Mario Kart 8 Info Thread

I remember when some people thought that this pic shows what MK8 was actually going to look like.

Edit: LMAO

Truth be told I would've been pretty satisfied if it had.

Rather glad EAD proved they cared more about visuals of their own franchise than Namco, though.

I've always wondered if the Mario Kart Arcade games looked better than Mario Kart 8.

I think now I can say that I prefer Mario Kart 8's look.

Arcade GP 1 and 2 actually ran on GC-level hardware, you can run them pretty accurately on the Wii.

GP DX is running on a more modern board and looks pretty nice, at least.

30fps doesn't seem like it's going to be a worry in 3/4P.

Personally, I am astounded at how they're still able to keep a good framerate. Considering the fact the game is basically rendering everything by triple or quadruple.

Sonic Racing was playable for me. I believe that would dip under 30fps many times, even in single player. So a rock solid 30fps is fine.

It'll just be your eyes seeing 60fps for so long, that it'll pop out to you more at 30.

edit: feel sorry for the guy, but its hard not to smile at them texts. Especially at yoshi's part.

The Mario Kart 8 Miiverse community currently limits us to only sharing images from MKTV. I'll test to see if I can post images from the game on my Miiverse feed tonight and then try the browser upload.

Ah, yeah, I was talking about the browser upload method anyway since that's the only way to get 720p images (from what I remember). Thanks for the info, and let me know how it goes.

This is funny
Not sure if new thread funny tho

This is killing me.

On another, kinda off-topic, Mario Kart note, I was wondering about the drifting in Mario Kart 64. What is the meaning of the V's and E's? Like why specifically the letters V and E. I was having a bit of discussion earlier and the people I was talking to thought it might have just been spelling out WEEEEE, but I know that the first letter is definitely a V, so that couldn't be the case. But I thought about it and wondered, maybe it was an attempt to spell out WEEEEE, but got lost in translation or something and the W became a V? I don't know. Any insight on why V and E were chosen to signify drifting?

I'm glad that everything in this game looks perfectly 3D.
No more 2D backgrounds, fences, trees, windows, doors in houses, etc.

I know the audience in all the tracks are 2D but they look so much better compared to MKW/MK7 I don't mind them.
Everything else seems to be modeled with actual polygons and not just flat textures.
Probably there are 2D stuff hiding here and there but overall, I'm glad they're not as shameless as MKW

EDIT: Wario wants some of that Pink Gold Peach.

Wario gonna pound Gold Peach for dem coins and drop his banana peel on her when he's done.

You're right! But there's something you see everywhere in the game that's been 2D for ages… maybe it'll finally become 3D in MK9?
