Marvel Legends (toyline)

Yes, but for the price of this shelf:

he could've bought the 1/6th scale Deadpool figure and, IMO, it would look a lot better.

I'm glad I learned about HT before I fell too far down the figure-collecting hole. I have 3 HT figures (Avengers Hulk, Avengers Iron Man mk7, and MoS Superman) and I couldn't be happier. Going to get the Avengers AoU Capt America this year.

He will look better and he's on order. Cannot wait!

I really want the MK7 Iron Man but he's so pricey. I'm hoping for a die cast re-release!

That Scarlet Witch. <3

I love collecting figures, but everyone I live with hates when I put them up. (At my parents home, my mum would think girls shouldn't have them and she makes an effort to put them away when she visits my apartment.) And now, living with my boyfriend, he thinks they're too dorky. :P

No way! Be proud of your collection! My desk and cabinet are surrounded in figures and collectibles - and I'm proud :)

I think I have Amazing Fantasy 15 and Symbiote Spidey. The super-poseable Spider-Man 1 and 2 figures were way better though. Their articulation was crazy. Replaceable hands? Pfft, poseable fingers!

I like them and still collect them.

For me, 1/12th is an excellent scale for figures. They are big enough to get some nice detail and posability without taking up tons of space or breaking your bank account, so you can collect more characters that way.

Here is the next Marvel Legends series, currently for pre-order. They are hitting market in late Jan/early Feb.

It's true, however the last several waves have been a big improvement. They are the best Hasbro has ever done.

Some poor kid is going to be confused when getting that Hawkeye and the ENTIRE BODY of Odin is a bonus prize.

Best place to get these DC and Marvel toys in the UK? (not hot toys)
I got a few from Forbidden Planet (along with a few Marvel Universe, which are much smaller), but they overprice everything. You could try your luck on Amazon. Also, maybe some local shops? I think Zavvi sometimes sell the odd 6 inch figure.

Some of these look busted. I also hate when they go for all the extra articulation. Why on earth would I want to bend the torso or twist the hammies!?

Really? I love DC Collectibles figures. They are producing them in big numbers.

Sorry, I meant the multi figure wave big store stuff. I actually noticed they were releasing DC Animated Universe Batman figures over the last couple of months. Not too pricey too at $25 a pop (for what they are). DC has had a bit stronger collector oriented line ups for the last few years while Marvel Legends seemed to be aimed at a broader audience (with hooks for the hardcore collector) which DC Universe Classics seemed to also be aiming at.

Yes I agree, if you are only going to buy one character over and over then the money may be better spent on a single higher quality item

But for those who are interested in buying lots of characters you have to consider things more carefully

And then you also have to consider things such a that not many characters will even get Hot Toys versions. It's almost entirely film characters at this point.

I guess it just depends on how many characters you think are worth spending money on. I read/collect comics (hardcovers mainly), but I don't think many characters/are worth buying. Also, now that I'm older with a career, I just don't really want all the clutter of a ton of figures, and would rather than the higher quality stuff.

Different strokes & all.

Thrasher Suit Batman is one of their more recent ones. It's gorgeous.

I got that one last month for my son. It's a lot bigger than I expected. Can't wait to see his face when he opens it in a few years.

Articulation is life! Don't be anti life. The torso bend is key to posing most characters in poses that actually represent their personalities. Think of hunched over Spider-Man or Wolverine. I'm not a fan of when folk pose their figures as if they were standing in a police line up.

Ah, I see. Most of the ones I had growing up with those extra articulations never seemed to be able to stand on their two feet though. So I stuck with the ones which had basic bends and could stand without fail.

Past few years I've noticed that a lot of figures that are being sold in big mainstream stores (here in the UK, at least) are mostly basic bend ones. Can't find a good articulated one anywhere.

I know this isn't a Marvel Legend but this was in my hands at the local comic shop. It was 350 bucks at the time and I couldn't afford it (I was like 15 and maybe 50 bucks short).

I regret not buying it to this day. One day I'll own it.

But as for Marvel Legends, I always thought it was BS that you had to buy several figures to assemble the sentinel parts

I know this thread is about *MARVEL* Legends, hope some DC talk is not out of line :p I think it's the same audience for both, anyhow.

I bought the recent Damian figure from Son of Batman. I love it. I also have the previous Damian figure (which is now worth close to $200), but I like having them both.

Below: (first pic) "Damian as Robin" figure from the Batman and Son line. Very expensive to buy now. (2nd and third pic) the new "Son of Batman" Damian figure from the animated film.

Marvel Legends are my collecting wormhole. Bought everything from last year except for Black Cat and Carnage because there was no way I was paying internet prices for them and never saw them in a store.

Can't wait for the Spider-Man Legends wave this year, plus both fantastic looking Avengers waves we've seen so far, the Ant-Man stuff (whether part of an Avengers wave or a standalone wave), the Secret Wars stuff, the Guardians of the Galaxy boxset and the Agents of SHIELD three pack.

2015 Legends are going to hurt my wallet.

Edit: I also would disagree that the older Toybiz stuff was better than the current Hasbro figures. Hasbro's figures look miles better in terms of sculpt barring a few exceptions, and while they have less articulation overall, they have smarter articulation, so the figures won't turn into a crumbled mess of loose joints in a couple of years, or collapse under their own weight like so many Toybiz figures do.

