Marvel Comics tease comics super event Civil War II

Surely this is a joke. Are they gonna make Tony a massive asshole again?

Everybody was a massive A-hole in CW, Tony wasn't even king of the assholes which is weird because that's his standing title. That was Steve and his utter inability to even, you know, try and talk to Tony about it rather than "BLOW UP EVERYTHING".

He always been an asshole.

He wasn't that big of an asshole during Fractions run. He went out of his way to try and repair the character assassination by deleting his whole memory of the events lol

That whole things was a farce just like Avengers VS X-men

Logan stopped being interesting when they stopped trying to let him move forward. He and Scott are just stuck being the same exact characters doing the same exact thing forever which sucks.

Wish they'd just let Scott have his time and be the leader and not fuck with him.
Logan's rise to the "Xavier" position that was opposing Scott's "Magneto" never made sense. It should have been Storm vs. Scott. Instead Storm is regulated to second-fiddle next to Logan. Third-fiddle if you count Kitty Pryde, but then she bailed to take care of the X-babies, and then bailed again to go space-boning with Starlord.

It didn't help that Scott has been played up has the bad guy for the past however many years.
Yeah he been kind of spinning his wheels lately. Know who else should have taken it up? Adam X
You aren't wrong

It went against the core beliefs of BOTH their characters for stupid soap opera levels of melodrama. It was dumb, there's no way they'd have ever let it get that far if the writing and plot direction weren't pants on head retarded. Also that's right that was the "we have to sell Kitty Pryde" phase they like to go through every few years.

I hate events. I liked them when they happened once every five years, not twice a year. They've killed comics for me really.

See but the thing is, this event is awesome from the main book to the tie-ins. Some duds of course, but there's a lot of quality here.

But he didn't delete the past 40 years

I'll wait to hear the creative team before passing judgement... but "lazy" is the world that jumps to mind.

Glad to see Sam-Cap sticking around for another ~6 months, at least.

Marvel events have been duds for years. The trick is to follow good writer runs instead. Secret Wars might turn out okay though. Better than Infinity anyway.

Bet it'll be Bendis. Lol.

LIS the faulting in Marvel 616 for "shit what goes wrong on earth" is about 60% Tony, 35% Reed Richards, 2-3% Hank Pym and the last couple points are a mixture of rando space shit and Steve being wrong, maybe some X-men stuff thrown in there.

Bring it on

Eh Infinity was fine as an extension of Hickman's normal books. Definitely would rather see more of that than stuff like Axis that just gets in the fucking way of good stories.

I do still do that to get my fix. I read Hawkeye, Waid's DD, I try and get into Snyder's Batman on occasion but I just can't do it.

I'll read an individual run if it's good, but I never read events, I just hate them.

Sure, it was pretty organic in terms of tying into his Avengers stuff, but I still didn't like it much! I think the problem with events is that they really try too hard to shout about how EPIC and IMPORTANT they are in terms of heroics and impending doom. Doesn't do much for me, even with Hickman's meticulous plotting.

The last Civil War lead to Peter unmasking which then lead to Aunt May getting shot which in turn lead to One More Day where Peter makes a deal with the devil to erase his marriage to save Aunt May.

...I am not sure if I can handle another helping of Marvel shitting on Spider-Man, especially now that they are pairing Mary-Jane with urgh Tony Stark.

Tony Stark and MJ get a shotgun wedding. Jarvis gets shot at the reception and Mephisto being the super evil devil he is, asks them them to annul their 5 minute marriage, since it's not like he can do anything evil with the soul of a man with a hand in the largest corporation and a marriage is so much more devastating. Tony goes back to status quo of banging everyone.

Well Cap was a whuss from the start and then later he did what he hated about Stark during Civil War.. he wanted control and hunted other heroes who just wanted to save the world.

Steve Rogers is an idiot. Even during original Civil War, eventhough Stark's methods(especially his later methods) Stark was on the right side.. on the realistic side.

Tony stark was wrong about civil war from jump. His whole method was forcing heroes into this game of im right, and in more ways than one did it end up costing him. Creating an android clone of thor so that they could persuade heroes into thinking he was on their side, sending shield agents at heroes at the crack of registration, putting people that he once considered friends into the negative zone with no chance of retiring, and sending villains to hunt the remaining? Stark turn a registration into a witch hunt.

Pretty much has to be better than the original, at least. All it would take would be the writers spending five minutes thinking through the implications of the premise.

Honestly where they took Scott made sense to me. After everything that's happened to the poor boy, it makes sense that he would eventually become more revolutionary than anything. The problem is they made him seem more as a bad guy rather than the more radical soldier of fortune he had become.

I blame AvX for completely and utterly destroying his credibility as a character.

Of course they had to make him the bad guy, he wanted to *GASP* change the status quo.

Can't be having that.

Out of the 15 events since Civil War (Secret Wars not included) I count 4 that are actually worth reading and aren't a huge mess so chances are high it'll be good!

It's like they decided to appease to all the people who only knew Cyke from the 90's cartoon instead of how he actually is in the comics, which is a goddamned superhero.

I do love how utterly fucking pointless it all was too.

All that "she's the most important Mutant to ever live" shit and she's done fuck all nothing and been involved in basically nothing since then.

Assuming you're talking about Hope, she was
a badass in Spurrier's X-Force run, which ended with
her taking over the team and booting her dad's ass outta there for being a scummy bastard.

Great, another event I can skip while lamenting the inevitable interruption of books I actually like.

That is, if I'm still reading Marvel when this hits.

Secret Wars is great though, first event I've read since the last Civil War.

Not sure why anyone would get worked up.

Time Runs Out already did a reworking of Civil War, but did it much better because Hickman can actually write.

What if it's not Civil War II, but instead Civil War II...

That happened in Secret Wars: Civil War already.

Idk. They sent that postcard to a retailer called comics conspiracy. Could be marvel fucking with us

Probably. Marvel marketing knew exactly what the reaction would be and now they have everyone's attention. Like I said in the OT, people are reacting exactly the same way as when the Secret Wars: Civil War tie-in was announced with just this image:
