But why though? That makes no sense. He also says Mario's old death phrase in reverse. "Mia Mamma!" Pretty neat touch.

Actually, if the impending Smash Direct is any indication, Smash 4 may be farther along in development than we think. We already have what is likely to be more than half the roster. Put in a few more reveals & we could have a potential starting roster ready to go for the summer.
I've never actually thought about MK rosters like this before, but Kamek, a bunch of the Subcon dudes and the Sprixies, and Captain Syrup wouldn't feel out of place in these games at this point.
Kamek should get a spot, a lot of baddies already have one...
Some more subcon characters would be great. Shy Guy's Bazaar was a step in the right direction, I'm excited to see what they do next. DKC characters would be good too.I've never actually thought about MK rosters like this before, but Kamek, a bunch of the Subcon dudes and the Sprixies, and Captain Syrup wouldn't feel out of place in these games at this point.
Yeah, with this Smash direct, I have to think Smash will be soon-ish, like August maybe. Not November/December. Never know with Nintendo though.
Assuming Smash in the summer, there must be something unannounced for Q4 that's relatively big. Or that could be wishful thinking. Not sure what it'd even be. Animal Crossing U? Meh. So yeah, despite how "early" this Smash direct is, it'll probably be a November/December game after all.

Zelda U.
probably not
I always thought Kamek was a woman/witch.................
...But then DK replaced him. You'd think he would be a shoo-in given this roster's general focus so far (Bowser baddies) but apparently not. =\
Or hell, you'd think he would have made it into one of the later Mario Karts anyway but nope.
Curious thought. I still think Mario 3 did it better though, with the side-scrolling tank levels against a dark background. Felt really ominous and far less goofy than 3D World's.
What about the tank, navy, and air force levels from SMB3? And the other 3D World tank level?![]()
But Bayonetta 2 is coming this summer in Japan, which would indicate a Fall release in the West assuming it's sometime in August in Japan like W101 was last year.I'd love to see Smash sooner, but it still smells so much like something that they need for the Holidays, that I could see them holding off on it, barring they really do have something BIG in reserve that could take its place at that time frame. Summer should be reserved for titles like Bayonetta 2 and Zelda Musou. And unless Pokkén is meant to be their new big bomb drop, they're likely going to need a bit more than that.
Probably not, indeed. Assuming Aonuma's thing of having at least "one Zelda per year" rule is met with Zelda Musou, Zelda U should definitely be a 2015 type of thing.
I'm thinking Late June to August, definitely after E3. It's been in development for over 2 years, now, so it makes sense.Yeah, with this Smash direct, I have to think Smash will be soon-ish, like August maybe. Not November/December. Never know with Nintendo though.

Prob confusing him for Kammy Koopa from the Paper Mario series

I do have to wonder why the rosters don't just get completely insane with Mario-related characters. There's a lot out there.
I'm not saying Mario Kart has to become Mario All Stars Racing (or the Smash Bros. of Mario Kart games) but thinking about all of the offshoot Mario games (RPGs, sports games) and all the characters that have appeared before brings the realization that there are a lot of contenders for good racers. Heck, even characters from related series (e.g. the WarioWare or Wario Land games) would be interesting to see.
Of course, I won't complain about what we have. I just think back to games like Mario Baseball where you could play as Pianta, Monty Mole, Magikoopa (Kamek), Petey Piranha, and others and I envision how Mario Kart could be the same.
You made a claim and I refuted it. Don't try to insult me just because you can't back yourself up. Mario has been rampant with complaints by people wanting Mario to return to things that never were or the new games actually do.

Plus, X (if marketed properly) can be the big hit for the holidays alongside bundles for Smash & Mario Kart. And Smash being in the summer could be that one-two punch the Wii U could benefit from.
Wario's series also seem to be mostly ignored by the Mario spin offs, even though they use characters from Donkey Kong's games at times.

All I was thinking during that video what a huge challenge it must be for the MK8 team to make something cool of all those old tracks.
So these are the tracks we know so far...
NEW:
Klub Koopaling (as I'm calling it, don't think there's an official name yet)
[Rainbow Road?]
[Other, possibly snow/ice-themed]
RETRO:
Mario Circuit (SNES)
Bowser's Castle (likely GCN?)
Interested to see what the last three new tracks are going to be, there's certainly some spectacular potential for Mario Galaxy-esque shenanigans on the new Rainbow Road. Otherwise, the retro tracks are pretty hit-and-miss for me, with some absolute scorchers (Tick Tock Clock, Yoshi Valley, Toad's Turnpike) mixed in with some distinctly unexceptional tracks (Piranha Slide Park, DK Jungle, Sherbet Land).

Thwomp Ruins
Sweet Sweet Canyon

Moo Moo Meadows (Wii)
Cheep Cheep Beach (DS)

Dry Dry Desert (GCN)

Is there any footage proving this? I've only seen this name in that list on the first page which isn't officialKlub Koopaling is officially named Electrodrome. It's GBA Mario Circuit not SNES. About a retro Bowser Castle, it's not confirmed or even hinted at all. However, the new Rainbow Road is confirmed.
Made a wallpaper for all y'all <3

wow at the number of tracks. so how many will be in the final game?
That's not the quickest route. Go right and then left through the short bridge. The only issue with Yoshi Valley is the fact that there was only one route that was optimal and it was the one at the start when you take a left and go onto the really, really narrow path. The other routes are purposefully slower because the developers intended for you to play the course multiple times and get familiar with it -- it was meant to be confusing at first but once you figured out the right route that was the fastest, the course wasn't confusing anymore and the other routes lost their purpose.
That's something I hope changes in the remake. It was a novel idea at the time but doing it again that way would be ineffective. So hopefully if they take advantage of the multiple routes idea they'll make it so one route isn't better over the other or each route has their own trade-offs. Otherwise, it'll just run into the same design problem as the original.
Other than that, I love Yoshi Valley anyway.
I thought the concensus was the Retro Bowser Castle track would be based on either Bowser Castle 3 GBA or a SNES Bowser Castle
