Coins increase top speed and acceleration.

You also get a (very slight) boost when picking them up, even at capacity.

Yes.

Though, the closer MS and Sony are getting to be gaming PC's, which they are, id rather build a computer. No paywalls, cheaper games, pretty much infinite BC, and the freedom to run many programs. Nintendo's console is the only one that feels like a home gaming console that we grew up on.

I would wager that it takes longer to find a room in the Wii version since... well, it's really old and the Wi-Fi servers are going down in a few weeks. I suspect most people have moved on.

In 7 I almost always find a room before I've even managed to pick my character. Which is actually really annoying because it puts you on a timer and you have to pick your kart really quickly.

7 is also very quick about jumping from race to race once you're in a group. It's quick enough that I can't effectively write or post things online in between rounds, in any case.

It wouldn't be accurate footage, since only the press has access to the game. How well it works when it's out in the wild and being accessed by thousands of people at once vs. a small selection of media outlets is going to be a much bigger concern.

They're also not going to record any footage of sitting in a lobby because they have a limited amount of time they can use for footage.

Big MK fan (or I guess, was!) but struggling to get hyped at all about this. It looks just like the Wii game but in HD. I wish they would do something new, change the art style up, maybe do a paper mario kart, and have paper somehow play into the gameplay.

I'm thinking the same. The character itself kinda feels bottom of the barrel, but in action there's enough sleekness and personality for me. Silent, serious, and deadly is kinda how I imagine her now, along with Metal Mario. It's like racing with Metal Sonic.
