) as a whole. By the time we've exhausted the likes of the Koopalings, Pauline, Captain Syrup, E. Gadd, K. Rool, Cranky Kong and the like, where else could we feasibly go but bring in the likes of the RPG characters eventually?

We haven't even gotten a single Wario related character yet though, in spite of getting Diddy and Funky from Donkey Kong Country...

I might be in the minority when saying this, but I wouldn't mind if Boom Boom, Pom Pom, Goombella, & Kammy Koopa we're added as playable characters in a future installment in the Mario Kart series, along with locations that reference several of the sub-series, such as a race track that is based off of one of the Mario Party boards.

And now that I think about it, will there be any future tournaments on the NeoGAF forums, once the game is released?

I'd be down for GAF tourney.

No that's unlikely. 8 characters are missing from the wii version and 4(5) from seven.

The games not being rushed either like 7.
When you consider the last console release of Mario Kart had 26 characters including the Mii outfits, it's likely that Nintendo would want to expand on that, since they're claiming that they want this to be the best Mario Kart to date.

Sorry if it was already commented, but there is any word on new single player content besides the typical eight cups and four categories? You know, bosses, challenges, track editor, all that stuff.

I think the fact the 8 Koopalings are in could hint to some sort of "Story Mode" where you have to challenge them and Bowser in different races, personally.

I still think it's inevitable. Whether they go for the Wario Land or the WarioWare sides, they'll likely start digging into one of them once they can really say they've gone through enough of the "main" Mario pantheon for these MK rosters. Ashley or Syrup would both be decent picks for a future game, whenever this may happen.

Story Mode, Mission Mode, or what-have-you...if they did anything to showcase that this game had plenty of mileage for SP, that'd be a plus. Gets tiresome doing the same 50/100/150CC and Time Trials.

They already have a car, so that's half the work done already!

What I really didn't like in mario kart wii was that I couln't play the GP (where we unlock stuff) 2 players splitscreen. Do we have any confirmation this will be possible again in mk8? I love unlocking stuff/winning grand prixs with friends.

And now the week will suddenly go very slowly...

lol that's exactly what I was thinking.
Why they didn't announce it this Saturday? or Sunday for that matter.
I highly doubt they'll show anything before Tuesday so we'll have to wait a full week =/

Well... They do have choice considering the amount of Karts there have been.

However, the courses would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. The new Tick Tock Clock is a work of art =0

All the retro tracks so far always have been rebuilt from the ground up.
They look nothing like their original counterpart. (Well, maybe except for MKDS which was basically a portable N64)
I don't see how 4 more nitro tracks and 4 retro ones would be such a huge task.

Also, someone should ask them why they deleted that tweet. Just in case :3

True! I guess the only rebuttal I can give is that with the Wii U, development is pretty different. Whether that difference would equate to motr difficulty, I wouldn't know for sure
