I looked that up and there's controversy around that usage but I guess it's a safer choice to use what you said if you are being all professional:P

I was actually making a play on Chomp Chomps(ok, no I wasn't).

Since you have used your logic to be that sure there will be that track, do you agree with GameXplain and their logic that the Bowser Castle track will be from Mario Kart 7???

I don't hate that course at all like some seemingly do here but I would rather it be a different Bowser's Castle(I like the DS one from the looks of it).

I would say that it will most likely be a Bowser's Castle track but I think the rule about the previous installment always having 4 tracks might not be a rule. In the past there just weren't as many games to choose from and considering what they had to choose from from before Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii they really didn't have a lot of choices.
 
Wario Colosseum is one of my favorite tracks in the series. I'm surprised it hasn't yet been chosen as a retro track.

The fact that it's a rather long track with some spiraling parts makes me feel that it's perfect for MK8.

I haven't played Double Dash in years, and I don't have a GC or Wii anymore so I kind of want as many DD tracks in MK8 as possible.
 
I couldn't care less about the missing retro track.
Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be amazing.

As for the final retro track, I'm sticking to either GCN Wario Colosseum/Bowser's Castle or Wii Bowser's Castle.
 
Question: I've heard people talk about MK7's tracks, but how do you guys think the game as a whole stacks up against the rest of the series?

I haven't played it yet, but I've considered buying it to hold me over until MK8. Problem is, I dunno if it's worth the price of admission.

I personally love it. Also 60 FPS racer with the 3D is pretty damn awesome. I'd say go for it.

It's a solid game. Very flawed, but solid.

It's pretty good, but it didn't hook me like several others in the series. If I were in your position, I'd just hold out for MK8, which looks to be far superior, and probably will be all the more impressive having not played MK7.

Go back and play Double Dash instead :P

I have never been as lukewarm with a Mario Kart game as I was with MK7.

It was really weird to just not give a shit, honestly. I think I beat every cup once and was done.

Of course, that's probably just because I'm not big into handheld MK, but I played Super Circuit and DS way more.

MK7 offered some great tracks and interesting additions. Likely worth it for the hardcore Mario Kart fanatic but in terms of being a holdover, we're only a little over a month away from MK8. I'd just wait.

I was initially very disappointed with MK7. It just felt so barebones with missing modes that were in previous MK games. Some of the tracks are really good, some so-so, and some I don't really care for at all. I can't really add any thoughts on the roster because I usually just end up using Yoshi 99% of the time anyways, lol. There's some decent customization at first glance, but several items appear to have the same stats, so it never feels like there's a difference in using one wheel or glider over another (at times). I don't really care for the unlocking system in place - collecting coins in the attempt to get a random part unlocked just isn't fun or satisfying.

On the other hand, I liked how the karts felt, and racing can be pretty dang fun. It's probably just my imagination, but MK7 has the worst blue shells, lol. I felt like the game knew JUST when to give the CPU a blue shell to take me out of first place close to the finish line on the final lap. It just happened way too often, and it's one of the few games that has caused me to rage quit multiple times. xD My mood varies wildly while playing MK7 - I go from "man, this is really fun" to "OMG WORST GAME EVER! *slams 3DS shut*". :P The game looks nice, though - and the 3D can be cool.

I would honestly just recommend waiting. It's not long until MK8 is out and MK8 takes a lot of cues from MK7. Might as well wait for the (likely) better version!
 
I almost want to say MK7 to MK8 is analogous with NSMB2 to NSMBU. The former is there to just fill some handheld gap before the latter comes out and ends up being far superior.

My choice is made, then.

Although I'll still likely buy it eventually. I consider myself a pretty big MK fanatic, having purchased and owned every installment from the original SNES game all the way up to Mario Kart Wii (including Super Circuit and DS as well).

I'd actually prefer a white premium if it existed, and the Wii U cradle/dock can be got on Amazon for £8, so there's my conundrum...

It is a Wii U + 3 Games + 2 Wiimotes for £40 less than a Wii U Premium Bundle

I'm not going digital with MK8 because...I'm just not really into digital for big games. Smaller downloads, sure.

