Mark Cerny has 34 plats, why is he better at games than you?

I've gotten the platinum trophy for 100% of the games I own on PS4. Pretty sure Cerny hasn't. I only own Persona 5 and Bloodborne, but 2/2 is still 100%.

I'd love to 1v1 Cerny. I'm not into trophies much though, they are more often about grind than skill. Sometimes I like to create my own challenges, because a lot of games are too easy.

I'm way more casual (I only have one platinum - Spider-Man) but that's ok because Cerny has been gaming for way longer than I have, has no sex (based on his appearance) and gaming is part of his profession.

I bet one of his plats is My Name is Mayo.

I got a decent amount more than him.

I have maybe 2 platiums, trophies are just useless bullshit in my eyes, but I get it why some like to hunt them.

And it is good that game console engineer likes to play games, at least then he knows what he is doing and why, + what are the most important things to improve on next gen. Like SSD + audio on next, graphics cant be upgraded endlessly so it is time to upgrage other parts

I've got only 2 platinums myself. Resogun and Contrast.
Then resogun came out with an expansion that required multplayer for some trophies. Thats not fair. I am complain.

I have none, hunting down platinums stopped appealing me about six months after they released them on PS3. I'm one and done on most single player games and trying to nail everything just disrupts the flow of the game. I'm a bit if completionist and have to search every nook and cranny; and collect everything I can, but only on a single play through.

Trophies and gamer scores suck the fun out of it for me. I just ignore the feature entirely now.

I've been reading posts trying to come up with the answer to the question in the title... I can only say he's one of the very few people who is paid handsomely to devote his life to games. So he can have zero compunctions. Also I'm surprised he's not a blimp...

I find Trophies/Achievements a huge waste of time and not a measurement of any kind of skill. It's just busywork.

Do we know if they are even for challenging games besides Cuphead? Lots of people I have seen with lots buy lots of easy crappy games or games that have easy plats and go for those.

Not discounting the feat though regardless it is impressive. Personally, I like a challenge so I enjoy getting trophies/achievements especially rare or difficult ones.

Most platinum trophies (or generically speaking - requirements to "100% a game") are pointless and a complete waste of time anyway. Collect 100 of this, do that 500 times etc. I rather spend that time playing another game.

Never chased a platinum myself, but that's great to know. Although he's not a Sony employee, only a contractor.

TL;DR: No plats.
Haha... Same with me 0 platinum. Closest I got was in Hellblade, I missed one of the memory stones but didn't bother to play it again just to get that one and therefore the platinum.

Can't believe we made it to the second page before the trophies/achievements are a waste of time!!!! crowd showed up. Amazing restraint guys.

He's got some tough ones. Here's his profile:

Well ''better'!

I dont care about Platinums :) If I play a game and at the end Im close to a Platinum I will try to get it. I have no time to invest many hours to get one, you know real life.

i have one platinum from playing HZD. on easy mode, earned it in the first month after release...
(btw "easy mode" is not so easy when you have to do those time trails...)

The real questions are (provided this is true):

1. How can he have that much more time playing than the average dude while making 20 times more a year?
2. Is his job really that easy that he can have this much time to play and earn this much money?
3. Why is he wasting his time on something as lame (In my humble opinion) as videogame trophies/the achievements system?

Looks like he plays a smaller number of games but spends more time with them. Which is why his overall trophy score is low while his plat stat is high

I have a higher score than him even with only half the plats. I just have twice as many bronze as him, not sure if that makes me cool for playing more games or a loser for not playing until I get the plat.

Trophies/Achievements are the most normie casual shit ever

I only have one platinum, it was a game I got almost all of the achievements for by naturally enjoying the game, and since only one was left I thought 'fuck it, why not?' It was the most pointless and laborious trophy in the game though, which is kind of why I never chase them in the first place.

I have 36, but that's not bad with a full time job and family. Although he somehow found time to architect 3 PlayStations in the same time though, so he maybe he wins.

I think for something like Cuphead it is a measurement of skill since I know what he had to do to get it. For a Telltale game or walking simulator it means nothing.
