Mario Kart 8 Info Thread

*makes extremely vague predictions that are likely true and then takes credit*

Pachter is Belgian?

I wish Nintendo could Putin 64 levels instead of the measly 32, we are getting to a point where the each old installment of Mario Kart only has 1-2 levels in retro part :/

I met a girl who went by Iggy. When she introduced herself to me I said; "Oh like Iggy Koopa?", to which she replied; "Of course, who else?". It was then I realized I had a crush...

So.. it seems (according to this guy) that N64 Toad's Turpike is coming back...

It's probably fake tho. Nintendo would be all over him if he broke is NDA but who knows.

It's probably more that it's one of the easiest predictions to make. I made a chart a while back of the courses that have been included in Retro GP, and there's not a heck of a lot left for MK64. Yoshi Valley probably isn't happening because of the unique and awkward nature of the course, and we only just got a retro Rainbow Road for the first time in MK7 as the final-final course, and the one from MK64 does a pretty bad job at being the last track in the game.

This game looks so good..what are the odds Nintendo drops the premium Wii U to $199 by E3? (do they even sell the basic anymore?) I need this game in my life but really dont want to spend more than that for the console.

At this point I wouldn't be so sure. They brought back GBA MC instead of SNES MC 4 so anything can happen.
Is tuesday the day the embargo lifts or something? Sorry, haven't exactly been keeping up with all the info with regards to next week.
I read it is actually this Thursday.

You can always go refurbished, direct from Nintendo. That's about $200 for the Premium Nintendo Land bundle. People said the refurb consoles were like new.

That is the price they are selling refurbished ones for. Even if the game's release is coupled with an official price drop, which there is no reason to expect, it probably won't go below 250.

If I had to guess, id say they'll see what effect this game has on sales before touching the price. They may also do a wiiu + mario kart bundle at 300- I think mk wii got a bundle.

Ah I didnt even think of getting a refurb..if they are basically like new then yeah thats a good idea. That or possibly an MK bundle if it turns out to be a good deal.

I'm not saying it's a sure thing or anything, just that there's a limited pool to choose from for MK64 and Toad's Turnpike tends to be a fan favorite that would garner some attention on something as vapid as Twitter. I don't have any opinions on its inclusion one way or the other.

Enemy cars/trucks driving on walls? LOL

Hmm... I never thought of that, why the hell not? They could replace the underpass with an inverted overpass, you'd see traffic driving past upside down from the start finish line. It's an incredibly dull track apart from the traffic factor so they'd have to find some way of spicing it up.

Has there been anything more hinted at a track editor for mk8 since that obscure online store listing? That would really make me gasm...

Thanks for making that!

The MK64 tracks left for Retro courses are all cool, it'll be interesting to see which ones they pick. I'd like Royal Raceway and Yoshi's Valley to make it in, although Wario's Stadium could be cool too.

From Double Dash, Wario Colosseum was awesome but they seem to have moved away from tracks with variable amount of laps...

Or alternatively, get rid of 50cc and add 200cc lol.

I've wanted a special 250cc mode for a while (with limited/no items). Would essentially be a hard-type mode with a large speed increase and a focus on racing lines to satisfy the SMK (and maybe the f-zero) fans.

At this point there are way too many pieces of information for it to be vague. It's either 100% true or 100% invented. Here's what he added today:

Grand Prix mode is playable with up to 4 players https://twitter.com/PlaneteNintendo/status/450590448760135680
Moo Moo Meadows from Mario Kart Wii is back; it looks “much better” because it's set at another time of the day https://twitter.com/PlaneteNintendo/status/450557195223318528
Embargo for those who have been invited by Nintendo to test the new April demo of MK8 will be lifted on Thursday April 3rd morning
N64 Toad's Turnpike includes anti-gravity walls and a glider ramp somewhere https://twitter.com/PlaneteNintendo/status/450523411174137856

I won't believe this bullshit until GameXplain or Nintendo release new information.
Not that I dislike the info he has "provided" but I'm having a hard time believing it considering how strict Nintendo is with NDAs.

Heck, even GX deleted their tweet announcing they were going to talk about it this week mere minutes after posting it.
Why would Nintendo let this kid run free like a charmed ponny spreading "real" info?
meh..

Exactly this. This guy talks of an embargo, yet he proceeds to "reveal" things that Nintendo would be on him for like a strict parent. I just don't buy it. XD

4 instead of 5 makes me think this is fake =(

Really? If anything it adds credibility. There SHOULD be 5 players, there is absolutely no reason not to.

Which is exactly why it won't have it.

(Not saying that I think its real, but Im cynical about there being 5 player matches).

April 1st being tomorrow doesn't really help all this

His website looks legit and the oldest articles are from late 2008-early 2009 but there are not many… also in his latest tweets he contantly advertises for it with “stay tuned for more MK8 info on Thursday”. Maybe you guys could ask him some questions in English about unimportant MK8 information and see what he replies
