Mario Kart 8 Info Thread

An arena where you can battle on an open floor, and sealing, where shells fly up to the ceiling and down to the ground, while you can see players below and above you, would be pretty cool.
 
Menu and Pink Gold Peach on a bike are currently being formatted uploaded. Wanted to get them up earlier today but didn't have time to do them. Will be up within the hour.

I used to love playing skyscraper with that double speed bug xD when you have (I think) 3-4 players. It's been a long time so I can't recall exactly. Also block fort really is God tier. I haven't played much battle mode since n64 tbh

With stuff like the ending credits and specific videos popping up all over the place, is there still no information on what we can unlock? I can't believe that there is nothing left to get except parts..

It's a bit of a shame. There's nothing left to discover about this game at all aside from maybe a couple of parts we haven't seen. Gold parts for all three stars, maybe?
 
I haven't played Mario kart Wii (or only with a wheel somewhere). Does it handle well with a wiimote and nunchuck? I don't want to buy pro controllers for the select few times my wife is in for some multiplayer.

Most definitely - 'mote + 'chuck was my favoured control method.
 
Amazon.de reduced the price for the Steelbook Edition to 60€, but they seem to be out of stock as you can't pre-order it anymore ;__;
 
damn, I think I need to recheck all the online stores, I'm sure I ordered the game like four times...including at the GAME next to my house

They really didn't. That 60€ comes from their "More buying choices" segment, which in turn just lists their standard edition. So, actually, because it's sold out it now shows the price of the standard edition in its preview.

Edit: Yeah, well, I had to strike out that bullshit.

Amazon.de sent out an email to all those who preordered stating that you can switch to the steelbox variant at no additional cost. btw you are able to preorder at that price again and it is now number 1 in videogames, looks like it will have an impact.
 
I guess I got to preorder it in germany right now, cause I want that game day one.. limited edition doesnt do a thing to me so standard will be enoug. I still don't know which game i should choose as the free gift...

I just ordered the steelbook edition from amazon.de, it was in stock. I preordered the standard edition tho. I got an email with the option to upgrade.

I mean they could have put a timer on the unlockable stuff, so that it only shows up after the release, but that's really unlikely.. Or a day 1 free DLC for that kinda stuff?

Maybe they just really went all out. The fact, that reviewers got hand on the game this early and videos are popping up all over the place seem to indicate that Nintendo wants as much stuff floating around the game before release as possible.
 
Still havent figured out where i'm getting the game from.

I want the best preorder bonus and/or discount (even off another game, I still need DKCTF), but i'd also like it day 1, so the 'dell deal' won't work.

Does Toys R us still do their day-1 deals where you get a discount off another game? I remember they used to.

I'm so tempted by that steelbook. But I have already the Super Mario Kart from eshop and I would miss the promotion there. Plus midnight download. Tough call.
 
So I'm hoping to have a launch party at my place for this game the weekend of release. I plan to pick it up the day before. I want as level a playing field as possible so I wasn't planning on playing it before everyone else got there. If we play in multiplayer will we still unlock stuff at a normal rate or will I have to play on my own to unlock stuff ahead of time?

I believe you can unlock things in multi because there's multilayer GP this time.

I'm having a launch party as well! On the 31st.

Guys since I'm in a semi-blockout with this game. Does someone know if this song from MK 64 appears on MK8? I think I kinda heard it on the MK direct but if it appears on the actual game will be awesome because it's my favorite MK song. Thanks :)
