mark cerny sony steve jobs?

Err wow, let's not get carried away here. Cerny is definitely a valuable asset to Sony, but to equate him to Jobs is a stretch. Just compare how Jobs molded he technological world, and everyday life to well.. Almost everyone.

Comparing anyone to Steve Jobs is a stretch until they display the kind of insane skill and duplicate the kind of success Jobs did.

I didn't even like Jobs!

No, seeing as how he doesn't seem to take all the credit for everything dony is doing right with the ps4

He never had common sense to begin with.
Sounded like the PSX was a pretty smartly designed console, especially given that 3D was actually not the original goal (I guess they literally wanted to make their SNES CD-ROM at first), but then with the PS2 and especially PS3 he decided he had to be esoteric. PSP sounds fine from a tech standpoint though, albeit not controls.

I'd argue the PSX and PS2 speak otherwise.

Naw he killed it with ps1 and 2. He is still crazy doe

He should have joined Sony prior to the PS3, but I doubt they would have let him be its chief architect.

After seeing how much the PS2 sold, Sony thought Kutaragi could do no wrong.

Wouldn't Kaz be a better fit for being the Steve Jobs equivelant? I suppose only from a gaming perspective Cerny would be a good fit though. For the company as a whole, gotta be Kaz.

Does that mean the PS4S will be announced 5 months after the PS4 comes out?

I can't speak for Sony, but I'd hope my hardware lead wasn't a crackpot with impaired capacity for rational decision making.

I can't speak for Sony, but I'd hope my hardware lead could drive one third the success that Apple did.

Well, he kinda looks like Jobs when compared to the snake oil salesman Kutaragi. But that even that's stretching it.

Was Steve Jobs ever forced out from Apple for shitting the bed with an unprofitable hardware design? I don't remember that...

No, no... after the PS3 was trounced by the Wii, the goalposts were officially moved. Success no longer determines the greatness of a company or a console. Get your head on straight.

Mark Cerny

#gamechanger

They got a true gaming guy to develop and talk about the system and his voice and delivery was first class. I honestly believe he created pre orders for the PS4. His delivery of the announcement at the time was excellent even more so after we got Mattrick and his Tom Cruise arrogance and haircut with the Xbox one.
E3 will be a good show. Whether they ll let him speak again I don't know but it would be a shame if they didn't and used a corporate suit to . He mows what gamers want to know and was on point in February like I said now after this week we realise how good his speech was.

What?

The boner around here for PS4 is getting crazy.
What do you expect? When the hot girl you were thinking about fucking for so long turns out to be a total piece of shit human being, suddenly that one cute girl on your apartment floor who always gives you the googly eyes on the elevator suddenly starts to look like wife material.

Cerny's cool, but this is exactly the kind of unnecessary comparison that's going to make the internet hate him in about a year.

Well, he got forced out for the underwhelming although not terrible Mac initial performance and "crazy" ideas like a Unix-based workstation Mac (which ended up happening at some form at NeXT and one of the reasons Apple ended up buying NeXT, for their OS, lol) on top of attempting to force Sculley out with a coup.

Yeah, but he came back! Where's Krazy Ken again?

It's so sad fanboys feel a need to find a face they can worship to represent their company of choice. Nintendo fans use Miyamoto, so Sony fans have always felt they needed someone, too. (MS fans have been shit out of luck on that front, generally. lolz)

The idolization of Cerny is absolutely hilarious. I'd wager the vast majority of this board had no idea who Cerny was before February.

Now being compared to Jobs? LOL

Maybe they just pretend Peter Moore's still with the company?

And if I had a stronger memory on him I'd actually suspect J Allard would've been a more apt comparison, if he had just stuck to games only anyway. Both seem to have led a pragmatic-yet-powerful vision for their consoles.

Like, I'm as excited for the PS4 as the next guy (got it preordered and such) but holy shit, this is going overboard now.
Jobs was a visionary, Cerny is taking the safe and expected route in delivering an improvement and refinement of the traditional hardcore console. He is giving us exactly what we all know works, nothing more, nothing less.