Besides, on Amazon I'm getting this for a third of the price thanks to Amazon points. :D

Ok guys, I decided to speculate what the last retro track could be. These are the confirmed tracks:
Wii Moo Moo Meadows
GBA Mario Circuit
DS Cheep Cheep Beach
N64 Toad's Turnpike

GCN Dry Dry Desert
SNES Donut Plains 3
N64 Royal Raceway
3DS DK Jungle

(unknown retro track)
(N64 Yoshi Valley?)
(GCN Sherbet Land?)
3DS Music Park

DS Tick-Tock Clock
3DS Piranha Plant Slide
Wii Grumble Volcano
N64 Rainbow Road

1. Tracks that were alreasy used as retro cups will not come back. I’m taking down all the used ones.
2. In previous games, there is a limit of just one track per game in a single cup. So if we take that in the third cup there are going to be N64, GCN and 3DS representatives, we coulld figure that SNES, GBA, DS and Wii have a chance to get one more course in this game. The list narrows a lot here.
3. In previous Mario Kart games, there are just 1 retro course with an specific theme, what I mean here is that if there is an Ice retro course, there won’t be another ice retro course and so it goes for other themes like desert, bowser castle, rainbow road, etc (except Wii, which got two Mario Circuit tracks and 2 Bowser Castles, but they are very different from each other in design, for example 1 of the bowser castles [3,GBA] take place outside the castle while the other one [N64] takes place inside the castle and both are from different games). So we can get rid of the deserts, DK, volcanos, rainbow roads, ice and snow, cities, beaches, mario circuits, donut plains, valleys, raceways. As we can see, we haven’t gotten a Bowser Castle, ghost and lake stages.
4. If the track we are missing is from the third retro cup, then it is most likely a track with decent difficulty, as we know, cups have a progressive difficulty, though that trick won’t likely be the thoughest in the cup, so I’m taking down all the very easy and the most difficult tracks.
5. This doesn’t count much for this, but there are already 2 DS and Wii confirmed courses and 1 course for each GBA and SNES. GBA and SNES have been relegated since Wii with the poorest selection of tracks, while the more recent releases have had more tracks in next games.
Now comments on each probable track:
SNES:
Vanilla Lake 1: meh
Bowser Castle 3: meh
Ghost Valley 3: meh
Vanilla Lake 2: meh

GBA
Cheese Land: You might think this is a desert track, but it is just cheese. It has some mouses as hazards and turns are a bit though. Not convinced about it
Sunset Wilds: Ok, I said that deserts were out, but this one is very different. It is more a western desert (ala N64 train desert) so it is very different than the GCN desert we already have. Also it is a very nice track, with those Shy Guy houses there as hazards. Is a pretty cool stage, but still unlikely.
Ribbon Road: I feel like this is the most posible track from GBA. There are no tracks like this one in terms of artstyle and has a nice difficulty to it. Also there is one section that could have a flying section.
Lakeside Park: meh
Broken Pier: Has a grat difficulty and is a ghost track. It could work fine but I presonally dislike it.
Bowser Castle 4: This is the best Bowser Castle from GBA and hasn’t had a chance to shine. Now it is its chance, I feel that this is very posible too. I still don’t like it much (heh)

DS
Wario Stadium: This one is highly likely. There is no other Stadium type of track in the whole game (even including the original tracks) and it could be tweak a bit to have flying and gravity sections. I would be ok with this one
Bowser's Castle: This is another likely option. There are no Bowser Castles on the retro track side and this could fill that niche. It could be changed to have gravity, water and flying sections too. I’d not like it but it could work.

Wii
Toad's Factory: This is a perfect track for gravity, flying and even water if they want. It has a great difficulty and is varied enough. I’d be more than fine with this.
Wario's Gold Mine: Another great option for gravity, it even has a section that Works more or less that way. This one is crazy, I love it.
Daisy Circuit: This one could have a flying section but not much room for gravity. I don’t think it is going to be in
Bowser's Castle: Could have a water section and some gravity. It could be great with updated graphics. Personally, I didn’t like it much because it looked too similar to the GCN Bowser Castle but hey, it could be great if they change it enough for this game.

Ok that was a long and boring read. Now let’s consider something. Nintendo is going to reléase one more tráiler to show that missing tracks, which are 6 of them IIRC. We already know that GCN Sherbet Land, N64 Yoshi’s Valley, Rainbow Road and Bowser Castle should be there, so why would they show two Bowser Castle in the same trailer? They haven’t done anything like this in the MK 8 trailers so I don’t think a retro Bowser Castle is going to appear in the game unless it is completely different from the retro one.
So that’s it, I hope it wasn’t too hard to read this because english is not my first language and made some points that could have/couldn’t have been considered by the development team. What are your thoughts on this?

I got MK8 for $50 from newegg. Well, $53 because of tax, and I have to wait a 3-5 days due to free shipping, but I'm still saving $7-10 off retail or download.

The waiting for this game is going to hurt. ...Maybe I should cancel my pre-order......