Here is that Superior Spider-Man figure for $14 shipped :P Since some people were digging it earlier

I got really lucky and found them on the shelf at Target.

Target has an online inventory tracker. On collector forums, people find the item numbers usually a couple weeks before widespread availability and share them. So I'd been checking stock about once per day in my city and hadn't had any luck.

Then one day I was called into work on a Saturday, ugh. Got to work at 8am, checked the stock and the store a block away was showing 12 figures on the shelf (!!), needless to say I took an early lunch, headed there and got them real quick.

To anyone not really into action figures, trust me, I made the right choice... these figures fly off shelves at incredible speed for the popular characters and restocks are very random. If I hadn't got lucky that day I may never have found them for retail price. >.<

Don't even get me started on the Toys R Us exclusive X-Men Legends wave from last year. :P (I got lucky on that one, too)

Anyway, good luck with the future Spidey wave. There are some good figs in there.

I've been working at the local TRU in-between semesters, in part because I've been hoping to pull off the same thing. None of the TRU exclusive X-Men wave and no Black Cat or Carnage to be seen all season, but I did manage to pull it off on a couple of the NECA Pacific Rim figures that just came out.

Also, we got a leak on some of the figures from the Spider-Man wave, in case anyone hasn't seen it yet:

Spider-Man (Classic)
Spider-Man 2099
Anti-Venom (Repaint of Toxin)
Daredevil (Modified Baron Zemo/Bucky Cap)
Mayday Spider-Girl / Ultimate Spider-Woman (Both on the Jubilee/Anya body, swap figures)
Which means there should still be one more that hasn't been revealed yet.

Don't worry, no kid will ever see it. The Marvel Legends line is the most heavily scalped toyline going right now. I like a lot of them but tracking them down is just too much of a pain to be worth it.

There is also a S.H.I.E.L.D. 3-pack coming

... AND a Thanos wave, but I'm not sure what other figures comes with it

This is the most depressing aspect of it all...

And the reason I pre-order online when I can. http://dorksidetoys.com has the Allfather wave for order now. Free shipping and no sales tax since they are out of state. Note the free shipping option is only available if you buy a CASE, but a case is simply 1x of all 7 figures with the exception of Hawkeye, so you'd have 2x of him (would make a good gift :p)

I'm really not going to miss that awful trench coat body on Fury when it gets retired, hopefully this is the last we see of it.

Currently we know the Thanos wave has Spider-Woman/Hellcat, and the AoU Cap, Hulk and Iron Man were announced alongside them like they were also in the wave, but I don't see the Movie figures not getting their own wave with either a Hulkbuster or Ultron BAF.

I hate it too. To think my Red Skull and Fury look nearly identical... sigh. I don't own a Punisher, but they used it for one of his figures too.

Also the female body is heavily recycled Black Widow.

Main reason I'm buying is for Coulson, but I think that goes for most buyers.

Those both look great!

Better not be Wal-Mart exclusive again (for the Age of Ultron movie wave)... I don't have good access to their stores where I'm at.

I think it's safe to say that era is over- that only happened because the Legends line was officially dead when those movies came out, and they were only making the Marvel Universe 3 3/4" stuff for the most part. Now that Legends are back in a big way, there's no way they'd make the figures for the movies store exclusive any time soon.

Bucky Cap is probably the best mold Hasbro have for using across loads of figures. That's one mold I have no problem with them using.

I hope we see a lot more out of the Superior Spider-Man mold in the future, because it and the Bucky Cap are pretty much perfect for a lot of characters.

Another great 6" scale line is S.H.Figuarts from Bandai. (okay, well they are a hair below 6" sometimes but they are usually very close and it's hard to tell)

They are just about the best super hero figures you can get in this scale.

I myself am the proud owner of both of these from Iron Man 2

I have about 7 of these from around 2004. A couple are a little beat up at this point. Wonder if I could sell em.

Magneto, Juggernaut, Apocalypse, Beast, Gambit, and a couple more.

Wow, that is very cool. Looks like one of those lines where you buy your movie figures from them and get your comic goodness from Hasbro. Hasbro do better in their comics stuff, anyway.

Oh, man. I still have dozens of these things. My favorite is my big-ass Sentinel. You had to buy a bunch of figures that came with each of his pieces to complete him.

Finding these in stores in the UK is a real ball ache. My local comic shop still hasn't even got the GOTG line in yet (if they ever do). Not even my local Toys R Us has them.

Hate having to pay scalper prices online :(

Your local shop charges around £20, yes? If they do, just buy some off Amazon. A few are the same price.

That is rough... I don't know how I'd survive in the UK! I wonder what the importing situation is like there? I have to import a lot from Japan so I'm used to jumping through those sorts of hoops.

I import a lot myself (collect S.H. Figuarts for example) so I know how you feel.

Star Wars Black Series is a pain in the arse to collect as well. Oh you only got of couple Darth Vader's in like a month after release date, but you're still charging full price for all those Slave Leia's that have been shelf warming for almost a year? Gee thanks!

Thanks, I'll look into it.
