Tried this out at GS.
The demo has all the characters unlocked, some of the parts, and 8 tracks. It doesnt show stats when choosing driver/parts. I think its set to a lower CC, 50, 100 tops.
I played cloud top, mario circuit, airport, water park, and electrodome. The loud times were fine. All courses look great. The TV i was playing on had the sharpness cranked up, so that didnt help.
The game feels natural coming from 7. You'll easily be able to jump in and play. The limit to one item at a time makes the experience a lot less overwhelmingly, and more focused on the driving. I think i got hit with a blue shell once, out of 5 races, on a 2 lap limit. I didnt get a super horn or boomerang, but i did get a piranhaplant a couple times. Such an awesome item, and a joy to get every time. Getting coins after already having 10 does give you a tiny boost.
Everything flows nicely with the transitions from flying to going antigrav. Electrodome was great as it gave a rollercoaster like feel, whiping around the track. Bumping into players/objects is fun, and flows nicely.
I didnt care for motion controls. I immediately switched back to analog. Its fine for what it is, but you cant beat the precision of standard controls. The game does look really nice on the gamepad. Much better image quality than games like sonic racing.
The GS i was at said they didnt get any posters in, 'cause they don't have a rep. So i didnt end up preordering and that sucks for the employees. You should have that item in, if you advertise it.
